Not to mention: Silvers telling Jim this because he knows Jim actually did secure the lifelines and saved Silvers life to boot. He knows Jim is actually legit, but he can't say that because it would give away the mutiny, so he says this instead to try and make it right.

Silver also knew that Scroop was the culprit of killing Mr. Arrow because when the news broke, Scroop smiled at Silver to tell him that he was the one who cut arrow’s lifeline
