This was such a great scene. Jim achieved his childhood dreams, and Silver got his wish: To be there during Jim's chance to show what he was made of and to catch the light coming off of him.
Disney proving that they don't need a princess or some talking animals to make a good film also they showed what a true couple is like. One of my favourite films and has some of the best songs ever
This is one of my all time favorite Disney scenes from one of my all time favorite Disney movies. I really love Silver's line "Didn't I say that boy had greatness in him?!" It feels me with thoughts that maybe I will be able to accomplish something amazing just as Jim did.
Imagine working at the spaceport one day and right out of nowhere, you see a giant green triangular portal open up and and explode, and out of it comes a battered old frigate filled with screaming lunatics. My point, I'd love to see Amelia try to explain this to her superiors.

I like the little things done in this movie. Like at the beginning when he is on the hoverboard completely foreshadows this event. It's the small things that make movies like this great,
90s kids always say that they had it all and we got shit all, even though I love the 90s Disney movies. The 2000s ones were more original and a lot better in some ways

I'm hoping to become an animator for disney or pixar one day and this would be my favorite animation style. The hand drawn characters fit amazingly with the computer animated background, just at the beggining of great computer animation and the end of Disneys best hand drawn animation!
I watched this movie for the first time with my sister on Thanksgiving, and I remember it was the scene that made my heart race, especially when the rocket almost died on Jim.

I remember watching Movie Surfers on Disney back in the day. They interviewed him. Didn’t realize at that time he was the same kid from Angels In The Outfield till several years later.
I love this scene for two reason, 1. Great action scene, great tension, and stacks. 2. It brings the movie full circle, bring us back to when Jim got caught on his Solar-surfer and his line in response to the Doctor stating the portal lead to a raging inferno, "I'm going to change that, I'm going to open a different door." Those lines and the actual situation of change the portal's door are representations of Jim changing his own future.
I really don't care what anyone says bad about this movie or that its underrated. This is one of my top favorite movies in my collection of movies, and it SHOULD have done well.

This movie is the best take on the treasure island story that has ever been made, and the reason it didn't get the credit it deserves was because it was released the same year as Spirited Away which admittedly is another fantastic animated movie, but still, this film and score is the best !
I remember hearing on-and-off that Directors Musker and Clements had wanted to make 'treasure island in space' probably ever since the 80's. I still think they had a great concept here, but the story probably suffered from alot of studio notes (did we really need BEN to overreact all the time?). When it came out, to me, it felt like the unofficial end of 2D animation, because it was Musker and Clements' last film before they were booted, and Silver was Glen Keane's last character he animated.
