I have the X-S20 and I couldn't be happier with it. My only complaint is that if you're not careful, it's easy to blow the highlights (as you prove in the DR test too). But I always set it with -1 in exp compensation and problem solved. Otherwise it is simply spectacular, I come from a Nikon d7200

Sony also record 4K 120fps, but the biggest different is E-mount. If You didn't have any camera (and lenses) before just buy Sony. The amount of lenses is just unbeatable. You can buy everything from very cheap lenses to the ones that You will have to sell Your house to afford it, but even the cheap-ones are very good quality. But, of course if You have any Fuji lenses it will be better and cheaper to buy X-S20.

  • @stefpix

I have been shooting with Sony APSC for several years, and sometimes with Nikon FF. I bought a Fujifilm XT30ii as a personal camera to carry every day. The camera looks nice, and the kit lens 15-45 is pretty good for what it is and its cost. But I ended up returning the Fujifilm. The exposure tended to be inconsistent, with auto ISO it tended to pick higher ISO than necessary. I compared to the Sony A6100 and A6600. The Sony definitely was less noisy and sharper. The Fuji, with the "classic chrome" film simulation produced very pleasing JPGs, but shooting RAW, Adobe Lightroom with the Adobe Standard profile applied on import minimized the differences.
The EVF of the Sony cameras was definitely better than the Fuji's, so was the tracking autofocus. With the XT30ii it is too easy to accidentally move the focus point. in AF-C I sometimes saw some slight hunting/hesitation, and sometimes even photos of buildings were slightly out of focus. I wanted to love the Fuji, have a different platform, but in the end, I returned it and bought a A6700, which even if expensive, it seems on another level.
I know other pro photographers who shoot and love Fujifilm, but I could not embrace it. The menu system of the Fuji is too nested and long.
Sony has improved its menu. I find Nikon in some ways more pleasing to use, it has a great menu system and ergonomics. The colors and skin tones are pleasing and seem to require less tweaking in Lightroom. But the Sony's autofocus, small size, speed, reliability (except when transfering files via the phone app), make it a workhorse in chaotic situations.

@@richrollin4867 watch the video again. Yes, there were comparisons at base ISO and high ISO. For the base ISO, less sharp images are either resutls of the lens (optical) or supoptimal demosaicing process by the software. Remember that x-s20 uses x-trans sensor which is different from the bayer type sensor on the Sony. It is widely known that Adobe LR doesn't process images from x-trans sensor as well as the bayer ones.

    Good comparison.But I would say :
Ibis is usable on Sony , esp with active mode for walking/talking. And on Fuji - not!
And af in video … Sony is way better here cuz Fuji has no af-c tracking , no touch tracking.
Menu on Fuji is so complicated for first few days , but after that you get used to it.
Fuji is more has customisation, Lcd and Evf are better . Even better than on my Sony a7-4.
Battery on Fuji is so good.
Fuji as a Sony overheats fast in 4k50 , in 6k Fuji can record more than 45mins
I do have both cameras, I and would say of you want stability and confidence / reability so go with Sony. Colors , usability , more fun so choose Fuji.

Please tell us a riveting story with your photos-get out there, take risks, and your photos will be COMPELLING. The vlogger could not strongly find a CLEAR winner in any category. The cameras are essentially tied with each other. So, that said, I love the sony cameras 6000 series, because they are so tiny and because I specifically look for lenses that are also small (I travel a great deal and size matters). That's been it for me, simply that by size and lens selection options Sony is what I prefer. But, no question, if someone likes and wants Fuji--the quality of the photos and videos will be EXACTLY the same.

What lenses would you recommend to rival a 50mm and 85mm equivalent? And a 35? I’m seriously thinking of switching from Fuji to Sony (XT5 to A6700). I use the Fuji 56, 33 and 23 (85, 50 and 35 equivalents). What 3 Sony lenses would give me those focal lengths? Am I crazy to think the Sony A6700 could rival the XT5 or would you say it might?

I don't think the much superior AF and meh IBIS can justify this gap, and for the lens range options, it is totally equivalent again. The Fugi is, on the other side, quite superior in video formats, especially the 6k open gate thing. I have seen in the past that fuji iso value is different as compared to canon, sony, etc. So a comparison of the same iso could be unfair if it is the case here also. But we can see near the eye that the sony image is always more sharper. At iso 1600 looking at the coat, fuji is way more darker for the same iso, probably showing iso would need to be set to 3200 iso i guess to see similar shadow detail in the coat. So imo the sony 1600 iso version is much better image if fuji image would be set to see similar shadows in coat

I don't believe this is a fair comparison in terms of sharpness. You should standardize the variables by using lenses with the same optical quality, such as Sigma lenses with different mounts. Comparing sharpness with different lenses does not necessarily reflect the body's sharpness performance.

Fuji definitely cannot record 6k 60fps. You can shoot open gate 6.2k at 30fps. If you shoot 60 fps then the max available resolution is 4k and you have a 1.18 crop. Sony does not have a crop at all when shooting 4k60, also gives you 4K 120fps with 1.58 crop (1 to 1 readout) but it is missing open gate 6.2k recording. I think this should all be included in the video to give the full and correct indormation.

It's another test where Fujiifilm camera is not as sharp on eye as competitive camera and I'm curious what is a reason of that?:
    1. AF of Fujifilm is taking focus let say 2mm closer/further from eye, maybe eyelashes? In theory using manual focus could be more similar result in both cameras?
    2. Optical quality of certain lens is mediocre? How it would look for example on the same third party lens manufacturer (just different lens mount of course)
    3. Or maybe it is just not physically possible for this X-Trans sensor?
    Can someone explain?
