I watched a few of these videos, and this tool would have been handy. Just adding info for whoever it may help. I used safety googles and gloves. Remember to safely depressurise the fuel system as it goes to 3000 PSI on mine - which can kill. I used the soft plastic red tip you can find in the lid of a can of lighter fluid as an adapter, which fit perfectly in my Bosch petrol fuel injector back. It deforms slightly to make a seal. I pulled the spray nozzle off the top of a can of carb cleaner to access the main straight nozzle. It takes a bit of coordination to hold it tight to the injector. I rigged up a switch so I could keep distance from the battery and reduce sparking (with heat shrink). It needs to be able to handle a few amps or it can short and burn your injector. You will be making a mist of flammable vapour so do this outside. It took a whole can of 500ml to clean through 4 injectors plus 1 spare. There was enough left to clean the throttle body and intake. The pressure drops in the can as you go. I'd guess that there is about 60 PSI of pressure in a new can. As removed from the engine, I found white waxy deposits coming from the tips of the injectors and along the body, where compression from the engine was forcing the deposits back towards the fuel rail. I've read this comes from water and gunge from the tank loosened by modern E5 fuels. Its cleans your fuel system and leads all the contamination to your precious injectors. But now it's all cleaned out. TYVM. Also if you use the lighter adapter, beware it can split towards the end of a can.
Hello, and thanks for this video.. is that adapter compatible with Denso injector from Opel Astra J 1.7 cdti , and will it work if I try to clean like this way ? Thanks !
Hi Cyd, really enjoy your videos and found them very informative. My daughter has a Skoda Fabia 1.6tdi 2010 model 105,000 miles, which has started playing up and she has had 2 injectors replaced at around £500 an injector. What is the main failure of an injector and how is best to prevent it happening or at this mileage, is it to be expected?
Just use the fuel injector cleaner additive as a part of maintenance & you shouldn't have a problem. Any of the additives are good but I use B-12 Chemtool & Lucas brands but they all work. There's also the fuel filter that should be replaced when ever your car manufacture calls for it. Its actually insane how much a mechanic will charge for replacing injectors cause they dont cost that much brand new. In engines with (DI) direct injection its not the injectors that are the problem, its the carbon build up on the lifters so if you have a direct injection engine its a waste to replace injectors & the only way they can clean them is physically cleaning the intake with a blaster system. Using a peanut shell blaster is the most common on these issues.
As noted, direct injection is hard on the injectors because of the carbon which gets into the pintle and causes blockage and wear. See my video on rebuilding injectors ruclips.net/video/a7cmZrBaMM8/видео.html and you'll see I used an ultrasonic bath and injector activation tool. Learn how to remove your injectors and do this every couple of years or 30,000 miles max.
Hi Cyd, just want to thank you. I've never had the confidence to do any work on any car I've owned but after watching u I've done the drop links, changed a rear spring, cleaned the egr, throttle body and map sensor and changed the air filter on my saab 93 1.9tid vector sport and got it thru its test so thanks. I've now got code p0087 and the car cuts out a lot. Fuel filter?
I've changed the fuel filter and the engine management light has gone off but the car is still cutting out. Anything else that would cause p0087 pls? My icarsoft for saab days low fuel pressure bank 1.

Are there any rubber parts inside the nozzle? If there are rubber parts I use a large amount of injector cleaner will it damage the rubber in the injector?
No rubber inside. Make sure to use a carb cleaner and you'll be okay. It's worth back flushing your injectors first, if you can (not possible on DI injectors)
I think I have a leaky injector, in my Toyota Aygo. But I can not remove them, because the Vialle LPG injectors above are in the way. It is probably to difficult to remove everything. 😟
I took an injector off to clean it and now the car is not starting, all the injectors are not spraying, there is pressure in the rail but the injectors are not opening. Help me please

On low resistance injectors of a few ohms resistance, I would do very short pulses less than a second each. As short as you can.
Hi Cyd that was a superb video clear & concise info.
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this video.
Love the Two Ronnie's reference
Essential viewing when I was a kid
Brilliant video, will definitely be buying one of these kits, thanks for taking time to make the video.
more detail on the adapter /s and where I can get them from would be a god send .thanks Cyd
@@johndavison1257 I found it on amazon great deal $25 kit adapters and injector tester. Search fuel injector tester
Not sher i wold like to know myself thanks
Thanks a ton mate! Ordered my kit now. This will help me get my Volvo 740 running right ❤
Excellent as usual my friend
Thank you! Cheers!
Hey Cyd, thank you for such valuable information !.
My pleasure!
A brilliant little video
petroleum based products wear out rubber my friend. silicon based work better for lubricant and conditioning. 303 aerospace too
👍
😂😂
Yeah I realise this is an old comment - but come on. The seals are literally there to stop petrol seeping past. Think.
Silicon based damage the oxygen sensor
Pretty sure these are petrol injectors?
Silicon based destroys the rear view mirror
Useful easy and clear 👌🏼
Impressive explanation thank you
There's a video out there cleaning GDI injectors with a sonic cleaner meant for cleaning jewelry, you should check it out.
The ultrasonic clanging outside only not 100% clanging inside
Thanks for the video good info as always 👍👍👍👍👊👊👊
Thanks Jamrock. Hope it's helpful. I found 2 faulty injectors on my son's 'new' car with this (Audi A3 1.8 TSFi)
Very excellent vid, thanks Cyd.
Now to get the injectors out of my Twingo 1...
Hello, and thanks for this video.. is that adapter compatible with Denso injector from Opel Astra J 1.7 cdti , and will it work if I try to clean like this way ? Thanks !
This is great, thanks Syd.
Thanks CB.
Thank you I learned a lot from this
Thank you for this great video. What is this kit you are using, and where can it be sourced?
Put a "momentary switch" in the positive line, then you wont have to keep touching the positive terminal.
Hi
Please how can I get some of the cleaning kits?
Carbarretta cleanah😂love it
some contributors raised concerns of using Vasaline (petrolium product) on Rubber seals?
Injectors will open with a 9V transistor radio battery.
They will. If you have one. Everyone with a car has a 12V battery though!
I want to use brake cleaner, do you think it is better internally?
Good lawd, no way I’d go through all this… time for new injectors!
Completely rebuild the originals and keep as spares matey.
For me, at £250 UK pounds for EACH of eight injectors, this is worth a go, no?
I have a vw crafter diesel 2.4 that nned this badly, Can you give me a link to where i can get this tool please?
It is in the description, but here it is: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DEBsTaP
Great video!! Do recommend just to do it to service the part or only if idle problems etc.
Yes, for service. Every 50,000 miles I suggest, more often if they are easy to get out.

@@CycloneCyd will this method work on fiesta diesel injectors???
@@fantomrides it should do. Try using deisel egr cleaner instead of carb cleaner.
I guess carb cleaner damages those teflon seals at the end. I foolishly installed new seals and realised I forgot to clean the injectors first.
Cool video

Will this work on any injector, I have a mk5 golf gti and I need mine cleaning which I don't want to to pay for
Oh, for sure. IIRC doesn't yours have Bosch injectors?
Why isn't the injector cleaner designed to backflush the injector you think that would be more efficient?

some mass air flow sensor cleaners are rubber friendly, just in case

1.9 Skoda SDI engine, only one injector has an electrical connection...so how do I clean the other 3? Thanks.

I took an injector off to clean it and now the car is not starting, all the injectors are not spraying, there is pressure in the rail but the injectors are not opening. Help me please
connect the injectors to the correct connectors
Do they spray okay in your hand? Sure you've connected them up correctly?
👍thanks
Welcome 👍
Tq sir
Cyd, you'll be sorry when that cleaner splashes into your eyes!
Yeah, let it spray away from you!
Atomised solvent and open electrical connections - what could possibly go wrong? At least put a closed switch into the circuit.
hi can you pour injector liquid direct in the fuel tank?
There are cleaners that can be added to the tank, but I have my doubts over their efficacy.
Do Fuel Injectors Need Periodic Cleaning?
Definately. Every 50-80,000 miles or whenever you have them out for other reasons. It really does make a difference
Easiest thing: Fill your fuel filter with injector cleaner. then turn car on
question. what do you do when You cant find a can of carb cleaner with the plastic tip not sticking out?
Brake cleaner, MAF cleaner? This is the stuff to look for amzn.to/3IUKr78 OR as a last resort see if Amazon will deliver from the UK.
Have you tried this method on a direct injector?
Yes, the injectors you see in the video are direct petrol injectors from an Audi A3 1.8T
@@CycloneCyd thanks, I'll try your method on bmw n54 direct injectors 👍
