- Fellow deadheads - you might see yourself in this video footage that I filmed outside before the Grateful Dead Chinese New Years show in downtown San Francisco in January 1987 with my new, state-of-the-art VHS camcorder. Great memories! Excitement was still high, since Jerry and the band had just started playing again in November after his medical problems that summer. I remember Ann and I only needing to walk a couple blocks to get there when we lived at Bush and Jones! Of course it was a great show, but it was one of the few times in my life I've ever been able to walk to shows from my home!!! Thanks for watching - I hope you see yourself!!! - Peace, Bruce Borowsky, Boulder, Colorado
Wow. I can actually say I was there. It was my first vacation from NY and I went by myself to both shows. I remember mailing in my tickets request. And I remember how mellow she audience was compared to east coast shows and I remember Get Back. I was hoping to be in your video but I didn’t see me. But I remember the vibe. I was only 22. I had already seen them at least 20 times.
Thanks Bruce!!! Good day to you.
I started seeing shows about then, on the east coast. It’s cool to see footage like this. Takes me back.
Ah the good old days. Didn't know how lucky we were. ⚘💀
Portland old school friends B Ross and Sharon at 1:03. Hello, wherever you both may be!
Saw a guy bopping along at 4:48 who I recognized...hey, that’s me! Open flannel big beard big hair...fuckin’ hippie!
My first 2 west coast shows on nights 1+2. In my first dozen. Tiniest indoor venue along with Roanoke i ever saw them. GREAT show on new years
Unconditional appreciation, love and respect. There is nothing quite like Music (and here, I'm not specific).
Magic. I missed this but was at Calaveras later that same year. We were all so happy Jerry was alive and well! Thanks for the memories.🌹🌹🌹
myself and two other heads snuck in via the underground parking lot, it was pretty wild. The next night we did it again and brought another twenty or so with us. Incredible.
32 years later and the scene and the atmosphere is remarkably the same. This music is forever, folks.
Wish I felt that way too. To me something priceless and hard to describe, left the scene when Jerry did.
@@novakaya Welcome back!
It’s not the same. But nothing lasts forever.
I was there! Didn't see myself in the footage though.
Cool to see the old footage. Wish I had been there. We will survive!! 🌹🌹🌹
wow! So fun to see this footage. I was there somewhere. It’s always great to see parking lot footage.. totally takes me back to remember “yes, it really was that amazing” :)
Found myself in this video...wooooohooooo!
Back when the kids used to play Sackey hack .......
In the background at the start 6-10-73 NFA with the Allman Brothers one of my favorite jams ever.
I was listening to the 2/14/70 NFA and then turned this on and it started you bet ya NFA.
Thanks Bruce.

Name the tune playing in the background at 0:23
With the Allman Brothers, I love that jam
Both wrong... it only plays for a few seconds when the dude is strumming the guitar.
@@tylerthompson1842 Row Jimmy
@@yawatahnosage9467 got it
@@tylerthompson1842 not wrong they're both playing you can still hear it in the background because that's what I was paying attention to. Believe it or not there's more than one person playing Dead bootlegs there
I'm out in that crowd somewhere....
Me too...at 4:48...wooooohoooo!
No cell phones, hence the interpersonal group communication. It was easy!
Didn't we get banned from there for shooting fireworks at the mayor's office window after the shows?(All in good harmless fun!)
