This should have been pinned. Most important comment of the video. No good draining the fluid if you don't know if you can fill it.
Great advice
For 1KD 3 ltr engines with MANUAL gearbox -
Tranny : 2.2 litres (75w90 - GL4)
Transfer Case : 1.4 litres (75W90 - GL5)
Diffs :
Front diff - 1.45 litres
Rear Diff - 3.35 litres
Oil Grade is 80w90 and Oil Type is GL5. GL5 is very important. The main difference between GL-4 and GL-5 gear oils is in the level of extreme-pressure (EP) additives which are tough on gaskets and yellow metals. They are not interchangeable.
Transmission Drain Plug Gasket Part Number - 12157-10010.
Great video. Easy to follow. Torque settings and consumables. Liked the links and spec list.

Thanks for visiting
Great video, thanks. I called to a parts shop and they sold me 75/90 oil for back and front diff oil (2011, Hilux, 2.5 D4D, manual). Main dealer advised 75/85 some days later while getting other parts. Is it okay to use the 75/90 I got? Owners manual says 75/90 too!
Yeah you’ll be fine with that mate 👍
to anyone doing this for the love of god remove the fill plug first before draining anything
thanks for the comment
Hi mate great video any fresh links for the oil? I have a 2015 older style hilux it's getting on 180,000 miles amd thinking it's needing this a its next service thanks in advance
Hi mate sorry for the Late reply, ive checked the links and they are still live?thank
@@diydaly hi man, yes I got them now ordered thank you
@@johnantonine4505 👍👌
Where do you find the torque settings? I want to do mine but mine is an auto box so I just wondered about the differences.
I get them from autodata mate
Hey there, great video, very clear and self-explanatory. Thank you!
One question though, are you sure that the gearbox capacity is 3.3L (mentioned at 8:44)? From all the manuals and specs online as well as my owners manual it says 2.2L for the 4x4 manual gearbox
Just wanted to check before I go under and start with the oil change on my 2008 4x4 rig...
I also read 2.2 litres now I'm confused
Have to say I’ve double checked and auto data is saying 2.2L! I’m not sure where I got that from , the the rear diff for limited slip diff lists 3.2l , I may have read the wrong listing! I’ll try edit this .. thanks for letting me know!
@@diydaly Great, then I'll be going. under soon. Thank you once more for the great video!

Take out the fill plug forst before the drain plug also get a spec sheet and buy a good quality oil if it sais GL5 75w80 get that oil dont mess about you dont service the diffs transver and gearbox every year and do it yourself garages like this guy will just poor the cheapest kinda inspec oil in
You are eating your words, its difficult to understand.
