On 21 June 2009, Schumacher appeared on the BBC's motoring programme Top Gear as The Stig.[170] Presenter Jeremy Clarkson hinted later in the programme that Schumacher was not the regular Stig. The BBC has since confirmed that this is the case; Schumacher was there on that occasion because Ferrari would not allow anyone else to drive the one-of-a-kind black Ferrari FXX which was featured in the show.[171] The FXX was presented to Schumacher upon his retirement at Monza in 2006.
@NottinghamForest22 it is him because that FXX is privately owned by him, and later in this episode, the stig "unveils" himself shortly after and it is schumacher under the helmet.
You are right, there is only 30 of the FFX and the people who buy them can only use them on spesial trackdays aproved by Ferrari. This black one is owned by Michael Schumacher and he drove it in this clip.
@drh1111 So was this, the requirement to go on the board is that it's a road legal car. The FXX is not taxable because it's a track only car, and the time was later removed off the board and the Gumpert reinstated (watch the Veyron SS lap and the Gumpert is still top) The FXX is basically a test bed for GT spec parts - hence why from certain angles there's a hint of LMP2 to it. Others it looks like a track spec Enzo.
@r0fflec0pt True, if you do a little research, you will find that schumachers fxx is the only completely black version. All other fxx models have a racing stripe.
It was Shumaker. Ferrari said that he was the only person legally able to drive it around the top gear track, due to Shumaker's racing history with Ferrari.
@YeTenuousUmbrae Yeah, if I remember right, it was revealed that the driver of the FXX wasn't the real Stig, it was a major race driver -- Michael Schumacher, I think -- who was the actual owner of that FXX.
@Joeaviation1712 That Aston is 100% competition car, you can buy the FXX, it´s not road legal, but it was for sale, the Aston wasn´t. And you can race the FXX in several competitions, it aplies to the basic rules of racing, unlike for example the Zonda R or those kit cars some ppl like to mention. There´s also something called exclusivity and passion, wich some ppl take very serious.
@hereistand2008 yes it was schumacher as it is his own personal car, he is the only person aloud to drive it. The FFX was taken off the board because of the use of slick tyres and its not raod legal and therefore Ferrari make special track days. Altho you can have the car tweaked to make it road legal,
@Slashbag69 The thing is though in order to get that level of performance out of the car there is a trade off with emissions. If emission limits were in force on this engine then you'd probably find that it would add a second to the lap and road tyres might also add 0.2 seconds. So in my mind it was a bit of a pointles test given the rules but probably a useful technical exercise.
@monnyg1 I think the Caparo T1 is technically the quickest street legal car to go round the top gear track however Jeremy wouldnt let it stay on the board as the rules are the car has to be able to go over a sleeping Policeman (speed hump)
@s70driver2005 I like fun factor but for 4-wheeled vehicles I gave-up on that long ago. I have a Ranger pickup to commute with and I get my kicks on whichever of my three bikes I want to ride when it's warm. The Ranger allows me to carry a bike when I need to.
@ledrocker555 maybe the lotus 2-eleven can make it up there. good clearance, runs on petrol, and runs on upper-end road legal tires. though it is built for those people who go to track days or time-attacks and also for people who don't like wind-shields.....lol.
this video proves that schumacher is (or at least was) the stig at some point in time!! the only way top gear could give up the stigs identity was when they would bring this car to the track and they did it!
It would make sense that Schumacher drove this car, given he is the master of turn, I don't see how any other drive could beat every performance car by seven seconds.
Very true. And the time was aptly pulled down first thing the following episode for that exact reason. It's a track car only. However I think their exact reason was because it runs on race fuel rather than street fuel. Either way, it's no longer on the Power Board.
@WaffleIronMan91 Those listed have all been classified as NOT Road Leagal, I think the case here is that the FXX was driven in on 1:10 and road leagal, but then, afterwards classified as not roadleagal (Because of the tyres) and therefore removed off the board today.
@thedodolers understeer is when you turn the steering wheel but when there isnt enough front end grip the car continues to go straight forward than turn resulting in a shity driving experience like the new civic type r or a crash
@anjoLas dude we didnt say if u can buy it or not it was on the board and as it was removed this fxx was removed too it dosent matter if u can buy it or not or is it good or not it made faster lap time
@BRTopGear The "real" Stig is actually more than one person. As far as I know, Schumacher is the main white Stig they use (sometimes other drivers stand in). So, it WAS the "real" Stig.
@TheLacken No, I'm not dumb. And I know that this car is listed as "not street legal". But it is based on the Enzo (wich is) and i'll bet, this car has even the same (or better) driver security like the Enzo has. So, legality depends on where You live... Eg. If You where a sheikh (or M. Schumacher, who owns this one) and drive such a car somewhere in the emirates on the road no cop will stop You... ;-)
@TheRealSa1nt oo ok thanx for the reply :) it's much appreciated. The time the FXX did is freaking crazy, I wonder how much does the 599xx does. On paper wich one is better of the 2 ?
@WaffleIronMan91 These are not on the board because they were / are not street legal. As to those who are saying that the FXX is street legal (which is isn't) even if if were legal to drive on the road, you couldn't because Ferrari keep it until you want to use it at a track and then they (might) ship it to that track.
@wsbill14224 that may be but does that mean you have to give up on style, power, and the fun factor? i dont think so. i have a car that i love to drive and, its a blast to drive, i know itll get me where i need to go every time. its 2012, there are loads of cars that do all of it.
@emtildeath For the second time im not saying schumacher is the stig, im saying because Schumacher let Top Gear use his black FXX to do the track time, and since noone but himself is basically allowed to drive it, Top Gear dressed him as the stig to do the lap.
@levlevi i feel the exact same way, there's just something about a 2000lb car that goes 0-60 in 2.7 and there's only 15! pagani is my most favorate foreign car manufacturer by far
@e24mpwr yep someone already explained it to me, but thanx for the reply. 10 sec was a crazy amazing score lol. The stig must have been going crazy in the cockpit.
@4everkilla The bugatti didn't do it in the same time because of it's weight issues. The FXX does 0-60 mph in 2.8 secs as compared to the Bugatti's 2.5 secs. So yeah the FXX finished faster on a swerving track, but take the race to a 5-mile track and the FXX will be eating the Veyron's smoke.
@MrSoccerfanatic1 can i tell you something? You know top gear sent the Stig to do that Aston Martin DBR9 GT1 lap :) which was under 1 min 10 seconds I think :)
Gotta love all the Ferrari, Zonda, Veyron chat on this thread, unless i luck in on the National Lottery i'm never owning any of them and if i do i probally wrap it round the 1st tree i see. By far the greatest lap of the top gear track in my own humble opinion is the Caterham R500 1.17 something or other seconds in something that has a 2 litre mondeo engine in it. I'm getting one of those when i win the lottery and doing a Charlie Sheen (Drugs Hookers Beer) with the rest
Engine RPM's makes all the difference. The Stig kept it screaming right through the corners & like Jeremy said, "It stuck Like a formula 1" Hence the new record!
What helped it come in first aswell is Because Shumacher was driving it. If he drove all the other cars I'm sure he can shave a few seconds off of each.
@TheTycarroll You can't really compare the FXX to the Gumpert, since the gumpert was made to be street legal, while the FXX was made without limitations. The Radical SR8 is a street legal vehicle, that beat any other car, street legal or not, round the nuburgring. Not my favorite car, but a true speed king. And 2 seconds is a lot when we're talking about cars this fast. some races are won by just 0.1 of a second.
@GamerAzoonux Even if the FXX was road legal, you couldn't drive it on the road because Ferrari only lets you use it when they ship it out to the track you will be using it at
@TheEmptiness42 i'd bet on that the stig is the same driver but the condition is that the results be reasonable, for example a ferrari scudoria has to get a better timing than the regular f430 even if that was not the case in real life
@SH1974 Not legal AT ALL, regardless of what tires. Google the FXX or look it up on Wikipedia. Only allowed to be used on racetracks by Ferrari. When are you people going to realize it's a race version of the Enzo, sold only to very few customers (read owners of Ferrari's for 20 or more years) Ferrari has approached themselves. The purpose is to let the customers help Ferrari with driving data for their potential buyers, thereby developing their future cars to suit their driving technique.
What a lap. Good lord. :) now I heard that only Schumacher was allowed to drive the FXX, and that's why he was the Stig for this episode. Is that true, or just a rumor?
That is a truly amazing car driven by a truly amazing driver but other than the entertainment value how does it make the cars we ordinary folks have to drive run any better? I mean, our goals are the opposite. I need to go from point A to B safely, reliably, and as cheaply as possible. I know it's boring but that's the life of a commuter, which is most of us.
@ronaldinho99999999 But the Zonda R is not road legal I think. I agree the Zonda R would I think smoke the FXX. It already owns the lap record at the nurburging. It would be awesome if the Zonda R was tested.
@whitelines2007 believe me you don't want this kind of car. first of all it's a high performance race car (that means you can't drive it on streets). secondly it haves a V12 6.3L engine housing 790 horses wich can run a maximum speed of 391 km/h (way too much over your driving skills). Thirdly: only 30 were made.
@XGtaSaComeX I saw the episode they removed it from the board yesterday ;) But I thought they removed it because it was on the slick tyres. Maybe I wasn't watching attentively ;)

"batman on a track day" fabulous analogy :D

@Flabernat the T1 was actually street legal but they took it off because of it's inability to go across speed bumps. It is road legal however
It was Shumaker. Ferrari said that he was the only person legally able to drive it around the top gear track, due to Shumaker's racing history with Ferrari.
lol , the front end of that car through hammerhead is working fantastic
what a car , and shumy what a driver that guy is , LEGEND
@YeTenuousUmbrae Yeah, if I remember right, it was revealed that the driver of the FXX wasn't the real Stig, it was a major race driver -- Michael Schumacher, I think -- who was the actual owner of that FXX.
I MUST SAY I GOT WOOD NOW, THAT REALLY GOT ME EXCITED LOL!!! I SWEAR WHEN I WIN THE LOTTERY THIS FRIDAY I'M GETTIN ONE..OR 2 LOL!!
It's like batman on a track day! --Gotta love his similes!
@Joeaviation1712 That Aston is 100% competition car, you can buy the FXX, it´s not road legal, but it was for sale, the Aston wasn´t.

music to my ears!!! amazing sound don't you agree?
damn that things basically an f1 car! goddamn i love ferrarri.
@drummer2k5 the ultima gtr IS street legal, but for unknown reasons, top gear will not allow it on the show.
@monnyg1 I think the Caparo T1 is technically the quickest street legal car to go round the top gear track however Jeremy wouldnt let it stay on the board as the rules are the car has to be able to go over a sleeping Policeman (speed hump)
this is epic, just amazing !
@s70driver2005 I like fun factor but for 4-wheeled vehicles I gave-up on that long ago. I have a Ranger pickup to commute with and I get my kicks on whichever of my three bikes I want to ride when it's warm. The Ranger allows me to carry a bike when I need to.
lol i have watch this 10 times now xd it sound so perfekt :D
@grisznik The board has a few rules... the FFX is not a street legal car so it was removed from the board..
@ledrocker555
maybe the lotus 2-eleven can make it up there. good clearance, runs on petrol, and runs on upper-end road legal tires. though it is built for those people who go to track days or time-attacks and also for people who don't like wind-shields.....lol.
oh and the Caparo is road legal, the updated version has an adjustable front wing to go over speedbumps :)
this video proves that schumacher is (or at least was) the stig at some point in time!! the only way top gear could give up the stigs identity was when they would bring this car to the track and they did it!
just the sound of that thing is hard on inspiring!
It would make sense that Schumacher drove this car, given he is the master of turn, I don't see how any other drive could beat every performance car by seven seconds.
The mighty fxx, greatest car have ever made
@warhammer66666 Yes but those are not commercially available. All of the cars on the board are.
@snico yea they revealed he was the stig for at least this episode. They never said he did any other race but this one was schumacher for sure.
It sounds like a damn violin off the line... amazing noise!
@Lotus2891 the reason it is not on the power board anymore it's because the lap time was done with slick tire
Very true. And the time was aptly pulled down first thing the following episode for that exact reason. It's a track car only. However I think their exact reason was because it runs on race fuel rather than street fuel. Either way, it's no longer on the Power Board.
@harshlens this was before the supersport and they took down the Fxx time because it was using slick tires for an advantage
@WaffleIronMan91 Those listed have all been classified as NOT Road Leagal, I think the case here is that the FXX was driven in on 1:10 and road leagal, but then, afterwards classified as not roadleagal (Because of the tyres) and therefore removed off the board today.

i love the koenigseggsegsegsegsegseg on the top gear time board
Schumacher is driving. No joke.
@majdirshead but the dbr9 is a race car and the FXX isnt its a developement bed for ferrari it changes all of the time sooo
@anjoLas dude we didnt say if u can buy it or not it was on the board and as it was removed this fxx was removed too it dosent matter if u can buy it or not or is it good or not it made faster lap time
The best driver and the best car road ever !

this engine is really crying !!! so awesome !
@mlgprotipsy schumacher apparently drove it in this clip, which would make sense as he owns it and would be reluctant to let anyone else drive it.
@TheRealSa1nt oo ok thanx for the reply :) it's much appreciated. The time the FXX did is freaking crazy, I wonder how much does the 599xx does. On paper wich one is better of the 2 ?

Of course the Stig hasn`t been Schumi before this! You can read that from the lap time! Seven seconds! At that track! The King is the KING!!!!!
I'm eager to see if the Pagani Zonda R beats it.
@majdirshead But, since it was not available to the public for purchase as it was, they had to discard the lap. So this technically is the fastest.
Why was the fxx gone when the Veyron SS went up? They said the SS was the fastest ever. The Fxx wasnt there when they put up the SS.
What a lap. Good lord. :) now I heard that only Schumacher was allowed to drive the FXX, and that's why he was the Stig for this episode. Is that true, or just a rumor?
It's like BATMAN on a track day!!!! xD
@GamerAzoonux What's really silly about it is than you CAN own it, but when you buy it, Ferrari keeps it until you want to use it.
That is a truly amazing car driven by a truly amazing driver but other than the entertainment value how does it make the cars we ordinary folks have to drive run any better? @majdirshead yeah but i believe it was disqualified for having racing slicks
greatest driver in the greatest car

@Kartlad90 the The Renault F1 isnt road legal so it didnt stay on the board
In the 'Bugatti Veyron Super Sport TopGear Lap' video, recommended on the right, Veyron Super Sport does the lap in 1:16.3 - WHERE IS IT ON THE BOARD?
@m5p944 that was probably the zonda f, i'm talking about the zonda R
michael schumacer was driving this car since i believe this is his car
@johnlysen cuz it is. didnt you see robin in the passenger seat?
looks like a batmobile..awesome looking thing
@WaffleIronMan91 Your comment is clearly incorrect, cuz there is a chart at the end of the video showing gumpert as the fastest before the FFX
whether the stig is shumy or not, the stig is clearly an F1 driver.
Ferrari is the boss of super cars!
@prts2 thats why i posted it. the stig himself wasnt allowed to drive it.
its schumacers baby
@megapilot2000 wasn't the stig revealed as some other semi-famous driver?
@bombfighter13- Only street legal cars count on the board. They had an F1 car do it in 59 seconds once as well.
that couldnt get past a sleepy policeman
@ChristopherTru12334 I know :( but there's a road version which you can buy I think?
@majdirshead
The dbr9 is a fulltuned car! A stock db9 would do it in 1.25.....
@madacount
Ferrari FXX 0-60 mph or (0-100 kph) around 2.8 seconds remember though all comes down to conditions and the driver
@XGtaSaComeX
I saw the episode they removed it from the board yesterday ;)
But I thought they removed it because it was on the slick tyres.
Maybe I wasn't watching attentively ;)
i'm not suprised they took the title from the fxx because it wasn't streetlegal also it ran on slicks-tires
Thumbs up if they should still show the speedo on the power laps.
@SebbyHaughtonf1 what world do you live in? lol 1:08 your dreamin mate , the pagani zonda did that track in 1:17 or around that haha , GTR fan
ariel atom v8 maclaren mp4 12c i think! and avantador are 1 2 and 3 on the board for now correct m if im wrong?
