    i hated the mother back then, i grew up to try thinking deeper, i always thought now that she only abused kousei because she wants him to succeed with perfection before she passes, she wanted him to progress with no mistakes before she goes. i mean she has the right thought but her actions isnt acceptable so i have mix feelings

      It was selfish of her to have such high expectations for him at that age but after that it payed off.

    • @ZozO10312k
      @ZozO10312k 3 года назад +19

      @@joestrr4772 yea, it really did pay off, but it did ruin her relationship causing them to part ways after the last time kousei saw her. pretty sure everyone knew that kousei kind of regret not seeing her last time since she's the only reason he plays (aside for kaori)

      just a thought, i think that also that since she is going to pass soon enough, she holds that stress and scared that she, at any moment that she could already be gone before she can help kousei achieve his goal in becoming a great pianist. this is a stereotype im pretty sure but asian parents are likely going to be strict and abusive if you haven't done anything properly even if it's a tiny bit, for your future they want you to have a better career so that you can achieve something, like Saki she wanted kousei to achieve that goal before she leaves him... her intention was to rush the process even if it means that kousei will lose trust in her. And even after death i think that the impact of her leaving put something in kousei that made him struggle to play the piano which Saki was one of the reason he even played the piano (to make her happy), kaori comes in the scene and that's when he had another reason to play the piano, which later ends up in the same way like her mom but in a better note.

      See even then I don’t support child abuse. His mother was not the best person, but she did actually love kousei which is better than I can say for most parents in anime *cough* *cough* shou tucker 😂😂

      i didn't hate her cause she is so real, it's so realisting, cancer patients are just like that

  • @nobuffer101
    @nobuffer101 Год назад +40

    As much as I disliked the mom, once we finally saw things from her perspective, while the abuse was going a little far, it was heart wrenching to know the truth.
    The reason she was so harsh was because she was afraid. She only had a little time left with her son and she spent it worrying about his future as any mother would. She wanted to teach him the ‘art’ of piano but she didn’t have enough time to teach Kousei enough so she can pass on without worry. She could only teach him what would make him win so he would have at least the ability to support himself as a pianist rather than enjoy himself as a musician.
    The mother wasn’t right to abuse Kousei, but at the same time, you can’t exactly hate her because she was simply worried about how her son would grow without her, and simply wanted to prepare him enough that he would be fine without her. But at the end, she still wished she could have more time with her son.
    She wants Kousei to be happy but with the time she had left, and as a worried and loving mother, she had to be practical and strict to ensure that Kousei would be okay when she’s gone. But as with every parent, no matter how much they try to prepare their children for a world without them, they will always be worried about them nonetheless.

    This episode still haunts me, as growing up in an Asian household, I’ve been trained to be alone through my whole life and it actually makes me stronger but at the same time I feel I’ve never feel loved from them but still I have so much gratitude towards them.

    The only reason why her mom drown him into darkness or the ocean was because she doesn't want her son to suffer with music because he wanted to quit, only when he realise that he actually wanted to play the piano again she left him without having to worry about her child again✨🤧💚

    His growth is squrred by sorrow if Kousei is to walk that path, he might have to lose someone to move forward.

    This is probably the only show I've seen that made me feel genuinely sad when an abusive parent dies. She obviously went about it in the wrong way, but his mother really did want him to be happy/okay, and the only way she knew to prepare him for life with the little time she had left was to push him as hard as she could.

    I don't know why people fault his mom like she has options. She was literally on life support, the clock in ticking and she cannot properly set up a future for him with what little time she had. Her choices were definitely wrong but not out of malice, more desperation. She was not aiming for prestige or pride but just so that he can make a living for himself and in the process blinded herself to all the pain she'd caused him. This isn't some sort of veiled attempt to justified a parent's pride overshadowing a child's growth, it was the one extreme gambit she decided to take before leaving him with literally nothing to show for it.
