In Malaysia, we call that dish "Butter shrimp" and you can find it in a lot of restaurants. I love eating the egg strands but I just never figured out how to make it.

I once saw a chef in malaysia making this dish by using egg yolk and butter for frying to make it looks and taste better

@@21mrdexx and I didn't mean to 'debate' with you, just a normal response without any bad intention. I'm also a Malaysian Chinese and this dish seems like a typical Chinese dish to me. But as you said perhaps it's localized Chinese food like Bah Kut Teh, in which some close relatives can be found in other regional Chinese cuisine, but no doubt is originated from Klang, Malaysia. Anyway, IMO, I think more solid proofs are needed before we made such claims. But your speculation is clearly reasonable.
Btw, what I wanted to emphasize in my previous comment is this is clearly a dish belongs to Chinese cuisine. I guess we may reach to a consensus on that right?
