Renegade here on the East Coast of USA ❤ Great job figuring out Violet was the mom. Thank you for reacting and being scared and not liking parts of the story. That tells me you were really engrossed in the Tales ❤❤ Subbed for more 🎉
Oh yeah, I am from Canada, used to live in Calgary, now just a couple hours away. You probably heard his story, so might know that he was getting treatment for over a year in Calgary. He shot a few videos here, so it is cool to see that.
Ren did this and HI REN live for fans in real life event... Ren also was signed by SONY at one point... but with his Lyme Diease he was too sick to perform live and had to leave. This was 3 different songs. This video that you're watching is a edit version with all 3 songs stitched together. His "Troubles" song explains his life and suffering. He had all that time in his bed so he practiced and self taught himself in all instruments. He is still fighting Lyme and yeah. More Ren please.
He was 19 he was signed by Sony in 2009. His contract expired while sick in bed trying to stay alive. I'm thinking a 6-12 month contract. It explained it all in detail on his Chapters 1-8 at RenMakesStuff. A tiny summary was on his Troubles song. To much to explain. He was sick before he was signed but he faked it and didn't tell them because he knew he would lose his shot. He tried to sing and perform but it caught up with him and he could not stand up anymore without getting sick. At age 29-30 he performed Jenny's tale, it was early 2019, screech was late 2019 and Violet tale was 2022.
Florida Renegade here, always love a good reaction to The Tales and yours was quite enjoyable. Loving the journey. Peace friends. #FreeSickBoi #SaveSickBoi
You guys should do 'Losing it' next. It's a fun track and it's 90% filmed by Ren by himself on a GoPro. I bet you'll geek out on the video. And the rap itself, so packed with cultural references, you'll have a ball trying to catch them all.
So violet was the mom, she died and "Stevie " probably went to jail, so the twins probably went through the system and were separated, they never knew each other, but screech took the qualities of Stevie, and Jenny took the qualities of violet....
6:28 I read a suggestion that Violet's father could have been the father of the twins, based on the unlikely event that Violet as a single woman would have been allocated a council flat unless she was also a mother or pregnant. Also based on Stevie calling her a liar while beating her up. Either way, both were violent men so Screech's traits could have come from either (as well as from his environment). It's a plausible alternative.
South America in the house! I'm from Bolivia 🇧🇴 guys. Great reaction!! Now is time to do Chalk outlines and How to be me, both live-one-take videos and featuring Chinchilla. You won't regret it!!!
"Muffled trumpet sound" - semi-occluded vocal warm-up technique. Followed by a little cough. He's a minstrel warming up his voice for his performance. Ren is all about the details.
Ren released this in 2019 and you'll notice in Violet's tale at the beginning and the end he says "London City far from pretty 2005" so they would have been 14 years old in 2019. Also I think you missed the part where Violet's father was mol esting her. "he tucked her in but never left the room" (cuz your lack of reaction ) Her mom was a drunk but he says that he is sure her mom knew what her dad was doing to her
Violet’s boyfriend Stevie is the one who killed her. Every night he’d paint her black and blue. This night he came home drunk and decided to beat her up even though she was 9 months pregnant with their twin babies. Violet dies, and Stevie probably went to jail and the kids Jenny and James(street name Screech) grew up in the foster system and didn’t know each other. Some Renegades went on to speculate that Jenny may have been a hooker because she walked the streets. And others speculated that Screech couldn’t get a hold of his friend Patrick because he was at his girlfriend’s house which is why she was too busy to have him come by. How’s that for some extra layers!
The extra layers came from Instagram stories which nearly got Rens insta account closed down 😂 Jennys story is based on a true story from London. The paper said 'its such a shame'.
Renegades are World wide. Many of us are in the USA. But his following is from every country. If they listen to music, they too have Ren. Ponder. There was a version of Blindeyed ( written by Sam Tompkins) and performed Busking with Sam and Ren, that went viral years ago. It generated responses from so very many people in so many countries. Those listeners responded by sending to Ren clips of themselves listening to that song, from cars, from horseback, from camelback, to hearding sheep, to being in the military on front lines. Go explore and discover.
In Jenny's Tale. Ren said fairly early on "James grew up to be a kid of the streets, he mates called him Screech." And when he said "I guess that she escaped", it was a call back to earler when he said she was looking to escape. #savesickboi OH also there were zero cuts, each individual Tale was one cut. They were originally 3 separate videos.
hello dears!!! let's go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wicked smile of anticipation!!!!!!! i love seeing what ren can do to peoples' minds-he sticks his slender fingers in your brain and makes you say wtf!!!! you guys didn't disappoint me, thanks. kathleen (USA)
I think many people who listen to it for the first time find it difficult to distinguish exactly what is being said due to the accent. Others might concentrate more on the melody or the acting in certain parts instead of the message when they listen for the first time
I never clicked so fast!!! Yes! The Hunger next? It's bandcore Ren is so good! This is all live too. Great reaction. More Ren... The Hunger will blow you Ren is from Wales, moved to London, then Canada for treatment His acting is perfect. It's like Broadway but better!
Bard core....but a bard in old English days walked singing about the local legends. Jasker in the netflix witcher or dandelion in the witcher 3 video game.... He is a bard
It was actually minstrels that fit that description. "Bard" was usually reserved for highly valued songwriters and poets, who were often employed or sponsored by royalty or aristocracy. Shakespeare was an example of a late medieval/early renaissance bard. The "Bard of Avon". Sponsored by aristocracy and employed by royalty. Either description fits Ren. Minstrel or bard, though I don't think he'd accept sponsorship from royalty or aristocracy, lol, but not all bards did. :)
It is reactions like this that is the reason I love Ren songs. They aren't normal songs, they really affect people. Good job, I was looking forward to this from you guys. Money games are great songs to react to, but if I can make a request, I really think you two should really do Genesis or The Hunger, just because it really shows off his rap skills that I think you will like. Or Fisher Rap retake, he raps so fast there. So far all the songs you have reacted to are kinda theatrical, like you alluded to, so I think you would appreciate that he can tap too. Ahh man the rabbit hole goes deep
You two are like the counterparts to Ren and Sam, which makes for an interesting reaction, seeing things from both creative perspectives! (In answer to your final question: US Renegade. New Mexico. 🤠🌵🐎)
His genre he calls bardcore, like the wandering bards/minstrels from medieval england that told tales as songs as they travelled the country (think the singer in the witcher), musically you hear it at points most clearly at the start of violets tale, and lyrically eg screech tale "no refuge for our villian" and in his physicality e.g. at the end of violets tale how he stands and presents with his arms
61 year old female fan from Vermont. Saw Hi Ren on RUclips and was fascinated so I went down the rabbit hole and became more amazed by every subsequent video I watched. ❤
Amazing, i just found you guys today with Hi Ren and now Tale of Jenny and Screech, i love everytime someone goes down the rabbit whole. You got his beat 3 so far bit he has about another 10 bangers that us Ren fans will watch.
Does she always have those talons? She has a great voice and I’m sure I’d listen to her in Spotify but the talons I saw in chalk outlines were too distracting to get past for me in any videos or live
Violet was beaten to death by her boyfriend Stevie, not her father. The only question yet to be answered is whether the pregnancy was the result of her father's sexual abuse or the boyfriend.
I think someone solved that. Ren said that she moved out at 16 into a welfare flat. Someone said in the UK that it’s almost impossible to get those flats unless you have a child. So the assumption is she was pregnant when she moved out of her parents house and then she mets Stevie. It might be why Stevie is accusing her of lying and so violent toward her, she’s pregnant with someone else’s child and he beats her for perceived prior indiscretions despite the fact they weren’t together and he’s an ass
Hey guys, first time commenting, but I've seen all your Ren reactions, and some other content of yours, really diggin' the channel. Not gonna fill ya in on any more video details, I see the renegades have given you two more than enough to chew on. Just popped in about your question...before Hi Ren his fan base was mostly U.K., although, lucky for us, and Ren, he had a Florida fan, who's father was the one that gave Ren the stem cell surgery pretty much for free, that basically saved his life. After Hi Ren, forgettaboutit, big ups to the reaction community, and Ren being so involved with his fans, he was international almost overnight. I'm a 52yr old retired (early due to medical) firefighter from the Lou (St Louis MO) and hip-hop head, pause.... I've recently been told I'm an old head, but I'm gonna fight that title as long as I can..lol. Anyway great reaction as usual, on yeah, and I also do some drone videography as a side hustle until my old man benefits kick in, so I'm really enjoying your break downs from the directors point of view too, take care!! ✌️💚
You guys have all the makings of an amazing channel. Just keep going. You have an awesome looking set already, I love the design. Your commentary and vibe is simultaneously homey, comfy and cool, while also feeling somehow nostalgic to me. You should definitely check out different genres of Ren's songs since you've mostly done his stuff that leans on theatrical performance. He is a brilliant rapper, singer, and a composer. Rap songs like: Genesis, Sick boi, The Hunger, Animal flow, Murderer Amazing songs like: Power, Chalk outlines, How to be me, Ocean, Humble, Suic!de, Diazepam, Dominoes, Fire Then when you realize he is also in an incredible rock band "The Big Push" that mixes all the influences from Nina Simone, Bob Marley, The Rolling Stones, The Police, The Black Sabbath and so much more... its insane what this band accomplished. Check out their LIVE performances on the STREET that sound like STUDIO quality recordings Songs from The Big Push: I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop Wade in the water / Nina simone / Trouble so hard War Pigs (Black Sabbath cover) And THEN ITS NOT OVER... his performances with Sam Tompkins with his improv virtuosity and creativity are beyond unbelievable: Ren & Sam Tompkins - Walking On The Moon / No Diggity (Live Performance) Ren & Sam Tompkins - Earned it /Mans World / Falling Honestly, all this is just the start of the rabbit hole. There is so much material this guy has in his catalogue since he has been bedridden due to his sickness for YEARS and his only outlet was his music. It saved his life. And in his case, this is not just an empty phrase.
The thing is about Ren what he didn't have in budget he makes up for in creativity, hard work, and his amazing team. He's got a real tight team around him who are close friends and work with him, shooting his videos, playing instruments, acting with him etc. He NEVER stops creating on different platforms. Like he did a series of Instagram stories where he played Screech to accompany these songs... and then there was the Money Game Riddles... They call it a Rabbit Hole for a reason :D
it starts a generation prior to what many people realise... Violet's parents... her dad is violent, her mother is silent (a drinker, but she knows what her husband is doing, and stays quiet about it.. probably to save herself a beating)... Violet is killed by her own partner, Stevie...she's silent, he's violent James (screech) is violent and kills his sister Jenny, who again is the silent type... James and Jenny are names often given to orphans. they would have gone through the system and be separated at birth, only to chance upon one another at the end of it all.... Jenny had a feeling about that night... maybe that famous twin feeling people talk about. Jenny was walking the street in high heels, going home from work, late at night... she was a streetwalker, even at 14. it wasn't just Violet who never stood a chance.
Great reaction guys! I've been waiting for you guys to react to this. Would love to see you guys react to Genesis or Hunger. Really great songs that highlight his rap skills! Especially HUNGER.
I would have to disagree!! - for the first part at least.... Maybe Im to early in saying this as Ive paused right after Jennys tale but before Screechs...... and after Ive watched more maybe Ill need to come back to this thread to confirm or not......... But usually their reactions ARE great, however so far, they thought Screech was following Jenny - which he wasnt....... then they werent sure if James + Screech were 2 different people or not - which as we know, they are the same person...... and then they thought Jenny survived - which she didnt........... I mean come on, the song lyrics literally gave them those answers in the song before they asked these questions lol !

Yes James is screech. “James grew up to be a kid of the streets, his mates called him screech, he was quick on his feet”. Don’t know if it’s the same in America but saying someone is quick on their feet is basically saying they know how to fight.
He is a modern day bard, y'all. He uses music, theater, rap, etc. to tell a story. We haven't had anything like this before and he should be protected at all costs. Lol
I love how your reactions pick up so much more than lyrics or instruments. Thinking about the camera, lighting and letting that carry you though the videos. Appreciating art on all levels Predictions on point!! 18.43 😂🎉🎉 I think you guys should watch Bright eyed ft the angry car park attendant

Subs is just those hwo officiel subs . Under that there are more❤
Definitely international…..I’m from the US
Renegade here on the East Coast of USA ❤ Great job figuring out Violet was the mom. Thank you for reacting and being scared and not liking parts of the story. That tells me you were really engrossed in the Tales ❤❤ Subbed for more 🎉

REN is the GOAT
#savesickboi#freesickboi
Great set fellas, cheers for your reaction 👍🏻😊
Troubles, Genesis, The Hunger, Losing it, Illest of our time, Seven Sins, Wicked Ways, Love Music part 4 etc... for Ren's Rap, Rap!
I'm from Sweden and I've been listening to Ren ALOT. My spotify told me: You are among the 1% biggest fans. 🙈
Spanish renegade here!!! i think all Ren´s fan are of all the world!!! xD!!! Amazing reaction guys, love it!!!
Portugal mate!!!Ren is the best thing that happened in the last 50 years. you need go down the rabbit hole for sureeee!!!!Nice one :)
Pennsylvania here. Ren has a lot of USA RENagades and all over Europe. Great reaction guys! #freesickboi
South America in the house! I'm from Bolivia 🇧🇴 guys. Great reaction!! Now is time to do Chalk outlines and How to be me, both live-one-take videos and featuring Chinchilla. You won't regret it!!!
23:26 the kids never met each other that’s the sad part
Well, they did meet once, but he killed her.
The extra layers came from Instagram stories which nearly got Rens insta account closed down 😂
Jennys story is based on a true story from London. The paper said 'its such a shame'.
3 one take videos. All live. Ren has written a Netflix pilot.
72 from USA. O-HIGH-O. REN is one of the best artists out there.
Big Ren Fan from Canada =)
#savesickboi
OH also there were zero cuts, each individual Tale was one cut. They were originally 3 separate videos.
I'm a bit more excited than I ought to be but finding a new - and very good - pair of Ren reactors has lifted my mood no end. Nicely done, lads.
hello dears!!! let's go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wicked smile of anticipation!!!!!!! i love seeing what ren can do to peoples' minds-he sticks his slender fingers in your brain and makes you say wtf!!!! you guys didn't disappoint me, thanks. kathleen (USA)
it baffles me how people can get this wrong he wrote this in such a way he backs every point that happens several times
I think many people who listen to it for the first time find it difficult to distinguish exactly what is being said due to the accent. Others might concentrate more on the melody or the acting in certain parts instead of the message when they listen for the first time
I’ve been watching for all of 4 days, 67 years young, hooked ☮️ ❤️ 🏴
You guys are funny. Looking forward to more of your reactions. ❤️
Renegade from Canada... and now a THVS's subscriber
Ren with his guitar > 🇺🇸American music Industry
I never clicked so fast!!! Yes!
The Hunger next?
It's bandcore
Ren is so good! This is all live too. Great reaction. More Ren...
The Hunger will blow you
Ren is from Wales, moved to London, then Canada for treatment
His acting is perfect. It's like Broadway but better!
For fun check out - what you want.
Love both these suggestions... The Hunger and What You Want 🎉
You guys did well! - Renegade
@@Phazetic99 and illest of our time for rap
You two are like the counterparts to Ren and Sam, which makes for an interesting reaction, seeing things from both creative perspectives!
(In answer to your final question: US Renegade. New Mexico. 🤠🌵🐎)
Great reaction. Thank you. Im a BIG fan and Im in Copenhagen, Denmark
REN IS art- his multitude of impeccable skills is the medium.
Enjoyed this reaction
Amazing, i just found you guys today with Hi Ren and now Tale of Jenny and Screech, i love everytime someone goes down the rabbit whole. You got his beat 3 so far bit he has about another 10 bangers that us Ren fans will watch.
Just flew from Australia to UK to see Ren and Chinchilla perform. 1000% worth all the time, effort and $$$. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
Does she always have those talons? She has a great voice and I’m sure I’d listen to her in Spotify but the talons I saw in chalk outlines were too distracting to get past for me in any videos or live
Los Angeles fan here. Fun reaction! Thanks for covering it. 💜
,70 years young here Hazleton Pennsylvania.
Love your reactions! Would love for you to check out Ren's live Fred Again Mashup, Prof ft Ren Pain Salesmen, and Ren's The Hunger!
The fact yall were SMILING at the end is a MASSIVE Red Flag...
Thank you for reaction. Hungary here!
One of the best reactions I've heard about Ren was "he plays with his face". Couldn't be more true.
Arizona Ren fan here!! I'm closing in on 5000 Ren videos plus Ren reaction videos 😊
Loved yoyur reaction❤ sharing the love❤ liked ansd subscribed❤👍😀👍👍
Ren never spent more than 1k on a video. Yet was up for an award. Geniuses don’t need to much light to shine
#Renagades Ren is so 🔥!
I'm just going to be nice and say thank you for your reaction.
Kansas City ,USA here!!❤😊#SaveSickboi
"Who's Violet?" should be a T-shirt.
Ren fan from California, checking in!
Rap songs like: Genesis, Sick boi, The Hunger, Animal flow, Murderer
Amazing songs like: Power, Chalk outlines, How to be me, Ocean, Humble, Suic!de, Diazepam, Dominoes, Fire
Then when you realize he is also in an incredible rock band "The Big Push" that mixes all the influences from Nina Simone, Bob Marley, The Rolling Stones, The Police, The Black Sabbath and so much more... its insane what this band accomplished.
Check out their LIVE performances on the STREET that sound like STUDIO quality recordings
Songs from The Big Push:
I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop
Wade in the water / Nina simone / Trouble so hard
War Pigs (Black Sabbath cover)
And THEN ITS NOT OVER... his performances with Sam Tompkins with his improv virtuosity and creativity are beyond unbelievable:
Ren & Sam Tompkins - Walking On The Moon / No Diggity (Live Performance)
Ren & Sam Tompkins - Earned it /Mans World / Falling
Honestly, all this is just the start of the rabbit hole. There is so much material this guy has in his catalogue since he has been bedridden due to his sickness for YEARS and his only outlet was his music. It saved his life. And in his case, this is not just an empty phrase.
I'm a Canuck, 54 years old, metal guitarist, he is golden level talent.
In Screech's Tale at the end the camera blurs and fades out. I took thet as his vision going out as he was dieing.
-Florida!
He was not ready for the ending lol.
it starts a generation prior to what many people realise... Violet's parents... her dad is violent, her mother is silent (a drinker, but she knows what her husband is doing, and stays quiet about it.. probably to save herself a beating)...
Violet is killed by her own partner, Stevie...she's silent, he's violent
James (screech) is violent and kills his sister Jenny, who again is the silent type...
P.S. Canadian renegade here!
Loved your reaction.👍💕🦇
Great reaction guys! I like your prediction on Violet, so close!! I like your enthusiasm and your knowledge on production. This is definitely an Epic performance by Ren. Also, shout out to Samuel Perry-Falvey for his camera work. Good job fellas. More REN! Let’s try the Bob Marley, “I Shot The Sheriff”, Damian Marley, “Road To Zion” & Dead Prez, “HipHop” mashup covers. It’s classic busking by The Big Push band. Ren was a member, vocal/guitarist.
A swedish renegade over here, youtube made his fan base global ❤🇸🇪
Patrick was with the lady Screech called and that's why he wasn't home and why she was busy.
Yes James is screech. “James grew up to be a kid of the streets, his mates called him screech, he was quick on his feet”. Don’t know if it’s the same in America but saying someone is quick on their feet is basically saying they know how to fight.
Originally these were released as three separate videos.
He is a modern day bard, y'all. He uses music, theater, rap, etc. to tell a story. We haven't had anything like this before and he should be protected at all costs. Lol
The term "Bardcore" is perfect for Rens style. He's a modern day minstrel. Love him.
It's so minimalist, but NOTHING IS MISSING!
Part of the genius is that you write the rest of their stories in your head for a long time after watching.
Yep! I love how he uses the acoustics of the space he's in to add to the sound.
I love how your reactions pick up so much more than lyrics or instruments. Thinking about the camera, lighting and letting that carry you though the videos.
Appreciating art on all levels
Predictions on point!! 18.43 😂🎉🎉 I think you guys should watch Bright eyed ft the angry car park attendant
You Sir are the fastest to catch the link that I have seen and Ive seen most of them. Wow! You two quickly becoming my favorites. Not UK based..Im michigan based.
They didn't though... lol. :)
@Codex7777 they did enough to change their perspective of the song from the rest of us, and that's a win in my book.
78 year old lady in California! Big RENegade fan! I like your reactions!
