This series will explore percussion-heavy covers of some of my favorite songs. It’s a great excuse for me to experiment with all of these fun percussion instruments I keep in the studio. They will be part acoustic covers, part percussion experimentation.
This video features a classic from the 90s: Sublime’s Doin’ Time. The original features some awesome samples, a signature keyboard part, and an absolutely epic bass line! So this version is a bit of a turn from that, as it is more focused on some different percussion and rhythmic aspects of the song. I hope you enjoy my take on it, even though it is quite different.
