Heck yes. If on a budget, well worth look into OpenSourceSDRLabs if wanting one. So far it checks out with a few basic app tests.
One difference though, is my laptop speaker one (did a video on my installing this) is MUCH louder / better quality sound. Might open it up and see what we are working with.
Will likely do a comparison video, and more other fun stuff!

I just recently got one too!!! I love it. Would 32gb be enough or should I put a 128 gb sd card in?

32GB is plenty for 99% of people - unless you plan on storing a ton of extra stuff / recordings. Even then, takes good bit work, to use all 32GB.
Though if you plan on using it to store continuous recording, can't hurt to go big for the long-term.

Hi there. I'm thinking of buying a HackRF and I see that you have both the Hamgeek one and the OpenSDRlabs one. There's about a $40 difference on Aliexpress. Is the Hamgeek worth the extra money in your opinion please?
    Cheers 😀

Hey there! I see both as worth the money charged. I do like the hamgeek look. Make sure to check if speaker comes with it before ordering - though I did install a louder speaker from an old thinkpad laptop on my hamgeek portapack, which worked out great (hamgeek with thinkpad speaker much louder than speaker coming in OpenSDRLabs).
Both normally offer the R9 board if buying the package deal - you may even want to opt for the Clifford Heath revision instead of this, if concerned about burning out the hackrf (R9 more vulnerable to this).
So far, all my boards work well as I am very careful not to turn amplification too high... so it's really a personal choice! But those are my thoughts.

You reckon it’s possible to fit a screen protector on it, without it pushing up against the shell?

I'd love to put a screen protector on mine! Hadn't seen those.
Are you going to make one? Cool idea if so!

@@RTPTechTips yeah I was doing something like until the transmitting amp stopped working on it 😂. I was only able to get like a few feet so I just ended up returning it

It's an R9. I would really like to try the Clifford Heath version in future, for sure.

Can this be used as a digital police scanner?

    • @RTPTechTips
      @RTPTechTips  2 месяца назад +1

Not out of the box, would need more hardware. Some set up a couple rtl-sdr for this.
With hackrf / portapck you still can pick up emergency radio in many areas.
