  • Today we're looking at the Looking Glass and Audio apps! These two apps are two of the MOST important apps on the HackRF! Now we can see signals directly on a graphical waterfall and then open those up in the Audio app to record them! So cool!!

    Hey Talking Sasquach. Get an Armature Radio Licence! You'll learn a lot more about radio training to get a licence than anywhere else (other than going to university). The training is free and it'll open a whole new world of hacking about with tech you never knew existed. Including making your own perfectly tuned antenna that you can hook up to your Hack RF.....

    Great video! A cool little project that I am trying to figure out is how to hack a Sonic Care toothbrush to reset the nfc timer. The guide by Cyrill Künzi uses a HackRF to sniff for the password and then writes the NFC to the toothbrush. I only have a flipper and I was able to capture the password but now I’m stuck on the write function. Looks like I’ll have to look into getting a HackRF now haha

    i'm NOT AT ALL saying that the hackrf is redundant (because it can be used for a TON of stuff as you've previously demonstrated in your videos), but how does the functionality you've demonstrated here with looking glass and audio differ from using something like a cheap rtl-sdr with free software like sdr# or another foss app? are there any reasonable strengths to the hackrf implementation?

    • @TalkingSasquach
      @TalkingSasquach  Месяц назад +2

      Size is a big factor.

    • @joshhardin666
      @joshhardin666 Месяц назад

      @@TalkingSasquachI don't mean to be pedantic or anything, but an rtl-sdr dongle is about the size of a usb flash drive, I can screw a rubber duck antenna (or telescoping antenna if i want something variable), and it can easily plug into the bottom of the phone i'm realistically carrying in my pocket anyway. And if i wanted to make it barely bigger than the phone itself, i could stick it all together with a nice 3d printed enclosure with a couple hours in fusion and a little tpu for about $3. - again, not knocking the hack rf any, it looks like a fantastic device, I'm just trying to compare the feature set to see if there was something i was missing when it comes to the sdr reception capabilities.

      you only looking at the Rx part of this unit, real power is when you go into Tx mode.

    Max Hold is related to peak power, it remembers the last known peak power and keeps adding on. Nothing to do with Frequency lock.

    • @TalkingSasquach
      @TalkingSasquach  Месяц назад +1

      I haven't fried one myself, but I've been told by the people I consider experts that it's pretty easy to do. Shuffle your feet on the carpet and touch the antenna and it can go zap
