We started out with Ring, spent hundreds on all their cameras and HAD to upgrade our Internet, to the top tier/speed, in order for all the cams to work....even had a couple extenders. Wyze works great for us and we have a dog & Grandkids which means, sometimes a door is opened to let the dog out and that extra time to enter the code would be nice.

I purchased the Ring alarm Pro after watching this review a year ago. After working with Ring and Eero for many months, I returned the unit. We were never able to figure out why my perfectly working internet would slow down to a crawl or drop out all together. Eero is a great product and I happened to have one to test with along the Ring Alarm Pro. Everything worked fine until you swap in the Ring. I returned it because even though I can connect after my router, I lose cellular backup, which to me was the main selling point of the Ring Pro
I have been an avid user of Wyze products for quite some time, and while I genuinely appreciate the innovative approach they bring to home monitoring, I recently encountered a situation that I believe deserves attention. My experience with the Wyze home monitoring system has been generally positive, but I faced an issue that halted its functionality. I made multiple attempts to address this concern, reaching out to the support team in hopes of finding a solution. However, the communication seemed primarily via email, which made it challenging to address the issue effectively. As someone who values home security, I believe it's crucial for any monitoring system to be robust and dependable. My intention in sharing this feedback is to highlight the importance of prompt and efficient support channels. When it comes to the security of our homes and loved ones, having reliable communication and swift problem resolution is paramount.
I love my Wyze home monitoring service $5/month! For extra $5/month (total $10/month) Wyze should add the same backup cellular data connection as Ring.
There are some more things I’m noticing that wyze needs to improve…when power is out, it does have a backup battery but you don’t get any notifications on your phone that the power is out, 8 hours later the hub is dead and if you are out of the house, then you didn’t know that the power went out and now the alarm is useless.
Incredible until you get burned by one of it's MANY short comings. Been there done that and prefer to do my homework and chose a better solution than Wyze. I understand people are on a budget but this just has too many flaws and is frankly not reliable at all.
Fantastic review! You are going to save a lot of money for people who are deciding on this alarm system. Most burglars don't cut the power or internet. They are usually in and out in just a few minutes. When my in-laws house was broken into(29yrs ago) the bad guy just leaned into the front door and pushed on it breaking the wood around the deadbolt. Some construction workers saw the whole thing and said he was in and out. But I do agree with you about having a backup in case someone cuts your power. That also goes with your security camera system. These days the criminals are getting more sophisticated. We need to stay one step ahead. Thanks again for your hard work!
Backup is a must… I use my ring alarm for notifications if my power and/or my internet is down..and if it does, I check the Nextdoor app in my neighborhood making sure the outage is not just in my house, and if it is, then I have to go back home to check it out..
I have wyze and for the price of everything its well worth it compared to ring its 100.00s of dollars less for the cams and censors. If you live in an area that has a high crime rate I recommend ring, but if you don't wyze is perfect for you.
I have an old school ADT alarm with wired sensors on all entries and wired phone dialup, about $2000 to install. The monitoring fees were high, $75/month. After many years, the panel failed. I had to decide whether to replace the panel, or go to newer tech. The price of the Wyze is $100, plus $5 / month monitoring fee. So cheap, and mostly does the job. The Ring Alarm is $250 with $10/mo monitoring, and it's probably a little better. Both are much cheaper than my old system. It's better to have an alarm that is less than perfect, rather than have no alarm. I'll give Wyze a try and if I don't like it, go with Ring. If it scares off even only one burglar, it's a bargain. More than money is your safety. I've had 3 burglars since my alarm panel failed, and I was home. Scary. I yelled and ran them out, but if they had been hard cases, I might be dead. For me, a working alarm is a must.

Nice review. I have a question regarding the monitoring deactivation. 1. If I setup the sensors, but not subscribed for either monthly or yearly, can I still use them? I guess, in that case, which part doesn't work? Keypad, alarms or no notifications from motion and door sensors? 2. Can you adjust syren volume separately from system sound? What I mean is when you open door I want chime sound very low so no one can hear it but if siren goes off I want it to be on full volume.
Thank you. I live in a stormy area. I need a system that will continue to protect me when the internet goes down and the lights go out. What is the point without it? Not so Wise.
Like many others mine did not want to let me setup the home monitoring. Eventually I was able to but now cannot access it. Support consists of instructions by minimal knowledgeably customer service reps read from the same script. It does notify when sensors are tripped so it's sort of a security system.
Wyze is a toy product, and shouldn’t be used for anything critical. I use FrontPoint for my alarm system, Hubitat for my home automation, Ring cameras for outside, and Wyze cams for inside to check on my dogs and general things in the house.
Correct! don't put all your eggs in one basket! I use different camera brands as well with local recording to cover the lapse if my internet goes down. I can always review the local storage when I get home to see what happened. FrontPoint is another good choice in a system. It's all a matter of choice and preference for YOU!
Thanks for the info! Someone is finally telling the truth about a home security system! The info given is what I need to decide which system to spend money on.
Have you tried the climate sensors? I am trying to see if you can set one of their outlets to turn on if the sensor measures less than 66 degrees and then turn off it goes above 69. Looking to trigger a heater in a bedroom.
Their V3 cams are great cameras if all you need are basic cameras. I really like mine. The rest of their products are half baked at best though this looks like it as potential. Eventually I'll probably swap out my V3s for Eufy cams since I won't use Ring, Blink, or Nest products.
Why not? Just asking. Ring just added end-to-end encryption to their cameras so even Ring can't view the footage. I cannot speak for Blink or Nest. Ring was shaky in the beginning but they have taken steps to secure their cameras security recently after many complaints. I'm not a drug dealer or doing anything shady and I really did not care if my outside videos were being shared with Police but they have taken steps to prevent this.
You said the Achilles heel of the Wyze system is the lack of backup cellular backup. Can this problem be resolved by having a USB backup for the wifi router/modem setup?
Great. I just purchased several Wyze V3 cameras to integrate with the Wyze HMS. I think it can handle max 5 cameras. I really am impressed with these cameras. Plan to mix it with my Arlo Pro’s. Do you know if there is a lag time when using the UPS backup in case power is cutoff compared to the cellular backup method?
They tend to have a lot of app problems at times which messes with notifications. It's frustrating. I just feel they need to fix the cameras, notifications and app issues first before moving on to all these other products. They kinda work and kinda don't. Just not reliable But wireless door bell would be good. If it was reliable.
*I hate the pathetic chime sound.* Want door entry sensor to trigger a true alarm sound. They only seem to allow low med high chime sound. No option to change the sound from chime to something else. Chime DOES NOT sound intimidating or as a deterrent. *Am I missing something? Does anyone know how to change the door entry sound?*
Thank you for the review. But I am still going with both the Nest Secure and the Ring alarm system. They both has more features. My ring alarm system hasn't arrived yet but I will be doing a video when it arrives. I bought a 14 piece kit from ebay

@LifeHackester Please, Do you think RING still is the best option after the increase of the monthly protection plan? I was ready to choose RING when this happened :(
So I used to have SimpliSafe $15 a month…I went and got Wyze which is wayyyy cheaper. My only issues with the Wyze security (and Im new so I might be missing something): the alarm(siren) is really low. I only have an 1800 sq ft house and you can’t hear crap from the Wyze hub. Im seeing that the cameras may provide a siren and I have a bunch of those, so I’ll look into that…2nd issue which is minor..it’s kind of annoying to get the notifications of my doors opening (even when the system is disarmed)…motion sensor does that too (even when it’s disarmed)…kind of annoying…I’m still playing with settings so this may be stuff that can change…the reallyyyyy good news is the monitoring is so fast when they contact you I was convinced it was fake…I forgot alarm was armed and opened the garage door to put my trash 20ft away into the can and by the time I got back to that door text on my phone was from the monitoring company…that’s extremely good!!
It looks like this system does not provide its own internet? is it reliant on your home internet like all of there other products? This sucks cause what if the power goes off?
How does cellular backup work ?? If your not home and your phone is with you how does a system work with cellular?? Also I thought I read on Wyze that this had battery backup?? I’m really confused on the cellular backup though. What exactly is that and how does it work if your cell phone is with you out of town. With cellular backup wouldn’t you have to be home with your phone ??
Cellular backup like on the ring alarm, they will have it on their base station. It is a separate cellular/data connection and it is not going through your phone.
I have Emc monitor my system for $25.00 a month with no outside wires to cut operated by an indoor battery have you ever done any reviews on this system in Carroll County Georgia?
something odd. everytime i set the system for 'away', Wyze monitoring has an outtage and does not record events for an hour or so. i am getting a little paranoid about this. went out twice, received a notice twice about an outtage for just those hours.
Despite the “Ugly” I still believe it’s a great low cost option for apartments and homes. Life Hackster…. I’m sure that you have cameras aimed around your home. If an intruder were to cut the power, I’m certain you would see that on video as that would trigger an alert.
I like wyze too but they are getting half assed I would have bought there wireless camera but it’s night vision is shitty after having the V3 I will not take a step back to that crappy night vision. Fix the night vision on the wireless camera I’m sure you will sell a lot more of them.
If you forget your account password, when the alarm goes off, don't worry Noonlight Monitor Service will give you the password if you tell them the phone number on the account . Police will not show up. Unfortunately you cannot change that to a security question you choose, so I if the person who trips your alarm knows your phone they ate in:(
Why in the world would you need a cellular backup anyways? 9 times out of 10 you’ll be home when the power goes out, + most power outages occur when it’s thunder storming. No one wants to go breaking into houses in the middle of a thunderstorm. It’s not that big of a deal, they’re a newer alarm system and they’re continuously working on new features.
You need cellular back up trust me…the 1 out of 10 times the power is out, that’s the time you need your alarm to work. I do get notified by ring if my power or my internet is down and when it does, I check the next door app in my neighborhood and make sure that it is not just my house and if it is, I go home to check it out…let’s say your there was an electrical short at your house, which started a fire, tripped your breakers..with Ring aside from having a smoke and fire alarm, you will also get notified via cellular backup and it will call the fire department will be dispatched…how about if you have a wyze alarm? What will happen?
When you work 12hrs a day and are not home as much as you are there you do not want to know what's going on when you are not at home?? Really?? Do you not work and are home all day? 9 times out of 10 my power goes out when I am not at home and with cellular backup I still know what's happening. You don't want to know someone is raping your house in real time as opposed to getting home several hours later and you door is kicked in and you have major damage from a 2hour storm and then have major water damage that could have been avoided? Really? Did you really think about what you just said?? It appears not!
Let me take that one step further, Say a pipe bursts in your home would you prefer the water to flow for several hours vs. knowing there is a problem and you can avoid thousands of dollars of extra damage because you could stop the problem because a system let you know it was happening? Yes, extra cost for flood/freeze sensors but peanuts vs. the damage that can happen. So in case the power goes out and without Cellular backup you have NO clue whats going in your home and you just have no clue till you get home and fine all your stuff ruined that could have been avoided. If you've dealt with insurance they will weasel their way out of paying at any costs and come up with a fault on your end or refuse to pay and drop your policy like a rock. I know many people that got screwed and had to pay out-of-pocket for "not covered" damage from their insurance policy. So, long story short you get what you pay for and Wyze is a total joke for any protection. Ring and other systems will give you a certificate that will give you a discount on your insurance policy as a valid security system and works with police and fire to prevent further damage to your home! If you live in an apartment then Wyze is for you but wont cover property loss and personal loss! Do you homework!
@@johnszatkowski6898What are the chances that you have a power outage and a water pipe burst? Just unlikely for both to happen at the same time. Not everyone can afford the extra cost, better than no system.

I already know people that had Wyze thinking they were safe only to come home and find there house raped without a single notification and QUICKLY dropped it and went elsewhere. Not happened to me because I never put myself in that situation and I know other people that did and were let down! OK, you saved $5 a month but what good is that when your house is burned down or rapped because someone simply cut your cable connection and you have NO CLUE. Thank about that? What did you really save at that point? I get most people like to live in the "perfect" world but I know myself nothing is perfect. You live in your "perfect" world till you get burned and then lets have this conversation again because you decided to save yourself $20 a year for no cellular backup that other systems offer for only $30 a year more WITH notifications and you have a CLUE as to what's going on around your home/place. Sleep well knowing what you have is NOT worth it! You get what you pay for to save a measly $20 a YEAR for cellular backup and know what's happening 24/7???? Are you kidding me? Ever hear of the term "shit happens"? apparently not for you...
Around here, almost all utilities come in on the sides of the house; including electricity, gas, telephone ( if you have it ) and cable/internet. All are accessible from the outside, including either disconnects, or in the case of internet, just cut the cable on the outside. Even the electricity can be disconnected simply by opening the junction box and flipping the switch. And nearly every house in the neighborhood is constructed the same way. The only safe internet service would be if one uses some sort of my-fi from a wireless carrier, with a battery backup inside.
I wouldn't trust wyze to protect your home .. its a toy.. maybe use it for a shed or garage not your home. you be wyze to look at something more professional
Wyze Home Monitoring doesn’t currently work for so many people. It’s a “know issue” according to Wyze if you call them. Funny how they quickly report when AWS impacts their services but NOT when their own software doesn’t work. Wyze does provide a partial credit for equipment that doesn’t work. If you ordered equipment across several orders they seem to only be willing to credit the first order. This makes no sense, at least to me. I loved Wyze. But if you go into home security you need to have a reliable product. When you mess up, you need to communicate. If you can’t fix it, you need to make it right. Three strikes and you’re out [of this house].
I opened mines and installed a tweeter I accidentally triggered the alarm lmao my neighbors called the cops 👮♀️ and I woke everyone up in the house increased the sound to 137db
I'm not here to plug another system but Ring's servers are a disaster, at let where I am at. Their 'software update' late Summer 2021 has rendered my Doorbell and other cameras useless. They are not connecting when trying to access live viewing and notifications are coming 5 minutes late or more. Working with customer support I all get is please disconnect and reconnect it and try moving it closer to router or extenders. I have done all of this, even before I called, and nothing worked. All systems have their issues but something should not be down or have issues more than six months. I would stay it could just be me but when I know many individuals within the area running into the same issues there is something wrong with that platform currently. Just be cautious of Ring if you are reading this around when I posted it. This may not be affecting their home security system but I would guess it would be.
Their cameras are pretty good from the price standpoint! And they will record to a memory card if the internet goes down and you can review later. I use these as my backup cameras to review footage in case of an internet loss that I can review later.
I don't think the people behind the Wyze security system put too much thought into their system seeing as it's totally reliant on your home internet and the hub battery is only good for roughly 8 hours. The Wyze system also looks like a generic bare bones alarm system that one might get a discount store. I guess that is why their security system bundle only cost $60 instead of $200 -$400 like most DIY systems cost. I do however think the Wyze system is good choice for an apartment, but not for an actual house. Most people would agree that when it comes to protecting you home, you can't afford to have a system that is lacking key features like 24/48 hour battery life and cellular backup plus the peace of mind that you are getting service from a reputable company like Ring, SimpliSafe or ADT.

I can always review the local storage when I get home to see what happened. FrontPoint is another good choice in a system. It's all a matter of choice and preference for YOU!
Thanks for the info! Someone is finally telling the truth about a home security system! The info given is what I need to decide which system to spend money on.
Thank you. I appreciate it.
really nice review.
Have you tried the climate sensors? I am trying to see if you can set one of their outlets to turn on if the sensor measures less than 66 degrees and then turn off it goes above 69. Looking to trigger a heater in a bedroom.
Great review. Exactly my opinion....no backup feature is irresponsible.
Very well done. 👍
I wish Wyze would expand the functionality of the keypad. I wish it could be used as a smart buttons to control lights, camera and set modes.
Ring just raised their home monitoring to $20 a month as of September.
You said the Achilles heel of the Wyze system is the lack of backup cellular backup. Can this problem be resolved by having a USB backup for the wifi router/modem setup?
Meant to say UPS backup…
Yes. So that you will have internet even when the power is out.
12:00 you can setup a backup cell separately.
Wyze needs to make their own notification sound instead of using the standard notification sound. My phone gets hundreds of notifications a day...
You can set different notification sounds per app
@@elevatedvue8031 I will have to learn how
@@elevatedvue8031 On an Android device, yes. But not on an Apple one currently. Custom sounds are left up to the developer to make.
What do you think about privacy concerns. One RUclipsr said that Ring was worse when to come to privacy
Does the contact sensor and the motion sensor trigger alexa routines?
Thank you for the review. But I am still going with both the Nest Secure and the Ring alarm system. They both has more features. My ring alarm system hasn't arrived yet but I will be doing a video when it arrives. I bought a 14 piece kit from ebay
Alarm system is not really a thing you should cheap out on and you can’t even self monitor the wyze alarm
@@jaredsalem5837 They brand it as "ring alarm" but the system I mean is ring alarm. also what do you mean by "You should cheap out"?
just sucks that Ring has had so many different types of Vulnerabilities hacked. And that state sponsored entities can access your system
@@br0k3nilluzion they really do not simplisafe actually has a way bigger one with radio frequency interference

I have a question, just purchased the reolink argus 3 pro, doesn't it also won't send push massages when the WiFi is oof?
Do you have any videos on ring garage smart censor?
Nope but I will actually do a review of the MyQ smart garage opener and I’ll integrate it with the Ring app
@@LifeHackster thank you! Looking forward to it! Not sure if you want to do it but I think Amazon offer garage delivery and I think it would work with MyQ censors.
LifeHackster, how about a test/review of how well Amazon Sidewalk internet works for your Ring battery cameras when internet and power are down.
Is it possible to see a review on the Lorex wireless camera with a spotlight that uses their wireless nvr?
I have to check it out…
Have you reviewed the Cove security system?
Great review! Why not smoke, fire and CO monitoring?
@LifeHackester Please, Do you think RING still is the best option after the increase of the monthly protection plan?
I was ready to choose RING when this happened :(
Does it work in Canada?
Can i use this at business store
“Wyze motion sensor V2”. But I didn't even know a V1 existed...
What would you recommend for for a self monitored system that doesn't have a monthly fee?
Abode
Great!
You can turn off the notifications or even automate them with rules you can make same as with the cameras.
It looks like this system does not provide its own internet? is it reliant on your home internet like all of there other products?
This sucks cause what if the power goes off?
Battery back ups I have several my internet does not go down when power goes out nether doe my main computer or cameras
Can you install a yale alarm.
WHY NOT CONSIDERING TAPO C110?
Can you just buy the hub and sensors without having the home monitoring service....
something odd. everytime i set the system for 'away', Wyze monitoring has an outtage and does not record events for an hour or so. i am getting a little paranoid about this. went out twice, received a notice twice about an outtage for just those hours.
All these cons are very minor. I think Wyze has the best per price point and easy to use.
I was going to get this system until you said no cellular
I heard you can actually self monitor now
Wyze slowly getting greedier like the other big companies.
My safe word is pineapple juice
Despite the “Ugly” I still believe it’s a great low cost option for apartments and homes.
Life Hackster…. I’m sure that you have cameras aimed around your home.
If an intruder were to cut the power, I’m certain you would see that on video as that would trigger an alert.
This is just more Wyze junk - I gave up on Wyze years ago. All of their products are just toys at best - Save your money. But a good review.
I like wyze too but they are getting half assed I would have bought there wireless camera but it’s night vision is shitty after having the V3 I will not take a step back to that crappy night vision. Fix the night vision on the wireless camera I’m sure you will sell a lot more of them.
The sensors work up to 500ft.
Cool..good to know..
@@Gildashard ,
Well, my my ISP was doing MUCH maintenance and was looking at major internet downtime MANY times a day this Wyze would NOT support my needs as you are totally blind as my house could have burned downed and would have ever know it! Have you ever considered someone being drunk and taking out a telephone pole in front of your house or an accident or a natural disaster? Your blind with this system without a cellular backup. Your still gonna stand behind this WEAK attempt at security for $20 more a year? Yeah, I guess pay less and pay later is good for you.... Ever hear of the term "shit happens"? apparently not for you...
Cellular cost money it's not free. Who pays for the cellular service? Is it free with a ring alarm with no home monitoring?
Im using simplisafe for my house
👍
Around here, almost all utilities come in on the sides of the house; including electricity, gas, telephone ( if you have it ) and cable/internet. All are accessible from the outside, including either disconnects, or in the case of internet, just cut the cable on the outside. Even the electricity can be disconnected simply by opening the junction box and flipping the switch.
And nearly every house in the neighborhood is constructed the same way. The only safe internet service would be if one uses some sort of my-fi from a wireless carrier, with a battery backup inside.
They don’t have glass break sensors or panic button!
Why does this system and their battery cameras need a hub?
I wouldn't trust wyze to protect your home .. its a toy.. maybe use it for a shed or garage not your home. you be wyze to look at something more professional
Don't answer the door when the Wyze doorbell rings - it'll probably be the WMB...(Wyze Men in Black).... 😁
Pity thumbs up :)
👋
This may not be affecting their home security system but I would guess it would be.
im just gonna use the hub tbh
Why can’t you use a cellular Wi-Fi card That way it’s always got Wi-Fi
Wyze's Achilles Heel?...Everything. Spend the extra $ and buy something else...
Never been a fan of any Wyze products - they are just cheap....
Their cameras are pretty good from the price standpoint! And they will record to a memory card if the internet goes down and you can review later. I use these as my backup cameras to review footage in case of an internet loss that I can review later.

Lol you can’t rob this guys house. He has too much security.
This dude just hates on all the Wyze products lol.
