Kurt Angle and Mick Foley come to mind immediately when I see this title. Those guys put their bodies through hell and back for the love of the business and for the entertainment of the fans. They deserve all the R&R they want and more.
Those Mick Foley steel step bumps he took all the time were like a damn car crash, not to mention losing his ear, getting thrown off and falling through the cell, taking all the chair shots while handcuffed by the rock, landing on thumbtacks many times, flaming weapons and barbed wire. That man is my hero.
Honestly…all those times he landed on solid concrete were the scariest. The cell bump, he was so close to missing the table and hitting the floor. When Vader powerbombed him on the floor in WCW I felt it thru the screen 🤕
Always had a huge respect for pro wrestling. The crazy bumps and stunts wrestlers do just for the sake of entertainment. Sometimes as fans we take for granted.
I'm actually surprised Jake Roberts didn't make the list. While he wasn't quite injured as badly as others here, the guitar shot that caused him to start the painkiller addiction definitely messed him up for awhile. Glad that he's had a hell of a rebound since those days.
I guess there isn't a wrestler alive, or passed, who hasn't had to suffer for their craft. I can't imagine doing what each and everyone of them do and then walk away unscathed. Kudos to all of them.
How in gods name Foley is still alive blows my mind, even more so how the hell Foleys still got the mind and head he has after the sheer level of punishment is not only amazing but in the world of CTE is absolutely incredible (in the best way)
Honorable Mention(s): AJPW's Four Pillars of Heaven (Misawa, Kobashi, Kawada, Taue) Those four dudes literally were always at 11 every night in every AJPW tour, especially Misawa. He is a cautionary tale for his infamous neck bumps that led to his death in 2009.
Dynamite Kid and Chris Benoit all had similar injuries and died tragically. Hence, why I was glad Bryan Danielson retired for that period. He was going the same way and I didn't want that for him. He is now healthier and good for him.
@@tomseville2345 I think losing my mind and killing people I care about would be tragic. Do you actually have difficulty understanding brain damage beyond a first grade level?
Kevin Nash, wow I've heard of that condition before but never actually seen it, where one of your legs is shorter than the other. I think Frank Zappa had the same thing from his injury at the Rainbow but it's rare.
This right here is why it is hard for me to see people treat Vince like he is a god of some sort. Truth is, if you aren’t The Rock, Stone Cold, Triple H, Undertaker and few others, once you’re out of the biz, the company doesn’t know you anymore; kinda like the “new phone, who dis?” meme.

It’s cool if that’s your thing but Undertaker, a guy who actually can work as a big man, earns a lot more respect than a guy that made it by carrying Shawn Michaels bags and being around in time for the Steroid trial to get rid of the other “Big Men” around.
I heard that in the final days of his career Mark Calaway (The Undertaker) had to have his legs inyected before every match so he could perform, honestly the man should have retired a decade before he did, lets hope he is taking better care of himself and that he has a great life in retirement.
Jun Kasai has absolutely destroyed his body, I mean look at the guy, crazy monkey is the perfect moniker, also I think Aja Kong is another person who has destroyed their body, she doesn't exactly walk fast, absolutely love both these performers and I believe they should be considered all time greats
nah jun kasai was never good wrestler to begin with . he had just crazy charisma and shit ton of scars from lot of unenesary stupid spots and shit ton of blading . but i liked his character
I'm surprised Stone Cold isn't on this list, his career lasted less than 10 years because of injuries, also Shawn Michaels HHH, Brett Hart and British Bulldog put their bodies through hell for wrestling
Hurt yourself in spectacular manner=People feel bad is not wrestling psychology. Mick deserves credit for alot of things but he's not a great psychologist.
I think Kurt Angle is a cautionary tale on what pro wrestling can do to your body and mind. Go back and look at how spry he was when he started and look at him now. He can barely move his neck.
Honestly how is Shawn Michaels not there? He literally broke his back in the casket match in 98, yet still came to WM 14 to perform while very visibly in terrible pain, then had to stop wrestling for 4 years and a half. That is just one of the injuries he went through in his career. PS: Now seeing Funk and what is said about him in this video has a new meaning after his passing a few days ago.
I'm surprised U didn't include Chris Benoit here. I don't think anyone suffered as much through injuries & putting their bodies on the line than he did(so did his family). Those diving headbutts were scary as hell but it scared the hell out of me when the wrestlers would move out of the way & Benoit used to land on his head. Dude was a suicidal maniac but what made him special is that Benoit being one of the best technical wrestlers of all time was also equally capable of hardcore violence. He's one of those wrestlers who in any match he's involved used to take most of the bumps & serious hits regardless he won or lost. Tragic & sad how his story ended but his tale should be a reminder for everyone when to stop. Also, honourable mentions should go to Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Sabu & RVD I also believe Foley should've made the no.1 entry here. Ideally, it should be either Benoit or Foley.
While things are a lot better now, at just about every promotion, don't think wrestlers aren't still doing that, especially younger wrestlers trying to stay in the company.
I'd say Brett Hart who had to retire early and permanently due to severe concussions. Same goes for Chris Nawinski, who was originally supposed to be the "intellectual savior of the masses" before Damien Sandow took over that role of educated heal and ran with it. I also won't forget Own Hart, who's body sustained the highest level of ruin any man ever could - enough said about that.
Dynamite Kid body went thru hell & he brought a flying style to WWE. SO how could he be at back of list & even put Nash around him. ? Could've even put D Von Dudley & Sid Viscious and even Sabu.
They basically all put themselves through a ton physically. Some a bit more than others and some have had unfortunate injuries. But wrestling is physical. I knew a friend who tried it, didn’t get very far. He said it’s basically as physical as playing football. You get banged around a lot.

The fact that Mick Foley still has a fully functioning brain & can still walk & live to tell his tales 25-30 years later is absolutely insane.
