This is when the Simpson's had heart and comedy. Great moral lessons that aren't contrived and shoved down your throat.

When Bart was expected to apologize, he had to do it in front of the entire family but, at least he didn't have to do it in front of his aunts and grandfather making himself feel embarrassed.

@@bradleystopher8725 That's right. In some ways, he kind of apologized in front of Homer without Homer knowing but, at least Bart got some space to do it on the roof. Of course, I'm guessing after the family ate turkey sandwiches late at night, Homer or Marge called the rest of the family late saying that Bart apologized.

It’s not as absurd as it sounds. Houses built in snowy regions of the United States are built with reinforced roofs that are more than safe to stand on. As for the great parents, that is about the fact that they eventually forgave each other.
Still love the first nine seasons of the show. To me back in the day it balanced both the heart and comedy together while also being entertaining.
The heart was gone by season 5 for the most part

@Joseph Zielinski He probably only apologized for the sake of eating some pumpkin pie since that's what he was mostly wanting especially he probably never really felt in his heart finding a "sorry" spot after Lisa told him to search for a spot since Bart can be a naughty kid.
It's amazing how Bart is still hungry to eat turkey sandwiches from 1:39-1:57 since I'm sure he ate a big meal with those homeless people where I would have thought he would have been full by that point.

I somewhat like this episode but it also made me sad at how Bart ran away from his family when he ruined thanksgiving and everyone felt sad on thinking not coming back. But at least he apologized to Lisa.

Lisa: Bart, the only reason to apologize is if you look deep down inside yourself, and you find a spot, something you wish wasn't there because you feel bad you hurt your sister's feelings.
Bart: (stubbornly) Leave me alone.
Lisa: Just look!
Bart: No! If I say that I’m sorry, no one accepts my apologies. Earlier today, I refused to do that, and then I decided to run away from home after I threw your stupid centerpiece into the fireplace and it was all because that I hate you and ruined Thanksgiving. Plus, you on the other hand said that I didn’t even care, and it’s not like we’re being genuine to one another, whatever that means.
Lisa: (looks at the audience) I had a feeling he’d say that. (to Bart) (sighs) Listen, Bart. When someone accepts your apologies, they’ll forget about what you did was wrong in the past if they know it was an accident, and we all know that you ruining Thanksgiving was all just a huge misunderstanding, especially when I said that you didn’t even care, but the point is, even if we can’t hold the grudge, we’re still siblings, and we’ll always love each other no matter what and for better or worse.
Bart: Pfft… Yeah right.
Lisa: Come on, Bart. Please? I promise I’ll accept your apology if you tell me you’re sorry, and I’ll even make another centerpiece on Christmas. Do we have a deal?
(Bart just stands there quietly)
Lisa: (turns around) Or I can just leave you alone if you don’t wanna talk to me ever anymore for the rest of your life. It’s your choice.
Bart: (giving in) Okay, okay. (closes his eyes and hums, muttering) Looking for the spot. Still checking. Oh, this is so stupid. I'm not gonna find anything. Just because I wrecked something she worked really hard on and I made her cr-- (opens his eyes) Uh-oh. (puts his hand on her shoulder) I'm sorry, Lisa.
Lisa: (hugs Bart) Apology accepted. (kisses him)

It was getting late so they probably didn't want to bother calling back their relatives. And again, it's nighttime at this point, so they just want to wear comfortable clothes (and who doesn't want to wear comfortable pants at Thanksgiving, lol).
If only they called back their relatives and wore shoes at such a late hour. The Bouviers and Grampa probably won't be asleep already. It wouldn't be a small gathering Thanksgiving dinner if Bart did not threw Lisa's decoration into the fire!

@LegoFan 4923 I'm sure there's more turkey in the fridge but ended up having turkey sandwiches instead. However, it seems like Bart ate a second time since after he woke up from passing out, those two passersby men showed him where he could get food which was mostly for homeless people where Bart ate and he ate more when he got home.
