Every The Simpsons Intro (1989-2020)

- Seeing how my Fireman Sam and Bob the Builder intros videos are doing successfully, I've decided to do one on every The Simpsons intros (I'm not counting any of the special intros, treehouse of horror intros or ones with different couch gags). After all, The Simpsons is easily my favourite cartoon of all time.

In the earlier ones, Marge shows a lot of expression by her actions when Maggie is put back in the cart, but the newer one, she just turns her head.
I think its cuz it happened so many times by now
But what new one the season 20 2009 one?
She’s probably gotten tired of doing it for over 30 years
@@adamthevirgo9297 probably
Nah the animators didn’t have enough time they needed to save time so marge’s animation got toned down
This intro is one of the most legendary in cartoon history.
But which one????
@@Breezy824 yea which one?
All of them
I can’t pick
@@thereverseguy9392 Nah not the HD one
5:00 The way Marge moves her head is so robotic
3:26 Compared to this
More like a Family guy Character

Really sucks.

i have a soft spot for the original. it just feels so complete and in-character for everyone. like of course lisa makes it home first, she would be the one to most effectively manage her time. bart stealing the bus stop and turning to watch krusty, all the little touches that they cut later.
I just put together that the bus misses the stop because Bart steals the sign because of your comment lmao I feel dumb

I've just realized all these years that Bart, even though with his rebelious nature, still waits for the bell to ring before he leaves his school.
Now that's a cool part of showing his personality.
Mischievous, but still has heart.
Yeah
A detail that few people pay attention to.
I love how the intro gets more chaotic over the years.
Me to but I like the animation and how the characters move and act in the old ones, but I like how the sky looks in the newer ones
And I like how there are more different things that change, like the old one only had the chalk board, now there is random stuff that happens in the first few seconds like the crow flying past, then there is the bill board and the statue head falling on Ralph, then bart landing on Barney in the pile of leaves, then Otto eating the nuclear waste bar, then there is everyone that Bart rides around and moleman coming out of the sewer for some reason, then grandpa waking up in the car from the horn sound, then all of the stuff you see really fast when the camera is moving to their house, then sometimes the TV Falls off the wall at the end, and I’m probably missing some of them
@@DARK_AMBIGUOUS honestly i think they added to much junk to the already good intro
The first one is the most chaotic imo
I personally like season 3!
Everyone turns their head so creepily in the intro of the newer ones, i just cant stand watching marge turn her head everytime anymore
Just shows how much it's degraded huh
Just the Opening alone is enough to get me out of a bad day. I love this show with my all my heart.
Same
Me too
The newer seasons aren't all that great though, but I can tell they're trying.
Same
Yeah it’s great
There’s something about the sound and visuals of the third one, it just sounds like the right version of the opening
I was about to say the 2nd and 3rd calm my 90’s kid soul. So many memories including summers just watching re runs with my best friend/sister. We would quote lines from those episodes about as much as any other kid that grew up watching them.
The season 2 version of the intro, feels a bit out of place when you're used to the season 3-20 version. The instruments sound different, so I like to call the season 2 version the "alternate instrument version".
The third intro is probably my favorite. I was never a fan of the new animation style they used in Season 20 onwards.
Yeah me too, I honestly have always preferred the seasons with the 4:3 aspect ratio, including the ones outside the "Golden Age" of the show.
I love simpsons!!!!!😁😁😁😁😁😁
Cel animation is drawn by hand and literally every game (32 a second) is hand painted. The amount of talent and beauty in the old art style is unsurpassed. I miss cel aniamtion and wish they’d just copy the colors at least. The new stuff looks stiff and like plastic :{
All they done is go hd
@@fridaynightnicktoons6885 I wish they still used cel animation
It’s so smooth when it’s hand drawn
Thank you so much for uploading these. I’d forgotten how good The Simpsons is. As for the intros, whilst Homer’s Dad losing his teeth is hilarious, the second season intro is my favourite, simply because the school orchestra is SO out of tune (2:10), it makes me laugh every time. Thanks again for brightening my day! 👍
2:09
I like the 2nd season the best too.
2:38 That scream was just the best!
That is when I accidentally see R34
AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
The 1989 one is more cartoony and wacky whilst the 2020 one focuses on realistic measures
Just in the animation
Oh yeah, BIG SMOKE
Digital Animation really killed Traditional Animation...
1989 is the best intro since 2020.
@@Thewolfguys.cartoons2000 yo no diría mato sino mejoro
I noticed the majority of the intros haven't changed much.
If it's not really broken, don't fix it.
1st: rough
2nd: polished
3rd: perfected
4th: ruined
The intro is actually very good, the episodes are a shit xd
@@Arremangalarrempujalano Nah the new intro is FAR to robotic looking.
The Simpsons 2009 director is shit
@@snnnaaaaaakeeeee4470 Maybe because of the change to digital animation
@@snnnaaaaaakeeeee4470don't be stupid, the quality of the later intros is far sharper and all Simpsons Episodes are just 100% absolutely fantastic
Something I never noticed; in the first intro, despite being a saxophone player, Lisa appears to be carrying a guitar case?
Maybe the curve goes on wide part
True lol
Probably a gag, as in like Homer couldn't have been bothered to have found the right case for her, at least that's the most sensible head canon to me
boy, i sure hope someone got fired for that blunder.
bruh have any of you heard of Disney +?!
God, season 1-8 was my favourite back when I was 10
Thanks Simpsons for making me happy inside
Why not just say 1-12 🙂
Seasons 9-12 weren't as good
Season 3 is the best in my opinion
2:12 THAT SOLO DO BE ROCKIN
Personally my favorite thing Bart had to write (even though it wasn’t in this compilation) was “Rudolph’s red nose is not alcohol-related.”
I love the ones like that which imply things he did rather than outright stating them
2:38 by far Homer's funniest scream
4:02 will always be my #1 all time favorite Simpsons Couch Gag Theme Song, no matter what! Hands down!
MY FAVORITE
The two Klasky-Csupo intros are iconic and honestly show how television animation has changed over the decades. A lot more movement and hand painted cels. Budget cuts and computers have given us the stiffer but cleaner look.
Still can't believe that now in the intro we have Marge actually running over Homer rather than Homer screaming and running into the garage before he gets run over
4:02 was one of my favourite couch gags, but I have more now!
I wonder if that's how seth Mcfarlane got the idea for the family guy intro
But not me!
How did I know it was going to be that one before I even looked lol? They sure recycled this one alot.
Season 1 intro is best. The carbon rod bounces more times and it's so satisfying
Simpsons Season 1-10
(1989-1999)
That's all that was needed.
I agree
I’m sorry, but I love how the writing on the board changes every time-
That's called a gag
@@SirLiamTheGreat Yes, I’m aware.

@@SirLiamTheGreat no it’s a chalkboard gag
@@mli9635 It's still a gag?
I love the scene of Bart escaping from school in his skateboard
You mean on his skateboard not in
One time he landed on Barney and Barney broke his skateboard in half
@@stephensnell1379 alright nativa english speaker
The third will always be my favorite since I grew up with it, I love how the inanimate carbon rod disappears when Bart hits it and I’m sad they got rid of that, I like how homer runs from the car, but I really love the gag of mole man getting hit and Lenny and Carl falling in the new seasons. The music sounds sparser though, and there are too many new gags that got old really fast. Maybe I’m just nostalgic but it kinda reflects the show, the older seasons focused more on the family and the newer ones focus more on gags and just feel more empty. Or maybe that’s just me idk
I one hundred percent agree with you.
The newer one will never be the same like the old ones
The Simpsons will forever be one of the most dysfunctional families on television. There dysfunction have spanned several decades and the viewers still love it. Homer, Bart and Krusty the clown are my fav characters.
I think my favorites are Sideshow Bob, Sideshow Mel, Mr Burns, and Cecil Terwilliger
Looked this up after watching -"The Simpsons' Missing Bus Stop"- "The Simpsons 'No-No Sheets'". This is actually my first time ever watching the intro in full. I knew about Bart writing on the chalkboard and Lisa dancing out of the room with her sax, and the end with everyone getting home, and of course the famous couch gag; but everything else was new to me. I didn't know they had cute little vignettes of Homer leaving work and Marge getting groceries.
I wish they had kept in Lisa riding along with her huge stack of books at 1:07.
2:06 2:30 I love how fondly Marge looks at Maggie.
It's interesting that the newest one has so much more going on - and yet to me it feels so lifeless and stiff compared to the previous ones.
Rest in peace bus stop guys. Rest in peace.
I actually liked the earliest version of Lisa where she just yeets off her bike as it goes into the garage as she runs into the house. i find it funny
When Marge turns her head to look at Maggie in the fourth one that actually scared me
Goes to show how it degraded huh
thoughts of an almost-20-year-old who has never seen The Simpsons
- Season 3's is definitely my favorite
- The voice that reads the title at the beginning sounds extremely familiar but I cannot place where I've heard it before
- The music's catchy, I can understand why people like it
- the animation in the earlier intros is way more smooth and satisfying than I'd expect '80's/90's animation to be, I love the way Bart swings his skateboard around the light pole and the way Marge turns her head when the groceries/Maggie get put in her cart.
- The biggest crime of the latest intro was getting rid of Homer's scream when Marge hits him with her car, but I do like how they had him crash through the door.
- The latest intro is just way too busy in general, I get the Simpsons has an ensemble cast, but you don't need to put every single character in the intro.
- I understand this is one of many different gags, but them having to chase down their couch was hilarious, especially with Homer wordlessly pointing for it to go back to earth.
- I still don't understand how the cashier was able to scan Maggie without her having a barcode
Most of the episodes actually have a shortened intro to where it's just the Simpsons family arriving home. The music starts off calm, then turns suspenseful when Marge and Maggie get home, then the couch gag comes on.
I have also never watched The Simpsons and I had a few similar thoughts!
There are actually three voices singing the title in the beginning, the composer and two of his friends if I recall correctly.
30 years of contant evolution...and these 3 intro gags are still as good as ever.
I'm so glad the internet exists so we can have this archived
Interesting to see how much it’s changed.
2:55 is the best one 😃
The last intro is just ridiculous
Yeah, I’m on season 6 and seeing the last one makes me sad.
The Simpsons is my favorite show
same bro
I'm happy this video makes the distinction between season 2 and 3 versions. Most people forgot the instrumentals of the season 3 intro song is slightly altered compared to season 2's, and that one was used until HD takeover.
Interesting how the new intro was shown in 4:3 in this video. On Disney+, it's only available in 16:9.
I don't care I been watching the Simpsons for over 25 years and I distinctively remember Lisa saxophone being Gold in the intro back in the early 90's I promise I do. My favorite show I still watch it till this day and I'm 34 yrs young it will never get old
This is the show that just keeps on going and going, from 1989 and new seasons are still coming
I loved every single one of these couch gags
I was raised with the transitive period from the 3rd one to the 4th one, they both have a special place in my heart
I love how the characters try to get hurry to home to see the TV like us on that moment
The way Lisa plays her sax in season 1, i love it
It was along time ago seeing the Simpsons intro, I live in Sweden and channel 6 are the only ones airing the Simpsons.
Thanks for reminding me of the intros
The simpsons theme song is one of the three of my favorite songs
Man this song is a masterpiece. But the simpsons is still one of my favorite tv shows of all time!
It’s amazing how much a style changes over the years
0:25 I remember Bart when he jumped stuck to the skateboard on this path more than the other paths in the recenter versions of the theme song!

My favorite show
Wow! The intro ANIMATION degraded so much in the most recent years. Characters were more detailed, but the frame drops, from 24 fps in the earlier intros, to like 12 and 6 seem like they got lazy.
Its not the fps drops that make it bad, in my opinion, choppy animation animated on twos can look really good, its just they left out seven of the 12 principles of animation.
Squash and stretch, timing and motion, anticipation (on some parts) slow in and out, follow through and overlapping action, exaggeration, and appeal
Everything looks bad from season 20.
3:40 i never understood why the radioactive thing homer tosses disappears after one bounce
1:35 is my favourite season intro as its funny with the homer doh! and scream 1990-91
Homer screaming never gets old
Absolute legend
6:08 what in space
1989-1990 is my favorite intro by them Simpsons for ever
All are amazing
The couch gags are legendary
The way Homer crashes through the door always cracks me up!
This is an absolutely brilliant masterpiece, even if U don't particularly like the show.
4:02 one of the best couch gags
One of my favorite shows since chidhood!
I was born in 1991. Crazy to think this show is older than me.
I was born 1993..its absolutly crazy.. We growed up with thos show
I like the new one. I just really want them to have Bart steal the bus stop sign again
When he scans maggie it shows humans will be scanned bought and sold and people would just be ok with it
The sound design is slightly different in season 2, and the music when they arrive home is completely different as well. I always noticed this but never realized it was specifically a 'season 2' thing.
From begining to 4:29
The BEST Simpsons seasons
I grew up with the forth intro and i love it
I love this show
The thing on the cash register used to say something different instead of a cash amount can’t remember what it was but it was in the earlier ones the money amount is in the newer ones❤🎉
So much nostalgia
Still the best intro
It’s stuck in my head
2:55 I just adore the violins in the start
the subtle things 😁
Does anybody notice that Lisa has a blue sax in the intro but in the episodes it’s yellow
I’m only talking about the old intros cause in the hd intro her sax is yellow
The mouse hole was a nice tip of the hat to earlier animators. Wouldn't be surprised if the new batch did away with that, like they did the pathos and humour.
5:32 Present Day Homer Simpson said, "D'oh!"
I dont know why, but watching this made me cry
Treehouse of Horror is my favourite Chronology of the programme.
The scene where Bart and his skateboard bounces off that fat guy buried inside the leaves making him burp gets me every time.

The later seasons is so chaotic damn
The early 2000s one is the one, man
Love it.
3:25 - Hey, that's my face.
the Simpsons is a legend.
On the one hand, in Season 33 onwards, the opening was shortened to just the title and the "created by" credits, and as the version of the 2010 opening featured here demonstrates, I can understand why, as the couch gags became more and more elaborate and flashy. It felt like, as the actual episodes lost steam, the couch gags became hyper-focused on, so I can understand why the show's current producers decided to axe it for the most part. And it worked! Season 33 is surprisingly GENUINELY good with decent writing (I.E. "Lisa's Belly"), and even weaker episodes which I'm yet to see have their highlights.
On the other hand, when I watch season 33 and beyond, there'll be a part of me missing this beautiful, iconic television opening. This intro will never, EVER get old. EVER. It's probably what people slightly familiar with the show will think of for a reason.
They cut the only good thing left of the simpsons
@@Jasonwithadot Hey, the writing improved! Have you actually seen Season 33?
0:26 The thing Homer is holding is called {cobalt 60} It is so radioactive and dangerous in fact that it says {DROP AND RUN} on the rod itself! The guy eating a sandwich will get radiation sickness. However as soon as Homer Simpson took of his helmet he would have gotten severe radiation sickness! But even worse... It stuck to his back the whole way home! That is a 100% chance of certain death! Homer Simpson should have died during the first episode! At 0:53 Bart was in direct contact with it too! Bart wouldn't die though! He would survive only because he was in contact with it for 2 seconds or less or maybe more.
Notice how on every episode Bart is writing something different.
Marge back then looks beautiful
I grew up with the 3rd intro imo the best
sme. never really even watched the first season tbf. the second season intro looks similar to the 3rd one and well I don't really see the fourth intro as much . I'm not really sure why I Don't see it. tbh I think it's cause now the only ever times I watch the simpsons is when it just comes on TV and they only seem to show the episodes mostly from 92 -08.
