Well you can see the gear that had to be frosen up there, and the bottom gear has these small circles that screams "shoot sigil arrows at me", so i don't know about "bad design"

Honestly think this puzzle is broken because you can shoot sigil arrows at the upper left of the fallen pillar, expand and connect them for a chain reaction, and you can visually see that the reaction will reach the lock. So it SHOULD freeze but doesn’t. That gives people the idea that they’re doing something wrong when in reality they’re shooting in the wrong place entirely. The Devs just lock that option off even though it should work based on all the previous puzzles.
Yes, if there is something in-between the sigil and the wheel then it should not glow. This would tell the player that that's not the way to do it as the freeze explosion chain gets blocked by the metal bars in this case. As you said it still glows which confuses the player.
Thank God man... The ball from stacking the sigil arrows kept lighting that gear up, so it should have allowed me to freeze it but it didn't work. Never thought about the gears underneath because usually the entire structure is sigil proof 🤦🏼♂️

Kept shooting the left corner of the gate until the sigil circle glowed the gear up.. then kept trying to shoot a trail of sigils like another big one toward the bottom of the gate, then another big one on the side of the bridge where the ice is.. I've been dealing with this since yesterday, Saturday 5th of August.. Thanks man. I had to take a good break from playing as I've never had to look up videos to solve puzzles in god of war games before... I may have looked up a couple vids where to find treasures, and maps, and artifacts... But I've always been able to solve the puzzles, no matter the complexity... This one on the other hand, wow..
