As you can tell... I really admire Bolet's interpretations of Liszt. Maybe because his teacher's teacher was Liszt himself? - Видеоклипы
Thank you all so much for your support on my channel recently. I can't thank you all enough
Your channel has gone into my favorites
Thank you for all things you make from classical music
There's a French composer from romantic Era
And his name is Charles Valentine Alkan
He's my favorite
He was chopin's best friend and next door neighbor. He was the only person that liszt was nervous to play in his presence
Can you do a video about C.val.Alkan
Thank you very much🌹
Where is mazeppa ? 😂
Can tell me from which movement/part did you take that recording of 9th? Pls, i cannot find that specific part
@@babygirl4169 its a minute before the end of the first movement.
You know it's funny, with all of Liszt's great accomplishments as a composer, I sometimes forget that he transcribed ALL NINE BEETHOVEN SYMPHONIES FOR SOLO PIANO!
Haha. Thanks
@@eisernerchevalier5388 Yeah, I must be the genius, then
@@eisernerchevalier5388 I hope my channel is also one of your favorites 😍
@@eisernerchevalier5388 Thanks very much!
He did great. He did as well as was possible. Perfect transcription is not possible because an orchestra can play maybe 100 notes at once while a pianist can only play 4 to 10 depending on the situation.
This is the Liszt of Liszt
Liszt of List
The Liszt list, if you will
Agree
Does a Liszt of all Liszts contain itself
@@Franz_Liszt_Korean wow I did not expect to see you here!
It's insane that Liebestraum No. 3 is already considered relatively easy in Liszt's pieces
Songs
@@user-po1uk2of6g sorry I was out of my mind when I was typing but I mean pieces! Edited my comment already. Hope no one finds it confusing
But there are many easier pieces by Liszt. They are just not that popular.
@@benji104 I was gonna say. The leap from libestraum to gnomenreigen is insane. Surely there are pieces inbetween.
Every of my music is easy
Gnomenreign gives me nightmares whenever I play it, but it is totally correct to put it at number 4. Liszt pieces are messed up
Yeah I'm working on it and I wasn't QUITE ready for just how demanding this piece is
Studying it rn and it is an absolute nightmare to play smoothly
@@porple4430 but it's really fun though
3:45 ah yes, the beethoven boogie-woogie
but how is this similar with sonata #32?
From which part or movement is it taken? Can you pls tell
@@babygirl4169 it is the ending of the first movement
I think there is much more in Liszt then normally assumed. He is much more then a salon musician. Some themes have accompanied me for some years now, like the themes from the Dante Symphony. There is depth.
I mean, what do you consider Normally assumed? If someone states otherwise, their opinion Isnt worth all that much.
@@Historia_ I don't know if I understand you correctly. But why should another opinion worth not much if it is just another opinion? I mean, others are entitled to hold their beliefs and they are not wrong just because it is not my belief, right?
@@Gisbertus_Voetius hm, maybe I understood your comment differently
I've found it too recently. The depth and the vision. Oh man my depression sure loves funerailles... Chopin could never
@@Gisbertus_Voetius I think he said that because most of the people who says that "Liszt is just to show off/virtuosic music without any feelings in it" didn't listened more than 3 Liszt pieces. 3 different people told me that, and changed their mind after I showed them some of his transcendental etudes and his "reminiscencias de norma".
3:43 dude... ⛈💀🔥 that is sublime
Can you tell from which part or movement it is from?
@@babygirl4169 Das ist das Ende vom ersten Satz der 9. Sinfonie von Ludwig van Beethoven.
@@babygirl4169 Sounds like the Coda of movement 1
4:05 perfect D minor harmony, chills dude.
Although the transcription is perfect it is from Beethoven's 9. They both did awesome
4:23 this part sounds too cool!
Das ist das Ende vom ersten Satz der 9. Sinfonie von Ludwig van Beethoven.
hey babygirl
Me being proud of myself for playing liebestraum
This video:
You should be, just keep practicing.
me still learning how to play it and struggling but being okay with it since it’s “hard”
sees this video 💀
@@xharuu How long have you been trying to learn it, and what problems are you having with the piece.
@@thenotsookayguy maybe like 4-5 weeks idk? i’m mostly having trouble with the second page because i can’t play the left hand notes together so i have to jump all of them and it sounds horrendous. i’m also having trouble with the first cadenza because idk my pinkys weird but surprisingly i don’t have an issue with the second cadenza?
tbh i think most of my issues just stem from not practicing enough 💀 (and not having hands that can reach 13ths ☹️)
@@xharuu Can you play it now?
The fact that liebestraume is 3 of 11 causes me great pain
Don Juan is absolutely amazing, especially the Okada recording
Oh, Liszt...good times
This the answer to all the people who think la Campanella is one of the most difficult works to play xD. Compare to all that, it's so easy. Also I wonder where the Rhapsodie Espagnole could have been ranked.
Anyway great list.
La Campanella is probably just right above Liebestraum No. 3
I'd say it's harder than gnomenreigen
i'd place it at 5
@@bencallender5061 It's definitely harder than Gnomenreigen.
I'd say it's on the level of Mephisto Waltz 1.
it's definitely tricky.
Great! Very good combo between Mr. Incredible and Liszt.
Love your vids man.
Yes!!!!! Make more please! This is great 😀😀😀
I'm feel proud to have collaborated with him
There was another video similar to this. But it the funny thing is I started playing liebenstraum because of it so I’m now a month into learning the piece.
Me too! At the part after the Cadenza rn
The creativity though!
This is a really accurate list👍
No it isn't
@@surthum yes it is
I actually played la cloche sonne for my lev 4 exam. it's a beautiful piece even though the difficulty is low and yes, you should continue making these. fun fact i'm going to play one of his consolations for my lev 7 exam in the future
Wow, this is gonna send me down a Liszt rabbit hole! Just, Wow!
Damn those mephisto waltz jumps are octaves? 🤯 no wonder even pros miss them.
"See, it's not about the music. It's about sending a message"
Even now I have learned the piano for 8 years, still think Liszt really is a monster XD
People often forget Liszt's most difficult piece Galop in A minor. It is lesser known because it was so technically demanding and lost popularity since nobody could play it
no
It's technically Don Juan level hard but its kinda i mean, musically far easier?
This. That piece is so fucked up, it perfectly belongs onto this list. The jumps in the left hand can give you nightmares.
Edit: In case someone is interested, the only video on RUclips that can help you estimate the difficulty of this piece is the following: ruclips.net/video/ojNYyR20NNE/видео.html
@@qEagleStrikerp that's played by an artificial intelligence. It's too hard to be played by humans!
@@rosariorusso crazy right? There actually do exist a few recordings by humans, but none of them have video
I love this
Awesome playliszt
I can't believe you forgot to include the Spanish Rhapsody.
Nice meme👍
Epik liszt, i love it!
Wwhicked cool! Great post! I WANT TO PLAY IT ALL…Bruhahahahah!!!
Level 15 - Lucrezia Borgia
I wouldn’t rate them in order, I’d just grab a whisky, settle down, and have a good old listen to them on the HiFi.
I’m a percussionist though.
Scary stuff there.
this cut hurts my soul 3:13
Great list. Only I would replace Reminiscenses de Don Juan with either Reminiscenses de lucrezia Borgia or Berlioz symphonie fantastique transcription.
Levels of Alkan next ?
As much as I love Liszt, one can almost hate him for making music that sounds AMAZING, but also extremely difficult to play.😭 He truly is the greatest pianist of all time!
Me when andante sustenuto
Good Liszt list
i like how you didn´t put the octave part on the 9º symphony
unplayable
Mephisto waltz is the greatest solo piano piece ever in my opinion
level 2 💅🏻
Liszt's Lucrezia Borgia fantasy definitely deserves a spot on the list. Probably a better fit for no. 1 than Beethoven/Liszt - Symphony 9?
The symphony transcription is harder than Lucrezia Borgia. And obviously you can't fit every piece in a top 5 List :)
No.2 sounds perfect since arguably harder than Don Juan
2:30 "hehe"
Accurate
Especially when considering WBMP, not so bad. Tannhauser is definitely missing
Tannhauser is amazing. Definitely one of my favorite transcriptions by Liszt. I regret not putting it in 💀
Please do Scriabin, Ravel, Debussy, and for the more unknown Medtner, Alkan and if you dare , Czerny
honestly the only medtner i could find was fairytale but it slaps
Also Moszkovsky
@@alexandrusimo899 Concerti could be at top level. Sonatas could be lower, followed by selected piano pieces. There's a set he wrote for children or beginners (I forgot) that is easier but still not easy
@@alexandrusimo899 Sonata tragica is my personal favourite, never really searched in depth for medtner pieces though
Czerny composed so much that a top 10 list would probably not suffice... Top 100 maybe? 🤣
Can somebody put the names/time stamps for each songs please
well that escalated quickly.
also gonna work on the first one so that i can tell my pianist friends “i’m practicing liszt atm”
Now that's commendable 👏
@@justcallmerachel4197 if you need an easier liszt piece try out some of s160 or the Romance in E minor
joke's on me my teacher just gave me the 3rd consolation in my holiday program
@@justcallmerachel4197 nice
Well, the jump from number 3 to number 4 was a tad big, don't you think?
How about 10 levels of Stravinsky but it becomes more dissonant as it progresses
Have been learning Vallee d'Obermann and Trancendental étude 7, thought I was finally getting somewhere in terms of hard pieces, but no back to earth I come after this video
Where Amogus Reminescences and Paraphrasis over Pol Pot???????
Me when amogus fuge😱😱
This mf referencing the Cambodian genocide
Pol pot
im waiting for 11 levels of prokofiev
Level 10 don juan
The mr. Incredible accurately reflected my face...
I wish i can play something like la sonnambula or Spanish fantasy level instead of being stuck with reminiscences de norma
Next time you might replace s 139 no 8 with s 137 no 8 :))
LORD LISZT
Surprised the mephisto waltz is not higher up haha
Probably put in the Douze grandes etudes. Those are literally near impossible to play
The original version featured "delights" such as fast passages in which the hands had to reach extensions of 10th.s ... Nowadays' version, just let sink this in, is a later "simplification" of them!
@@TenorCantusFirmus same goes for the paganini etudes s 141 :) s 140 just slaps harder, especially no 6 and no 5
there are really unnecessary notes in those though, the later versions are more refined
@@EntelSidious_gamzeylmz eh, Nr 6 is mostly straight up different
@@Historia_ yeah I agree on that
You could with advantage remove the silly faces - it doesn't make much sense to provide the notes and then obscure them so that we can't read and follow the music.
what about liszt etudes d'execution transcendante d'apres paganini s.140 no.4b e major
it is beyond level 11 when sped up
His slow songs are pretty hard due to polyrhythms ngl
I would argue that wilde jagd is harder than mephisto waltz
For me feux follet is the hardest
Bro the arrangement of Beethoven's 9th symphony is far harder yhan feux follet and ARGUABLY liszt's hardest piece ever
Yea, that insane recording by Kissin should be on this list.

Why tf is there a new mr incredible meme video, pls get this out of my face
"11 levels of": Debussy, Prokofiev, Messiaen. Here ya go for future videos.
Dante had nothing on this guy.
Ummm excuse me but… where is feux follets aka the 5th of the transcendental études
i don't get what's going on with Incredible
OMG u played beethoven-liszt!
Chasse-neige?
Lmao
I would put it around Wilde Jagd, and below Norma/Mephisto
I was waiting for Spanish fantasy, guess the recordings aren’t good enough.
Consolation n3 is more dificult than people see
Uncanny
wow great lis(z)t :3
btw 1:45 is literally Scriabin sonata #4 😳
similarities are crazy (2:07 ba dum, tonality, vibe, wtf)
Etude 2 It's hard in a lot of people to love Liszt's dream it's not easy you jumped a lot of levels it's not level 4 it's much higher and part 8 is hard at all I played 8 not the whole Don Zwan I also played but I didn't play 2 I didn't try to sit on it but Looks like this is my next piece
What about Liszt-Paganini Etude No. 4 (1838 Version)?
That would've been great for this list! So many pieces sadly I can't put them all :(
It’s just difficult to play it fast with accuracy,
I’d put Feux Follets higher, the piece is a complete nightmare

Whats te name of the last one?
It's his transcription of the 9th Symphony performed by Katsaris, specifically the end of the 1st movement.
how the fuck is the transition bit of Liebestraume No. III JUST AT NUMBER 3??????
Where is the Sospiro?
Not here
My guess is that it's just above Liesbestraum.
Im play level 10 😱
In my humble and very subjective opinion, I personally think Wild Jagde is a bit harder than Mephisto Waltz, speaking from experience with both pieces, every thing Mephisto waltz has going for it Wild Jagde has it but slightly harder.
Have you played s 137 or s 139?
@@Historia_ I didn't even THINK about trying the s 137 set, way too difficult.
I tried some of the hardest spots of the s 139 and the Mephisto Waltz (which is how I usually test the waters with difficult pieces) and I found the Waltz a bit easier.
@@thegreenpianist7683 well I found the climax of s 139 no 8 to be quite disappointing so I asked :D
@@Historia_ haha I've always thought it's a weird ending as well, but it also fits the character of the piece quite well so I'm fine with it :)
@@thegreenpianist7683 the ending fits quite well imo but I was talking about the Tremolos replacing quite some tensional parts from 137 in the Section where it goes back to the Original tempo.
11 Leval of Shostakovich plese
Also I think Reminiscences de Norma is slightly easier than Mephisto, but ever so slightly. I learned part of Norma, but I cant even read Mephisto
Ain't no way bro. I feel like it's almost at the difficulty level of Don Juan
@@babygirl4169 nah, crazy octaves are a lot easier (for me) than the messed up jumps in mephisto. plus there's a lot of weird voicings in it, and its really hard to keep a good interpretation. norma is just ever so slightly easier, but I do agree, I think both of those pieces are near don juan level
I’m the complete opposite, I can play the leaps and octaves in stuff like mephisto fine, but wouldn’t touch Norma with a ten foot pole, there’s so much complexity
@@loganm2924 totally understand, I just like Norma better as a piece anyways, maybe thats why I find it easier LOL they are both crazy difficult though
@@iturea2504 well then, I agree xD
Who's like me click in to watch the funny icon and laughed 😂
U know this Lizst is hard when constolation 3 is number fucking 2
Disclaimer: i have played his Hungarian rhapsodies and his paganini etudes and constolation 3 is a difficult piece to get fully right
2:12 what the name of this piece?
remiscences de norma if im not mistaken
You right
Remiscences de norma

Where Is "hungarian Rhapsody no.2"?
No
No
But I would at most put it at number 5 if it was included.
You forgot two most difficult pieces: la campanella and Hungarian Rhapsody 2
No
All pieces from 1:50 are harder than both and i dint put them even before just because transcendental n 8
It's nothing compared to more than half of these. Campanella and HR2 are just above Liebestraum. Both took me a few months to learn.
