Update: I may have misspoken in regards to whether or not current U.S. banknotes include features for the visually impaired and blind. Aside from any tactile features that may or may not exist, there is a device called "iBill" which is a talking banknote identifier. However, all U.S. banknotes are the same size, so it may be ideal for the U.S. to also adopt the size differences practiced by other countries which may also help aid the blind & visually impaired in determining the different banknotes.

The 10 Dollar Bill features Alexander Hamilton.
He was one of the chief architects for the financial system in the United States, which is the reason why the country has a universal currency. According to some historians, had the system not been in place certain state governments would have made their own currencies which would make trade and commerce more difficult.

I am from Russia and have been collecting banknotes for 12 years. I can say that it is normal to change the design of banknotes every 5 to a maximum of 12 years. In the United States, design has not changed for about 70 years. Unfortunately, the same can be said about Russia. I hate our banknote designs. Russia has issued 3 commemorative banknotes and 2 new denominations in 25 years !!! I'm glad you made a video about banknotes.

The $20 dollar bill has ridges, and the $100 dollar bill has a strip that feels different because of the security coating. But those aren’t intended for aiding the visually impaired, it’s just coincidence. We should definitely have some sort of visually impaired aid built in. Size, Braille, something
Jeez Louise, that video gave me shivers.

I know that this isn't one of your typical ASMR videos or wasn't even intended, but the way you handled the notes just knocked me out.
I really love your ideas for updating the bills! Here in England, we've been gradually updating to the new notes for about 5 years. They're really excellent, they have braille features, along with artwork, historical quotes and a plethora of security features. They actually held a public vote for who we'd like to see on the bank notes. They gave us categories for each individual bank note eg. politics, sciences, arts etc. and then we voted on the most popular nominations. In the end, we chose Churchill, Jane Austen, Turner and Alan Turing.
“... It’s just presidents and government buildings... well...and then, you know, whatever... hot mess is going on on the back of the one dollar bill.” - I was slain in laughtew, thank you siw.
Regarding the "Non-Political figures" part:
In Hungary, before the Hungarian Forint, we had the so-called "Pengő" (it really devalued between the late 19th and the mid 20th century that's why we have the Forint now) one of which notes featured Endre Ady who was (and still is) one of the most beloved and famous Hungarian poets.

The polymer bank notes are also harder to forge fakes of, doubly so with the UK notes with the complex colouring of some silvery, almost holographic parts as well as the windows.
True. I honestly didn't like the UK pound notes before the "plastic" ones came along
I really like classic dollar look, makes me feel how old this currency really is
maybe, they could just improve classic look with features for blind, couple new faces, polymer material, but without touching main design idea
I miss Finland's marks, that we had in my childhood, and that had pictures of famous persons from history. Euros have just pictures of buildings, that are not in Finland.
From what I know they're buildings that are nowhere since they're imaginary. That makes sense, there wouldn't be enough notes to feature something from every country, without even getting into new countries joining the EU.
I think the Euros bills could be redesigned like the Euro coins, with different designs from different member states, but with the same sizes, colours, and other specifications.

In Mexico, our banknotes is in different sizes and colors. In 2018, the Bank of Mexico released the "G series" inspired by Mexico's history and ecosystems.
This is the Mexican banknotes:
50 pesos - Founding of Tenochtitlán and the axolotl.
100 pesos - Colonial period, temperate forests and the Monarch butterfly in Estado de México and Michoacán.
200 pesos - Mexican Independence movement of 1810, with Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla and José María Morelos y Pavón and the "El Pinacate" Biosphere reserve in Altar, Sonora.
500 pesos - Benito Juárez and the
"El Vizcaíno" Biosphere reserve in La Paz, Baja California Sur.
1,000 pesos - Mexican Revolution of 1910 with Francisco I. Madero, Hermila Galindo and Carmen Serdán. It features the ancient Mayan City of Calakmul in Campeche and the jaguar.

However no tree’s are cut down to print US currency, it’s made of cotton. And polymer notes are basically plastic, which I think might be more impactful on the environment (unsure how they recycle / dispose of old notes so I could be wrong)
The nice thing about the Swedish notes is that none of them have "political figures", the 20kr has of course Astrid lindgren, writer, the 50 has evert Taube who is a composer, the 100 which has Greta garbo who is an actress, the 200 which has Ingmar bergman who is a director, the 500 wich has Birgit Nilsson who is a singer and last but not least the 1000kr Bill which has Dag Hammarskjöld who is a UN generalsecretary and commissioner of the Swedish academy.

I do understand how it feels, there were a lot of currencies here in Europe up till 2002. Here in Belgium we had famous artists like painters and even Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the Saxophone on our notes. When I was a kid I they once redesigned our notes to those, even invented notes with new amounts. Of course, It all disappeared with the Euro, though it was an exciting period, getting all these new bank notes. I hope the USA can experience this too one day.
One place where the US does get creative is on coins. We did have the $1 coins with Sacagawea and all of the Presidents. And various commemorative coins. The 25 cent state series. In the 70's we had the Susan B. Anthony dollar coin. Though, so many people are using cards or purchasing online, maybe they have less of an impact today.

Yes! Thank you for doing this. I agree with you completely. Anyone who has traveled has discovered this for themselves. US currency suffers by comparison to that of many other countries. The technology alone is striking. A hundred years ago, our bills were beautiful, but we have not evolved, let alone led. Your ideas are good. I’d add a Georgia O’Keefe bill, and a Frank Lloyd Wright Bill.
You should have looked into the american currency just like the you did with the other countries, their is more to it than just what you just see with a quick glance. I guess we should also make ours more colorful but i mean the paper bill is dying and has been for awhile. I've been collecting banknotes for 8 years... believe me, everyone who gets into banknotes will always end up resenting America's banknote design, this isn't an uncommon opinion
America's banknotes are pretty bad, they have limited security features, they're not biodegradable, they rip, they tear, they're all the same size so blind people can't tell them apart (almost every other country has differently sized denominatons)-- they don't represent our culture well (just a bunch of old white men and historical buildings), and they're not even visually appealing
