During the 1991 CT hearings, some of the brothas' who were 30 percenters pointed out that Clarence Thomas didn't so much dislike women - the assertion of white women who opposed his nomination - as he disliked black women. Both Republicans and Democrats accused them of saying something racist. Conservatives had the lowest approval rating when it came to interracial relationships. Liberals, who had contended that you couldn't be racist if you dated someone black (said no black person ever), had always asserted that the conservatives were racists. Ginni Thomas was pretty much a neoconservative.
Years after the hearing, black America continued to assert that the hearing had to do with race while white women asserted it had to do with sex. Guess who got to write the history? Given that today most black people believe the hearing had to do with sex, it certainly wasn't black people!

Secondly, radical/revolutionary members of the black community during the CRM saw King and most other civil rights activists as way too conciliatory with white America because he preached a message of turning the other cheek (Dr. King did not turn a bunch of domestics and sharecroppers into Hindus!) and loving one's enemines.
Thirdly, white America has whitewashed the legacy of Dr. King into the image of the submissive black man who loved white people and asserted their moral superiority because they thought the only thing he ever said during the CRM was one line of one speech.
Strangely enough during the Clarence Thomas hearings in 1991, black people who opposed his nomination were labeled "Uncle Toms" or, in my case, "Aunt Tomasinas" by the majority of the black community who endorsed his nomination. Let that sink in.

Josiah Henson took slaves that included members of his own family and without any slave owners or his master accompanying him, through "free states" where they could have gained emancipation, and delivered them to his master's family in a slave state. All because, as an "Uncle Tom," he had promised his master that he would delivery those in his charge back into slavery. That a "promise is a promise" and a Yassa Masta" is a "Yassa Masta." His master later sold him and his family down river. Josiah did accomplish things later in life, but would never makeup for his betrayal.

I have no problem with him marrying whomever or whatever race. That's his business. The problem I have is that he is like Uncle T#m and forgetting he's black. Talking about the black family was better off under Jim Crowe, when black dads,mothers, etc. had to stand around and watch their loved ones slaughtered in front of them.
