Your home is supposed to be your sanctuary. Anyone who introduces strife or disharmony via talk about politics, religion, or otherwise, should get checked. If they don't like the rules you put in place to maintain said harmony, you tell them to kick rocks. Plain and simple 🤷🏾♀️
If the man of the house can't protect his family by establishing the boundaries for visitors and maintaining the peace of his family's home, that's a major problem.
I’ve been with my husband for 34 years and married 30. He has a very outspoken family so they could be intimidating if you let them out talk you. I learned early on that if I didn’t stand firm and speak my mind they would always be that way and try to get me to comply. Some things have to be said…We would not be visiting our family if they didn’t respect us enough to not talk politics.
But if we did visit and they chose to talk politics…we would all be talking politics!!!

If you’re with a white woman, you HAVE TO KNOW HER ENTIRE FAMILY IS NOT GOING TO ALL BE LIKE HER. You have to assume that some people in her family are going to have views you don’t align with, etc. You have to know that. As long as she’s not like that, just keep it moving and live life. If you’re black and dating White, Indian, certain Asians, you’re going to deal with this. If she’s a Latina, it depends but same thing. We are the most hated race thanks to colonialism and brainwashing. Every race looks down on us and colorism exists within Asian, Indian, and Hispanic communities. Asians look down on darker skinned Asians from Taiwan, Philippines, Vietnam. Indians look down on darker skinned Indians. (A brown skin Indian girl I dated told me that.) Dominicans will look you straight in the face and not acknowledge their African ancestry. Stand strong. This is the messed up world we live in.
Asian cultures have always hated dark skin, even well before colonialism.
See that is why I'm scared to get in a relationship like that and find out I don't have a ally in my house hold 😢

I was wondering as to whose house this was all occurring at, but he answered that. Since it was at the in laws house, I can somewhat understand his hesitancy to speak up. So the best thing he could do is not go, and let his wife explain his absence at future events.

I think the dude did the right thing by staying quiet and keeping his cool. Some battles are not worth fighting and they will try to bait you into a nasty argument so they can call you and tell you what they really think of you. You control YOU, that way YOU win. Period!!!
