  • In this video I go through the Geometry Regents June 2023, part 1, questions 1-24. I cover many of the topics from high school geometry such as:
    similar triangles, parallel lines and transversals, triangle proofs, exterior angles theorem, using trig to find a missing side, using trig to find a missing angle, cross sections, alternate interior angles, transformations in the coordinate plane, inscribed angles, rigid motions.
    Here is a link to the practice exam:
    www.nysedregents.org/geometry...
    If you have any specific topics you want me to cover, let me know in the COMMENT section. Thanks for watching!

      You win some, lose some. I am happy to hear that you are retaking the test in August. It builds a lot of character to fail, try again, and succeed. Learning math is more about the journey than a single test. Keep practicing each day, and you will get better!

    For #19, 47:48 I'm a little confused. Why does the Y intercept have to be changed because of the scale factor and center? What is the relationship and reason the y intercept changes, why can't it stay the same? How does the scale factor and center influence it to change?

    • @vinteachesmath
      @vinteachesmath  11 месяцев назад +2

      Dilated lines are parallel, so the slope is the same for the new line. If we didn't change the y int, the image would be the same line that you started with.
      Technically, every point on the line is being dilated. But I choose to focus on thr y int because then it is easy to use y = mx + b to get the equation of the new line.

    • @vinteachesmath
      @vinteachesmath  11 месяцев назад +1

      I am copying and pasting something I wrote to someone else the other day:
      Know all your definitions, formulas and theorems: www.nysmathregentsprep.com/uploads/6/2/3/2/62326735/v4_-_geometry_[common_core]_regents_review_sheet_-_facts_you_must_know_cold.pdf
      Geometry is very heavy on definition, formulas and theorems. You have a decent amount of time from now until August. I recommend you do a practice Regents (www.jmap.org/JMAP_REGENTS_EXAMS.htm), and see which questions you get wrong. If you are stuck on a specific topic, type the name of that topic + jmap in a google search. Do a worksheet covering just that topic. Then keep repeating that until test day!
      I like that you are taking this test even though you "don't need to". There is a gap between the minimum requirement to exit high school and the minimum requirement to do well in college! You taking on this challenge will make you ready for the next level! With a score of 60, you were right there!

    • @jprodigyyy
      @jprodigyyy 11 месяцев назад +1

      @ryzedrxp5110 If you passed the Geometry Course, students that scored between a 50-64 can request for a waiver. That waiver (WG) will show on your transcript and it will count as passing. Which will meet the requirement for the diploma you want to go for (regular or advanced). You can retake this exam if you want to.

      Technically, a triangle has 3 vertices, so you are correct. But when we talk about an isosceles triangle, the vertex is the other angle that does not match the two congruent angles. I would take the test with no notes or distractions and time yourself. Then go through the answer key and see which ones you got wrong; you can also circle the ones that you weren't too sure about. Then I would watch the video and jump to the questions you got wrong or didn't understand.
      If you are getting the same type of question wrong - let's say solving log equations - then do a focused practice session on that single topic until you are strong
