I guess no one will care but seeing your reactions helps me listen to songs again that I must have heard hundreds of times and in most cases enjoy them again. And give those that I don't like so much a new chance.
That was a very interesting personal note about the music you were brought up on and your view of music with lyrics at that time and how all this has opened up a new world of music you appreciate now. Thanks for sharing that, it gives us insight into your background to understand you better, and your open honesty is very cool!
I always loved this song and thought it would have deserved a place of the album. After listening to the demo version though, I have to say they could have made a perfect, Home-like ballad out of this one.
You should listen to the demos (except fof Goodbye because there is only 4 seconds of audio and then the rest is silence because whoever had them, lost probably the recording of the song), you can easily find them on RUclips because the demo is one of the few that's better than the one that got actually release for the album.
Very strange, dark chords in the verses. Almost reminds me of Burial. I like that ascending lead synth line in the pre-chorus. The keyboards in the chorus feel like straight-up techno. I see that Dave wrote this with Kurt Uenala. I imagine Kurt's playing a big role in a lot of this. This was one of the first things I asked you when I discovered your channel. What were you listening to prior to this? And you said then as you say now, "dance, trance, dubstep, instrumental." Adding that you had been close-minded with regard to other styles of music. This is so fascinating to me, for I find you to be perhaps the most open-minded person I have encountered, particularly with regard to music. It's really an amazing transformation. Do you still actively listen to dance/trance/dubstep/instrumental music? If so, what are some of your favorite songs and/or artists from those genres that have made it on to your current playlists?
I was expecting this reaction Seth, one of my favorites on the album along with the other one that follows, the next song has an instrumental that I love, very arpeggiated and mechanical, and it feels dark, although I don't know if it's one you like. Without a doubt Delta Machine is one of my favorite albums. I would say that you also liked most of Delta's songs based on the reactions I saw, I think there were few that you considered weak. Another thing, if you don't really like the effects on Dave's voice, then the next album is going to disappoint you a lot, in fact it sounds very dull thanks to that, you'll understand.
Now that you are all in to DM WORLD, try to analize this song and the first single I just can get enough,,, you ll see the difrence between 40 years of evolution, and the pupouse to they rs music, the change from comercial songs to artistic songs, like i said thats why i think DM it s a way of life, they never do the same style Albums every álbum is a great change of stylus and for me it is an evolution into the artistic World of music they get more "Adult", making music to deserve to listen to it, not "For the masses",,, welcome to my World, dear Shep,,,
Maybe, but for me, i m 53 years old and dm fan since 1982, Spirit, as lirics and society problems, is one of the best album is very deep and thruly sang, (sometimes thruth dislike to the govermrnts),,,
Soon you be into Spirit album,, when that's happend, take a deep breath and relax, it s a fully political expirience, you may pay atención to the lirics of each song, thruth hearts, but this is the real World that we live in,,, SPIRIT IS LIKE NOSTRADAMUS PROFECY,,,, so open your mind and lose your self into this master class cruel reality,,,
Each song of this álbum (spirit) make me cry,, blody tears in my 53 years old eyes,,, SPIRIT must be introduce to the united nacions program, so maybe that how the politicians will be able to govern us on the right way
Not literally, cause in there Martin's voice was sampled and played like a tracks on mellotron. Don't know why exactly they did that, to sound more "electric" maybe?
Unfortunately I’m in the minority. I’ve never really liked this song. I don’t know why, but it’s just not appealing to my ear. The next b-side I love though.
It's a BRILLIANT song ruined by rubbish arrangement and production. Want the real essence and power of this track? Check out the demo which is better than Demo Mode's album version: ruclips.net/video/UhFAPNXfdy4/видео.html
Checked it out. Melodically its not bad, but ultimately will rather fit Coldplay, than a Depeche Mode. Seriously. Completely different love ballad mood.
I do like the extra tracks more than the album, that shows how poor the album is but with this track go listen to the demo, it`s so much better. I dam the bloody ben hillier producer, he made things sound shite from a good demo.

I love all the of bonus from delta
I only don't like Always
me too, little gems from a truly shite album. The demo`s were better
Awesome song,music and lyrics.
Great to hear your past storyes!
Another great reaction, brother! Besides "Alone," I believe this, and the next two songs on the B-side are the best on the album.

You should hear Dave's demo version of this song. It's really good.
That's his song
I just listened to the demo version. It's awesome! Thanks
Yesssss!!!!
All that's mine - this bonus song is really good! Has some melody vibe from old Depeche Mode.
I don't know why it's not on the album. It's better than some songs in the final cut.

One more Bonus Track from Delta Machine and then will start Spirit, first Song Going backwards is the best
Two actually
I would only skip "Always"
ohh, I like scum and eternal more.
@@easytigeruk123456789 Cover me
There's two, one B-Side and one actually an extra song

I totally agree! Too many DM fans are stuck in the 80's, and they probably are in a lot of their music too! lol Time to move on Gen X !
SOFAD is nuch much more sophisticated and "mature" than Delta and Spirit
Maybe, but for me, i m 53 years old and dm fan since 1982, Spirit, as lirics and society problems, is one of the best album is very deep and thruly sang, (sometimes thruth dislike to the govermrnts),,,
Please do studio sessons before you do next album. They fit here

i think when there are background vocals it‘s always martin, isn‘t it??

@@crisgriffin3042 yeah well, but it‘s still martin 😁

I’m with you.
It is interesting hearing you speak on how you disliked songs with lyrics when now you cant stand DM's instrumentals, lol

The Demo. Oh gosh it's so much more beautiful than this travesty.

DEPECHE MODE SO CRUEL
