Mate, I never thought it would work that well. And Splitsie had a capable flyer all along. That was one hell of a ride, and when it snapped and came right at your head!!! Had to replay it 3 times!
I was kind of expecting the whole contraption to go all vertical asymptote and explode almost immediately, so yeah, I'd call it an unqualified success.
That worked way better than I could ever dream it would! Perfect example of the whip effect, it's probably the scale and the long stiff sections that made it go so slow as 280m/s. What I mean by slow is that it should have cracked the sound barrier but TFE "just" managed about 1008 km/h, not the 343m/s or 1234km/h for the Earth based sound barrier at 20°C / 68°F. The tail whip to the face was such a great example of the dangers of heavy articulated things in motion, way to take one for the team TFE! Capac's ship looks great, I just hope that he adds enough lift to all those storage containers, even with 9 it's a lot of cargo that has to break out of the gravity. That canyon jump was oh so perfect, with the one in a million hit to the trade station, was the epic cherry on top! So great that you caught the self ejection of the vehicle from it's wedged connection, that probably saved a lot of headache but also undone an interesting conundrum that needed solving. I wonder if the small flyer could have given enough wiggle while connected to undo the wedging, but we'll probably never know now.
this has to be one of the best Space Engineers episodes I've seen. Period. Flawless execution with the "chain" followed up by hilarity with driving around with the "chain" to end with TFE getting whiplashed. Bet Capac wishes he was down on the planet for that. Guess I should've waited before posting the comment....How did you manage to wedge the Van Go in the trade station???
Omg, this was just amazing! It worked and so smoothly and easily, I was gobsmacked! Honestly I was expecting all kinds of blammo and Clang! When you had it laid out behind you, it looked like a huge, newly shed snake skin and it moved like a sidewinder, it was glorious... And so was TFE's death! This had me laughing so much, a true tonic for the soul, thank you, all three of you ❤
The resources spent building the tail? Totally worth it. The arrival at the trade tower was the chef's kiss on the episode. Plus, the shenanigans gave Capac time to work on building the lift vehicle.
having finally caught up from the last 2 weeks yesterday at 1.5 times speed its good to know that i can keep sinking hours in watching you miss obvious things only to point them out in editing 10/10 glad i subbed
He parked the ship twice without any problems, found air leak, and solved some issue with great troubleshooting...? Is that real Capac? After so many deaths and resurrection, it seems Brand New Capac from the past Escape Unlikely series (EFM #2) has been revived. 🤣
Pulling that chain up put a big grin on my face, that was epic! Also @27:40 "put friction the last wheel to keep tension", I believe that was the solution with the long train in the scrapyard series.
now that is the best docking i have seen in a while. Are you really sure it is Capac who still deserves "danger parking" nickname at this point? ;P I bet you it may even be airtight :P
So many great moments in this episode! I don't think you could have scripted TFE getting smacked by the end of the newly detached end of the chain better than it played out AND that jump at the end connecting with the trade station?! Just hilarious. Great work :)
That working even a little is insane! A chain of blocks that could break with a single round from a rifle or a light tap on the ground pulling a little rover up over a kilometer in SE of all things, truly insane. I love it
Great episode! Really can't believe the chain worked and I love that you had an easier option, but chose to see if making the gigantic chain would work.
TONIGHT ON ASSERT GEAR: TFE sets a new land speed record on the salt flat, Splitsie wedges his mobile fortress into an upper floor of a tower, and Capac eats a sandwich.
The timing of the "Yep, I knew I had this flyer the whole time," was so perfect. It popped up just as I was like, "oh yeah, that thing..... Wait a minute!"
That was _amazing_ ! While TFE was building the landing gear on top of the Van Go! and watching you fly with The Hermes, I was half expecting him to say "Wait a minute!" 😀 "You mean you could have flown that rover out of the chasm at any time?" "No! Not _any_ time! Only when it was _funny_ !"
You definitely made the argument for why Keen doesn't really need to add some rope kind of thingy! Klang is perfectly happy with hinges and wheels for scrape along! 😇😉😁
This is why I love your content Splits, U could've just built a lift ship and use it to take out tfe, but u chose the more fun, more complex and more entertaining way to do it, by which u also tried how good chains work in SE. You're the best game content creator I know of, Keep up the good work!
Splitsie, I'm not surprised that you built this. I'm just surprised that it's working so amazingly well. This thing is outperforming every other hinge chain you have ever built ROFL
If it's stupid but it works, then it's not really stupid... in this case, it's GLORIOUS. I thoroughly enjoy every episode of AA, and just your SE content in general. It's rare for me to watch series in their entirety these days, but this one has me hooked. I look forward to MORE SHENANIGANS in the name of acquisitions.
I mean, you guys and your shenannigans are utterly hilarious and are part of why I love watching you, Capac and TFE get up to stuff in SE, but the 44 minute mark... when you hit the trade tower... I about fell out of my chair laughing. That right there is some serious skillz! lol. Love the series so far, and am still watching along at a couple episodes a day. Amazing work, and I hope to be joining in some SE shenannigans myself soon... once I finish up my Valheim series at least.
@@Splitsie It was truly amazing! And I kept giggling every time I saw the Van Go even into the next epiosde. Finally finished Episode 100 as well today. Really looking forward to "Season 2"
It's a shame that the chain of hinges and wheels couldn't have been used to build the Survival Maybe siege engine - trying to control it would have been pretty terrifying, (And I'd feel real sorry for whoever it's being aimed at) but even better would have been getting it there - the Coyote/Roadrunner would not have had fun.
Amazing episode. That was a lot of fun to watch. Also, I can only imagine what Caporc is going to bring down. Then watching him realize that his craft isn't going to be enough 😅
The realization that you could have just lifted Tiffany out... Priceless... 😆 Hadn't thought of it either. Also the chain made for interesting content, sooo ... worth it! ^^
Too bad it yanked itself out, I was half-expecting a piston-chain-thingy with a mag plate coming over from the mining rig to pull the rover from the station... ^^
The van went so hard today. This was well and truly the best Space Engineers thing I've seen. With todays Episode, AA has ursurped the throne of best Splitsie series from Survival Unlikely. The shenanigans are strong in this one.
Ok, now all we need is Splitie to make the chain out of conveyor junctions and conveyored hinges with drills in between the hover wheels. Then he can stripe mine the salt flats with a drill tail. Granted, that would be too much weight, but a shorter chain could be fun.
This was amazing, on so many levels. It's insane to me that you still, after thousands of hours, still find ways to surprise yourself. I never would have guessed that this would have worked, worked so well, and been such a hoot to watch. Bravo split. I also loved the troll bit. Job well done. PS, Who is the other guy and what have you done with Capac?
Selecting every hinge on the cable and just nudging their limits to 89 and then 90 would've probably been easier, albeit possibly explosive. And turning them on and off and all that. The winch really feels like one of the hijinks they'd put in that multiplayer overhaul testing trailer. Though I'm surprised it went so smoothly with the end missing any wheels, and a little T-frame on the end would solve the minor roll issue. Y'know, for 'when you do this again'. I'm impressed how stable the winch is on its side since the angles involved do mean it does just stay flat and keep the armor mostly off the ground. You can't park here. -TRADE administrators
Hi am currently working on caching up on the episodes that was made before i started watching the series, i've so far been able to get to episode 48 (started watching on 56 according to youtube) and i just want to thank all 3 of you and everyone else who have helped make the now 97+ amazing hours of content, also a suggestion for episode 100 or as a bonus episode maybe making a compilation of all the bloopers there has been so far if you still have them that is, and adding it to the end of episode 100 or after maybe a thank you if you go with the bonus episode, just a random thought XD
i might have gone with a few sm grid pistons and landing gear to spider walk my way back up the walls. but that chain was still interesting.. a lot of work but interesting.
Out of the chasm and onto a frying pan/trade station. Maybe use the flier to push it off the ledge? Or another massive chain attached to the Ghast and pull it back to the asteroid.
Turn the 1.6 km tail into a launcher whip to get the VG into space similar to how you and Shadow launched the RV in RVs at War. I was just re watching an episode of Survival ... Unlikley (Season 3 Episode 28) and came up with an idea. We need weapons, or ammo, that will disable a block, like a turret, but not damage it any further once the block is disabled. To balance maybe the weapon would take twice as many bullets as a regular weapon would to disable to the same point.
Yeah, I've been thinking about it and it would be great if you just connected two of the research bases together lengthways, then made it a bug atmospheric ship to use as a container ship for hauling the gold, and in the future when you salvage a few aircraft or pirate a big parallax freighter or something, then you could take it to space. Idk I'm just spit balling, never really got into space engineers but I love your multiplayer stuff so good luck with it :D

I was waiting for it to fling it over the Van Go when it came out of the hole.
Does this officially make you "Splitsie's whipping boy"?
And here's to many more to come!!!!!!
Capac being left alone in space to go insane while Splitsie and TFE build a Clang Crane is hilarious.
He's got space dementia... (Still the most nonsensical fake syndrome in movie history btw) :D
44:01 "Yeah if we can just hit the trade tower" - Out of Context Splitsie

Capac slowly having a break down is glorious!
"O2 Generators. We probably don't need those."
You don't need them ... unless you're planning to refill the tanks before taking off.
They have enough hydrogen stored up in the Skywall, and generators. I'm sure the tanks will be enough on the ship and nothing bad will happen.
@KaizoeAzurum Yes, I'm sure that if you don't plan for emergencies, nothing bad will happen ...

snippets from this video should be featured on the SE under the #ingenuity section. Man what a fun way to take him out
From this day forward. We shall call the tow out....."The Tape Worm Maneuver".
Another great episode with OTT engineering for the win. Suppose if it happens again, you could always rebuild the truck catapult
Perfection. The aim, the air. Can't math it out brain wants to explode. And the chain was just so much excitement.
