If anyone disregards the lagging span, which is one of the most valuable tools, I am ver weary of the overall hit rate and efficacy. It legitimately saves me from so many losing trades. That’s what it is there for.
that's where the doubled settings come on - i dont need the LS with 2x settings b/c the trades are already fewer and slower. but if i was using default settings then yes id need LS.
Great class Josh. Thanks 🙏🏼 Definitely sparked my interest & going to start studying the cloud.
awesome dog, Cloud is life
Very good video

Thanks for the straight forwardness and making it clear to understand keep up the videos. Starting to get the hang of it
awesome Leggo, great to hear
Inspiring and timely. Glad to see a new cloud vid from the guy who introduced me to it.
thx mr mre #CloudGang
Thanks!
thx Jasio!
this is pure gold, thank you for breaking down the terminology and setups. happy that I found this channel to help me identify trends and good entries/exits.

thanks, Josh.
great info!

Love this. Knew I recognised chaostrader in there before you mentioned him. I focus on using the 4H/1D cloud and searching for breakouts and first pullbacks. One of the things I love about ichimoku, especially on SPY/QQQ, is that *so often* you get a pullback that drags the chikou aaaaaaaall the way down to the very bottom of SSB, meaning price is below the cloud, but it's not *officially* a breakdown. It's essentially "peak fear". And then it rips upwards again to F the bears lol.
But the 1D+ Kumo's ability to simply act as a trend filter, to simply say "I am mostly interested only in longs while above" and vice versa when below, is really its biggest strength IMO.
there are sooooo many nuanced strategies in the cloud system like you mentioned
and being the best trend filter in the game aint too shabby either :)
Great class Josh. I've been using your Ichimoku settings for years. No complaints here.
excellent - cloudgang unite
Thanks Josh 🙏🏼

Thank you, well looks like I am going to have to figure this “cloud stuff” out!
you got it spare
Josh, you are a god. Thanks, man

Josh what a good indicator to use the tk like an oscillator?
For stops on the kinjun/cloud/fractals are you a fan of the stop being trigger by a wick or a close below the leve?
in the indicator section on TV, type in "TKD" - tenkan/kijun distance
for stops, i prefer the close to trigger the stop, not the wick
Hey Josh - great video. In the “bearish example” section (~31m) it appears there are a few locations where you would get into the trade and close it above the price you entered (I.e. a loss) based on the rules (hard to tell on my small screen). Do you take into account some profit taking at extremes or when price starts to close back above the tenkan?
ya you can use those williams fractals as a trailing stop loss
the entry and exits during the 2018 period using only the daily cloud are mostly flat or not unprofitable
Very good stuff as always, Josh. Just rewatching this one and wanted to clarify - do you use mental stops or hard stops for trailing SL strategies using bearish Williams fractals?
the fractals at as trailing SL - so although i dont always have the SL on the book, i def close if we breach them
50 minutes!!!!
I knew some extra vid time was coming when I saw the title.
:)
at 27.36 we have the described situation with MVIS (Microvision), it just entered the daily cloud. Is that an example for a long edge to edge trade? Would the upper edge then be the "magnetic" flat 5$ or recent lower 3.60$? The signal to get out again is when falling out of the cloud or breaking through the Tenkan or Kijun?
yes, i would look to the flat Cloud at 3.60 over the higher level, with a stop loss at the bottom of the cloud or below the Kijun (your choice)
Hey question, on TV there are now 5 settings for the cloud: "Conversion Line Periods", "Base Line Periods", "Leading Span Periods", "Lagging Span Periods", "Leading Shift Periods".
What would be the settings for these new settings? 20,60,30,120,30?
hmmm i still only see 4 settings on my version, but im assuming your settings would be correct on the 30/30.
PS I think of the tenkan/kijun and crosses thereof slightly differently; i think of them as being a cat's cradle above or below i.e double the support or resistance vs normal circumstances, as opposed to looking at them in the same manner as, say, a 50/200 cross.
ya that's also valid - love the cloud, so much variety!
Very good explanation of what can be a somewhat confusing concept to understand, but explained simply with clear examples.
Ive got 1 question tho..
When it comes to incorporating Fractals with Ichimoku, do you AWAYS use it as a signal for your SL/re-entry?
Cuz during the explanations there's times when you consider the negative fractal being breached and label it "SL hit" and times where you don't, in which you've "remain flat until: kijun bounce or fractal breach on higher end".
If not, I'm assuming that you factor in the overall trend, kumo and the TK crosses?
at 23:09, labelled "remain flat until either"
i wouldnt say always, but most of the time, yes
Cool story bro!
lol
Have you considered also to study, test and incorporate the other parts of Ichimoku like the Wave, Price and Time Theory ?
ive never really looked at the other related analysis for ichi but i should. im not a big fan of wave theory though, too subjective for me.
at 30:46. Although the cloud tell you when to get out, unfortunately at this time BTC came down from 70k to 45k. You use the William to get out earlier? (Ah, I think the answer is at 42:55)
yes the williams fractals act as a trailing stop loss
Josh ❤s Ichimoku Cloud!!!!
it's true
@@carpenoctom I know man. Your videos are how I learned too. Tks for that
Great vid Josh! Gonna attack someone for using non-josh settings 😄
thx mike and o no
Isnt that setup using the Williamsfractals played by break out traders who are trapped in false breakouts/downs?
can be used for many purposes but works great as a trailing SL and entry system
50 minute video about the cloud...…the best🤌
thx Matt
Hmm, if you replay to 12.October of this year, so month ago actually, and let it play, with your settings you wouldn't enter the trade because the cloud is not bullish and the price went way up on 23rd where the cloud started to get bullish, with default settings you would have catched that ride on time, check it if you don't believe me, if I'm missing something please let me know.
from here on www.tradingview.com/x/9D9OF7Bg/
20/60/120/30 can be worse at times and better at times, ideally, on balance it's dialed in for entries/exits to reduce noise. if you find the default settings better for you than definitely use those settings. in the oct 12th example, i was focused on being above the cloud over having all signals flip bullish. you can also add to size based on conviction of the trend entry. so if you've got a bullish kumo breakout, trade opens, bullish kumo twist, add to position.
overall, use whichever settings work best for you, the 20/60/120/30 settings have worked better for me over default settings.
Was reading one book about Ichimoku, supposedly best on the subject, author said that 24hrs market don't matter, changing the settings rather, and that it even makes things worse, I was curious to seek other opinions on that and that's how I found your channel, after watching this video and having the new settings I went to test it, first thing was that situation from month ago, I didn't look for more examples, but I get you and I appreciate your reply. @@carpenoctom
Is there a reliable Ichimoku screener, whether free or paid, that anyone can recommend? Which one would be the best for US Stocks and ETFs?
tradingview has a usable screener
Do you know any other ones @@carpenoctom , or something which could work in junction with IBKR?
alright ledges pay attention

"tease a little bit with a wicky wick", hahaaa. ur awesome, man. i use Ichi often on lower time frames when there is no obvious level of support or resistance n to look for divergence (ie ranging px action but Ichi lines trending up or down...the system itself is no edge). seems like ChaosTrader has become PyramidSchemeTrader lately, but god bless him. so many tokens above or in cloud w bullish TK cross on the daily, but r still in a downtrending market structure on the weekly. there r also many that r not...even w the most bullish cloud setup, altcoins suffer when the Corn is weak - so why use it on them at that point? BTC move in Q1 on the daily: even when longed at 1st candle in cloud after bullish TK cross (Jan 11), how many can diamond hand it from +40% to just +10% in profit (Mar 10)? there was also no risk-off signal from it. or is there one w the Span way above px + C-Clamp? from the market structure there was. i mean what trader gives 30% back? maybe knowing when to take profit n compound later on could be another additional segment to this. hey, "E2E move" (weekly) narrative deffo getting stronger on CT rn...narratives, correlation (w liquidity flows to risk assets), mean reversion off extreme deviations, bots - hard to beat. seems to me the main game already is to punt shitcoins w the strongest narratives when the Corn is strong anyway (one almost could do it blindly, w no system or indicators involved). also w the growth of the industry, the Corn might start to move more like gold n Et Hirium more like the Nasdaq (while "hodlers" n "OGs" still try to play the same ole game), but i stop here b4 i digress even further n rob more time from anyone reading this.
- ichi for divs is great
- that's unfortunate re:ChaosTrader
- agreed, lots of E2Es in the works
- alts do best after btc strength typically i think
- i have seen the argument that btc = spx, eth = ndx so that would make sense
@@carpenoctom thx for replying, Josh-san
This is nonsense in terms of how you describe it and also the settings total garbage on Ichi system. Blasphemy ..delete this while u can save face.. smh
lol
Thanks!
