The amount of patience it takes to do one set of those doors is amazing, but to do three set? That’s truly astounding. Just the sawing between the windshield pillar and the door is enough to make most of I give up I would bet. Thank you for sharing!
Excellent custom modifications . These are fantastic Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing models , l've often wondered what a C2 Corvette Stingray woukd look like with gull wing doors . Great work 👏 👍 👌
Exceptional work to professional-level standards. Thanks for sharing this because I have not even considered attempting such a feat. The fact that you use hand tools to achieve these results makes it all that more appealling because that is my preferred method. Thanks for sharing this video and all the specific details / tools needed to execute the project. That it is a Gullwing door rather than a front-hinged door makes the project all that more intriguing. Great job!!!
i love your content! you should try opening the box carefully and putting the cars back in the package with a dot of glue, i think it would sick with the stanced cars.
Should have used a jewler's saw with a spiral toothed blade as it cuts in any direction and makes the tight corners much easier to cut without having to enlarge the radius. A jeweler's saw also allows for the use of much narrower blades and will give you a narrower gap and better look with a tighter fit and smaller gaps. You can also use a soldering iron to attatch the wires and fill in the holes and slots then sand or file down the solder for a smooth finnish
The trouble with spiral blades is that each stroke isn't cutting in "any" direction, it is cutting in "all" directions. The finest spiral blade will have more kerf than any standard blade, because the kerf is always about 2.5x the tooth height.
i grew up on majorette, the doors and hoods usually already opened, superior suspension, but gullwings would have been a big ask, and usually the trunks weren't openable. if anyone can find them, they'd be great to add the rest of the features to.
Huge improvements on the basic model, similar opening features as the 1/36 sized 1980s Corgi model too. I say this to a lot of people's custom videos by suggesting an additional feature - if you want to add a little weight to make your cars have that "car culture" feel, where you cant swap a plastic base for metal, add something called "liquid gravity" (say approximately 25g).
Thank you man, really appreciate your tip! I have thought sometimes about that, didn't know that this exist. I actually created that hw premium feel, by installing some weight on the downside of the display box. But thats not exactly the same.
Hi , Great modeling done many things model building/ scratch building, alloy cars ,military etc .Great patience on those doors. What type of aftermarket wheels rims ,do you use .Keep up the great work .thanks
Thank you very much! I usually just 3d print all rims and tires for myself. You can check out ebay and aliexpress on 1 64 wheels, there are quite a few out there
@@williamcordier1201 They are now fairly cheap, you can get resin printers under 150€, double it, and you can by e.g. the latest mars 4 model with 9k resolution (which is pretty insane). If you dont want to buy a 3d printer (understandable for many reasons) you can also use an online service, they can print them for you.
7:10 this gave me an idea. What about putting it around the "housing" to act as a "gasket" do it fills the panel gap and looks black instead of you being able to see through?
I only understand this half through (what do you mean by "housing"?), but usually you almost cant see through if the car is put together, because usually no light falls into the inside of the car. Another way could be to minimize the thickness of the saw to reduce gaps.
Hi, Just watched your video for the first time and I am very impressed with your modelling skills. I need to drill very small holes, i.e. # 70 drill bit - 0.028 in. diameter, in diecast cars, i.e. for whip antennas, and the metal is very hard to drill. Using a pin vise drill is extremely time consuming and I frequently break the bit. Would you recommend using a Dremel drill? May I should drill a larger hole, then fill it in with ABS plastic, then drill it to the size I need? Your thoughts and recommendations are greatly appreciated!
Hello, thats an interesting question, I've run into this problem as well. I installed an antenna on my MX5 Miata, there I just drilled a 0.8mm hole with an electric hand driller and the antenna itself (0,5mm or so) was just glued with instant glue at first. The gap was then filled with 2k glue and the antenna and the now filled hole was painted with black paint. Depending on what you want to do exactly you may have to improvise of course. Keep in mind that a high quality hss drill bit is needed, I made the mistake and bought some cheap ones in a huge set, they are maybe good as an toothpick replacement, but not for drilling. Hope this helps.
It would be easier if you had a one million dollar laser cutter- but if I did that with a small hacksaw the hot wheel will look like it went through a meat grinder. you have awesome skills to do that, most of us can't even draw a straight line even with the help of a ruler.😮
Practice, patience and trust into the proccess gets you anywhere. After you did it once or twice, you get used to it. Panel lines will guide you quite well. I think learning the skill is much easier than to buy and use a 1 million $ laser machine ;D
Could you make a short video of what tools an items needed to start doing our own custom hot wheels if you don’t already have a video like that ? I’m a new but semi old subscriber but haven’t been able to find ur page an it final came up !!! I’m exited to try on a few hot wheels I have
You barely need any tools. When I first started with this hobby I had much less tools than now. It also really depends on what you want to do. But it never hurts to have some basic equipment like: pliers, a cutter, some paint with small sized brushes, PLA sheets, a cutting mat, Hand and/or Electric Driller is quite essential (if you dont have an Electric Driller -> borrow one) and then you should be good to go. Be creative, you can use so many materials and do whatever you can imagine to customize. Happy customizing! :)
Danke für das Tutorial. Ich wollte das schon oft machen. Habe jetzt endlich meinen Ferrari 458 Liberty Walk fertig. Werde ein kleines CarPorn Video drüber machen. Tolles Video und bitte mehr davon.Grüße
If both are cut out, you will have to improvise. E.g. use an old post and "glue" it to the body with 2k epoxy, make a hinge so you can reopen the car, find a way to crimp the base into the body, magnets (very neat solution)... would be a few solutions that I would consider
Thanks a lot! :D Sadly, if there is a crack to your window, the best way would be just to buy another one which hasn't this issue. You can add clear plastic from the inside to the car, I think I would try that out. However on Hot Wheels casting the plastic windshields are quite thick, so you end up with a big gap between a new self made windshield and the dashboard that you ignore ore fill up with putty. Hope that helps xD

@bazzatron9482 There are jeweler saw blades nowadays that are a kevlar string with embedded diamond dust, expensive but cut exactly to width.
Thank you for sharing your method! This is very nice and simple.
Thanks a lot my mate! :D
Man o man great seeing more on hinges. Been wanting to do without messing up. these 300 Sls look clean🔥

Well done, they came out lookin’ GREAT!
Incredible work and amazing tutorials. ❤
Thank you very much!
Nice work!! 👋💪👍

Very impressive tutorial. You made it look so easy (I know it wasn’t)! Would you please tell me where I can purchase some of those v12 engines?
Thank you! I've 3D printed it, you can find the stl-file on thingiverse and/or cults3D.
I would recommend Prusa filament extrusion printer to get the best result
@@themodelcarproject I still don’t have one of those super cool toys.
@@MR.JUSTCOD I would recommend a resin printer, they deliver much more detail for small parts like HW addons.

Reminds me of the matchbox cars from the 60s and 70s. Wish they still made them like that. At least without a much higher price like today.

Hi what size of saw blade you use for this type of work??
nice video
Excellent custom
What jeweller saw blade size are you using? I'm thinking of buying a size #1.
Im using #1. Equals to 0.3mm thickness
I've actually wondered about this when I was little.
amazing!!!! did you think to make the taxi and police cars of movie fifth element?
How did u get the cable sheets on the wire if its glue

Oh, that's how you meant "open the doors".
it looks very nice, but you took out a lot of material.
Hey I’m really into hot wheels at the moment and especially customs and I was wondering if you do custom orders?
I love you men, thanks for the video
Thank you too! ✌️
Excellent 👍🏻👍🏻
Instead of tape to attach the doors could you use baking soda mixed with super glue?
Depends on how you will do it. At least one part of the mechanism has to move freely in a rotation, anything that works is allowed, doesnt matter how.
excellent video, I will put it into practice in my next piece
Thank you, happy customizing!
Wonderful job. Concerning the engine, I thought it had a 6cc in line
Thank you! Yes you are right. I just couldnt resist to fit as much cylinders as possible.
Glad to see a new video from you! Hope that everything is OK!

Do you use pla plate to cover the holes on the roof?
Which holes, the one where the shaft has been installed for the door hinges? Those can be filled with epoxy putty, if that was your question.
