I watched this whole video and it made me order tools and styrene to begin customizing again, I felt like I should’ve paid for all this info, Thankyou a heap!
I just thought. I’m ten mins into this, whilst in the bath chilling with a double whiskey. So the misses and I just realised, what you are showing here translates to life and to children’s education... but you make it real, fun and geeky. You should look to approaching a school to walk troublesome children through your process. The morale of the story is the importance of learning and focusing on bite size chunks in order to achieve the complete finished article. Alternatively just take pleasure In knowing there are loads of people watching this video and will now know how to build a miniature engine... but never will build one... but we know how to 🤪
Many thanks as always I appreciate the watch and comment. I dig that your chilling with the double whickey there my friend. During this lockdown I've raided everything in the alchol cupboard and reduced it to nothing and I have never been a big drinker! Bottles we'd acquired for years... parties, christmas etc., i've drank the lot...... I now finally feel proper grown up LOL! It makes my day when i get great feedback like this so thank you for making this 'ol boy happy today. All the best and stay safe 😁👍🚗🚓🚕🚙🏎
I just received some goodies from eBay to super detail engines. I searched for this type vid 2 years ago and no one did it. For turbos, heat tube and press down. Then thin wall and wrap with solder. Or those ferrules. I can’t find right size tho. I have you to thank for MEK. For pulleys I chock up in dremel and use like lathe. Comes out perfect. You should give a try. Think you’d like it. Ethernet cable stripped for bendable wires, brake lines and other plumbing.
SidewaysKing75 not that you need. You’ve always had best instructional vids of the group. If u don’t mind, what mm size ferrules are u using? 1-2mm? I gotta find a set
Thank you so very much for this tutorial!! I have been looking for something just like this for some time now. I love all the "fiddly bit" details that adds some realism to this scale. Most channels will just gloss over the engine without explaining, this level of detail is amazing. It is exactly what I've been needing. Thanks for sharing you skills and making all the vids! Stay safe and keep on keeping on!!
This video is just what i need. For my model railway I'm building a scrapyard of cars. I have a hundred or so 1/75 plastic cars which form the basis of the scrapyard but what is missing are the scrap engines and engine parts so often found in these yards. My cars are smaller than your but I'm sure the principles of building scrap engines will be the same as building them for your cars.. Thanks a lot.
Some INCREDIBLY detailed engines here!!.. They look like you could just drop them into the car, hook everything up, and they would start right up!!... Keep up the great work Bud!!
Fantastic demo my friend and perfect timing! I build 1/72 scale aircraft and I scratchbuild cockpit interiors on many older kits. Recently, I've really been enjoying messing with 1/64 cars, but never done anything like this. I have all the material at hand, so it's time to give it a go. May I just say that the plug wires are a bit....ahh... on the chunky side. Just sayin'....not fat shaming. Beautiful work!
Many thanks I appreciate that. Its difficult when I watch these back too at the size or detail sometimes. It's only just recently I've watched them on my TV and at 55" all of a sudden everything is 20 times bigger and shows up all sorts, making me wonder how I missed certain things or parts that look out of shape etc. Its not until you have it back in your hand and realise that to the naked eye it all looks OK again. Seeing anything that large throws it all out straight away so I here perfectly what you're saying. In my hand it looks okey cokey 😁👍🚗🚓🚕🚙🏎
A good tip I learned years ago for simulating spark plug boots is to find a wire diameter that the insulation just fits over your plug wires, then ya take a tiny section of that larger insulation and cut it at a 45 degree angle. Rotate the 2 cut pieces to make a 90 degree elbow for engines with that type of plug boots and for all others ya just slide I tiny bit over the ends without cutting em and voila! Ya got yourself plug wires WITH plug boots on the ends. Now, I use this in 1/24th scale. For this scale you could simply paint the ends black and maybe have better results. Solder has quite a few good uses for other scale items. I've made D rings/shackles by bending a small piece into that U shape and then smashing the ends together and drilling a hole through for the pin and then making the pins out of solder by smashing one end flat and drilling a small hole through the smashed bit. If you really wanna get some great tips that you can apply here you really need to check out some of the 1/24th scale model forums. Those guys in there are on a whole new level of insanity.
Another great vid and brilliant way of doing things sir !!! Thank you for doing thees vids for us you are a very talented person and one of the best on here LOL!! Take care over there my friend!!

Awesome, to see you do this.I love the things you do with 1.64 scale. I am going to do some of my own now. Thanks for the inspiration. I normally do 1.24 kits with heavy mods. I also have lots of little 1.64 cars I'm bored with. Good things to come.

Thanks for putting this up. I noticed in the background of a shot, a blue SWB Landrover, in 1/32 scale, made by Britains. It's a nice model, and I've had a couple (Safari, and Army) - it has coil sprung suspension, too - any plans for this? A 'Fast Show' 'Beast' ("It's gripped! Let's off-road!", etc.), perhaps? Those engines? Genius. Nice one.
Many thanks as alway Brian and nice spotting. I think I may just do it. It has fantastic suspension as you said and is broken which will make for a great resto. I had great memories playing with this and other Britains pieces on holiday in Anglessey as a kid and as luck made me find it once again I noticed the paint job on it..... It was my very first apptempt at repainting something, probably around 1985 or so. Would be good to show it off, fix it, restore it and upgrade it.😁👍🚗🚓🚕🚙🏎
Thank you so much for showing your trade secrets! This video is gonna help me so much! I'm currently working on a d series engine for a crx. Your videos are always so eye opening and I thank you very much for the great content you put out. Your the best in the game for attention to detail/realism 👍 🤘
What do you think about a race team based around famous game/ movie cars. Also great job on the exhausts especially, the solder is perfect scale almost.
Great idea.... I was going to do the Dirt 3 livery cars in teh 'SCOTT', 'ALPINESTARS' etc..... there was some great liveries on older machinery that look pretty sweet 😁👍🚗🚓🚕🚙🏎
SidewaysKing75 dirt 3 was the first game I completed, it is great, maybe do the yellow alpine (forgot if it’s was alpine stars or kickers). It’s great.
Im so glad i came across your channel sir ..... absolutely stunning work!!! And great and detailed explanation and walkthrough ...cheers from India🍻 stay blessed!!
You've inspired to actually take some action towards wanting to get into modelling. Bought some starter tools to get me started, tweezers, Emery boards etc, and got started on a little Airfix kit. It's supposed to be a 'simple' kits for kids but my god I was getting unbelievably frustrated at the fiddly bits on that...I now feel your pain.
Many thanks thats great to hear you've taken your first step. I'm honored I've helped. Trust me it's a great way to relax and chill. When the fiddly bits get annoying, down tools and walk away for a break I always say. It's a great little hobby and like any hobby they shouldn't annoy you, so just as you feel this, just have a time out. It's worth it when you look back at your creations. And if you muck it up..... great, I use them for other things like a junk/rusty project, you'll hone your skills in no time. All the very best my friend 😁👍🚗🚓🚕🚙🏎
I don't know why I just got this channel on my list but I love it!! I collect diecast cars this channel should have been subscribed to last year! I also loved the general Lee future car 😂 I laughed my ass off when I saw it!! Great job on what I saw of it! Great tutorial videos too !! I subscribed today too!
For cam belts and the like, I usually cut a small strip of heat shrink tubing and put it around the cam wheels. A second over a lighter and it will tighten up around the wheels! For short lengths of metal tubing with a slight step in it (think muffler or maybe the central cylinder of a turbo) I like to extract the tip from a ball point pen. Once you've gotten the ink out of it, it makes a great part.
Detail Master sells very small solid core detailing wire for 1/25th scale cars to make a wiring harness with. It works very well for plug wires in 1/64th scale & because it is a solid core wire you can bend it to what ever shape you want & it stays there. & it comes in a number of colors as well .
Now I have finished watching the video, those engines do look great including the little pallets. I think using paperclips might be better than solder, so you could solder the end of the pipes together into a ferrel.
The paperclips are way to stiff, the smaller you get the harder too. I've swaped to the solder now because of it and it's made it sooooo much easier, not least on the fingers :) Thanks for watching again Phil
Great video and amazing detail, on the bottom of the engine you cut out for the axle, if you made it a bit narrower and removed the rear part it could be the engine sump. What sort of temperature is required to soften the bar? You could use reptile heat mat depending on temperature.
I've done this funnily enough on my latest one I'm editing now. On this one there wasn't much room to do that by gluing on the front (sump) part with other bits going on at the front. Heat wise I waft it over a tea light quickly at height until it start to go. The thin stuff goes in an instant and more often than not is ruined really easily :(
I’ve always wondered how those tiny engines are made and I’m so lucky I came across your video an hour after upload! Stay safe!

Awesomeness, perhaps lighting up the vehicles would make it more awesome.!
Holy cow this is so good, especially with those turbos. I doubt I can make those injectors because I have really shaky hands hahaha! Great work man!
Many thanks 🚙🚗👍🏻
Even under lock down I still can't find time to sort one of these for any of my cars. Must try harder. Thanks for the tips and inspiration. 😀

Im so glad i came across your channel sir ..... absolutely stunning work!!! And great and detailed explanation and walkthrough ...cheers from India🍻 stay blessed!!

Verry good explained.. 2 thumbs up
Thanks for watching 🚗😁👍🏻
Very exquisite details!!
Very interesting on how you make your engines for a 1:64 scale models !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Many thanks Jerry 😁👍🚗🚓🚕🚙🏎
😎 exhaust system you are building for this build too!
Thank you very much Sam I appreciate it. I try to get new videos uploaded whenever I can but is often tricky at times 🏎🚗😁👍🏻
"Back To Hazzard" he calls that one, also did one based on "Smokey & The Bandit".
Ccongratulation ....
thanks for sharing your technique
Many thanks for watching 🏎🚙🚕🚓🚗😁👍
For cam belts and the like, I usually cut a small strip of heat shrink tubing and put it around the cam wheels. A second over a lighter and it will tighten up around the wheels! For short lengths of metal tubing with a slight step in it (think muffler or maybe the central cylinder of a turbo) I like to extract the tip from a ball point pen. Once you've gotten the ink out of it, it makes a great part.
Excellent tips there Frieden, I'll be sure to give them a try. Thank you very much for commenting.
@@SidewaysKing75 thanks for the reply! Loving your videos
This video is simply inspiring! I would love to see you build a V8 Engine with one of those blowers on top of it
Very clever
Many thanks 😁👍🚗🚓🚕🚙🏎
AWESOME ! I play with styrene for bigger scale, but man this is brill' Thank's for the Tutorial. Cheer's Tassie John
Many thanks for watching John..... its addictive stuff isn't it😁👍🚗🚓🚕🚙🏎
Detail Master sells very small solid core detailing wire for 1/25th scale cars to make a wiring harness with. It works very well for plug wires in 1/64th scale & because it is a solid core wire you can bend it to what ever shape you want & it stays there. & it comes in a number of colors as well .
Thanks for the info Brian, much appreciated 😁👍🚗🚓🚕🚙🏎
Awesome, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching😁👍🚗🚓🚕🚙🏎
Now I have finished watching the video, those engines do look great including the little pallets. I think using paperclips might be better than solder, so you could solder the end of the pipes together into a ferrel.
The paperclips are way to stiff, the smaller you get the harder too. I've swaped to the solder now because of it and it's made it sooooo much easier, not least on the fingers :) Thanks for watching again Phil
@@SidewaysKing75 not sure why I said paperclips, lol. Meant to says copper or aluminium cable, you can it them thicker and easier to bend into place.
Another masterclass.
Many thanks Jarrod😁👍🚗🚓🚕🚙🏎
You should make Edible Lolly Motors,,, Cause That is Eyecandy!
Unreal 75, best 1/64 Tuition Ever thanks.
Haha.... Thanks Jono 😁👍🚗🚓🚕🚙🏎
Great video! Nicely done!
Thank you very much 😁👍🚗🚓🚕🚙🏎
This is just incredible.
Thank you very much 🙏🏻🚗🚗👍🏻
Ahhh good ol inline-5 turbo engine from a 1983 Audi sport Quattro
Great video and amazing detail, on the bottom of the engine you cut out for the axle, if you made it a bit narrower and removed the rear part it could be the engine sump.
What sort of temperature is required to soften the bar? You could use reptile heat mat depending on temperature.
I've done this funnily enough on my latest one I'm editing now. On this one there wasn't much room to do that by gluing on the front (sump) part with other bits going on at the front. Heat wise I waft it over a tea light quickly at height until it start to go. The thin stuff goes in an instant and more often than not is ruined really easily :(
You are amazing skiLL & detaiL Sir...🤩👏👏👏👏👏😍👍
Thank you very much🙏🏻
nice make engine bro, i can try again for make the engine thx
