it depends on the placement of the axle if the axle is placed back you have increased mobility and speed but you cant carry 3 men,if you want to carry 3 men you have to place the axle in the middle to have the ability to carry them.oh and the type of egyptian chariot at that time was the one that could carry just 2 men the driver and the archer while the hitites had 3 man chariot

Interesting the kids had the right plan but instead went with the plan of their teacher which was wrong.

Their one and ONLY chance of victory is if they realize immediately that the lure plan isn't going to work and instantly switch to an offensive posture. If they don't do that, they're done for.
It's kind of embarrasing how obviously uncomfortable Sam is about saying anything negative about his teacher. The commentator is right, the student/teacher relationship is going to hamstring them here.

This group needs to attack as soon as possible, and attack continuously. Mutwalli managed to destroy half the Egyptian army, but he didn't press the attack or support it with his foot and so Ramses survived and stalemated the perfect trap.

@Dauntless07 this is about 1000 years before they were conquered by Macedon, that's where the hellenistic influence began i think you'll find

They should have capitalized on the initial shock of that Charior Charge against the Egyptian Infantry, following it up with ranks of Spearmen to pin that particular army in place and finish them off.
The Hittite Chariots would then be free to go off and counter the second wave of flanking Egyptians.

@timonsolus good detail because the experts made that blunder to show mounted general while they said that horses werent strong enough to carry a human ;P.

In real, quarter of the Hatti forces were in Kadeş forth and third-quarter was out. The Egyptians were coming to invade the forth and city.

So how does a non-bowman carrying chariot work? Or is there no such thing? IVe seen a few other episodes of this show where the chariots were carying swords I think...how do they work? it seems like itd be hard to get close enough to use a sword.....or did the use spears and lance type things?

@englishfrenchgerman These are heavy chariots, my friend. They are supposed to be used as a cavalry force.... not for skirmishes. I would have had my infantry envelop them in a second or two and then use my unopposed chariots to outflank the Hittites. I agree with you about the infantry though, to stop and wait for the enemy to cross the river on your terms is silly. Especially when they just have to wait for reinforcements.

lol don't mind him. but i think what he's trying to say is that while you are correct, this battle takes place way before Alexander conquered Egypt, meaning it hasn't yet been Hellenised, and so the representation here is accurate. Rather, the representation in RTW isn't the authentic one. I gather the developers did that in order to boost profits (e.g. people like to see stereotypical depictions of ancient Egyptians rather than the real thing)

The Hittite general and his bodyguards should be in chariots, not on horseback.
