Bengaluru is a global village, people not only from India but also from different part of the world come to work and call this place home...
But the fact is never be forgotten that,
Although people from different parts come here, the sole credit for making Bengaluru startup capital does not go to them.
But to the people of Karnataka who were so welcoming and with a open mind accepted the changes and made Bengaluru what it is today.
    .
    .
Kudos to backstage for this video.
    Need part-3 😂

Thank you for the thoughtful response Hitesh! You're absolutely right, Bengaluru would not be the city it is today without local Bengalurians. Any ideas on things to highlight for a potential Part 3? 🙂 -Caleb

Startups ahead of time. My wife used to work in Baroda based fintech start up CSAM established in early 2000 they had developed payment solutions on sms which could be run on nokia phones.
Unfortunately none of the Indian banks showed any interest. By 2015 CSAM was sold to MasterCard

Amazing research! I got to know so much from this series. I used think many startups we take for granted now are actually older than I knew and have done a lot of work over the years to reach where they are now.
The newer ones comparetively have it easier in raising capital.
Can you make a part 3 of the journey from 2008 onwards?
I am sure I'll still learn about something I might have missed.
I have not seen this information anywhere about what happened that spurred growth after the Y2K.
    Keep up team BwM!

When you mentioned about the Y2K Yesterday in the call, I barely remember the conversation I had with my dad when I was a kid. He explained to me the problem and what Y2K actually means. I miss him a lot. This video brought so much memories.
So much has happened in the startup ecosystem for what we are today. It's wild to think that what could happen in the next 10 years, 20 years down the line!
I also remember Junglee website and the first time Amazon had their .in website. It was crazy at those times.
I guess this is where " How Bengaluru Became India’s Silicon Valley" ends here. The next part has to be, "How Bengaluru Became India’s one of the top Startup hub". 😂

    • @backstagewithmillionaires
      @backstagewithmillionaires  2 года назад +2

Haha I guess you're right about the video title Karthik - the next episode probably shouldn't be *How Bengaluru Became India’s Silicon Valley* but rather *How Bengaluru Became One of the Top Startup Hubs in the World.* Currently, according to StartupBlink, it's ranked at #10 globally. The other cities (from 9th to 1st) are San Francisco Bay, New York, Beijing, LA, London, Boston, Shanghai, Tel Aviv Area, and Moscow. As access to venture capital increases too, I'm sure that ranking will go up, although city infrastructure/the perks of highly developed countries that Indian cities currently don't enjoy, may end up holding Bengaluru back from entering the Top 5 for a long time yet. But anyways, as you said in your comment, things have progressed so much in the last 10-20 years, that I'm sure another decade or two will bring absolutely incredible advancements. India will look back on the early '20s the same way it does the turn of the century, when e-commerce didn't exist, the internet was still a new thing (and extremely slow, too), the term *startup* was unknown and $1B in venture capital seemed like a pipe dream. Indians will reminisce about the years when India had less than 100 unicorns, when Indian startups were still predominately only known by Indian consumers (we are already beginning to see that change), when the startup ecosystem was raising less than $100B annually. So much is coming this decade 🙂 and in decades to come. Can't wait. -Caleb

Super fascinating to know how Indians played a significant role in preventing the World from such major crises right at the start of the new century. Y2K and Dotcom Bubble could’ve resulted in huge losses if they wouldn’t have been taken care of.

Hi Savita, thank you so much! 🙂 Sadly, the performance on the Foodlet/Foodiebay videos was so poor that we can't really justify making a Part 3 until/unless the performance improves. For whatever reason, the videos just didn't seem to connect with a large audience in the way that we were hoping. A month on the script, multiple weeks on the editing, for less than 20k views total just isn't enough to justify a third part unfortunately 😓 but let's see. I'll be changing the thumbnails and possibly titles this week in the hopes of boosting performance. -Caleb
