I love how Nikhil's trying to demystify game design down to its essence, not only with engines, platforms, and scripting languages, but also with the larger storyboard, streaming economics and actually generate something that an aspiring enthusiast can take away.
The podcast appeared to be heavily focused on mobile gaming, neglecting the broader gaming landscape in India. While mobile gaming may have a larger audience, it should not be the sole focus here when discussing the gaming industry in the country. Some people including me or I should say those with extensive gaming experience, may have anticipated a more comprehensive exploration of the true essence of gaming, which was lacking in the podcast. And I respectfully disagree with your point here ,Nikhil, did not even delve into the perspectives and experiences of dedicated gamers or the deeper significance of gaming. However, it is worth noting that the guest speakers, especially Kim, provided valuable insights into the Indian gaming community that even Indian gaming community may not have been aware of. Their knowledge and intellect deserves nothing but admiration and respect.

Animesh has a very myopic view, unsurprising considering his forte. But the others should have talked more about AA/AAA titles, Indies and the big forces in the game industry.EA and Ubisoft have had studios in India for longer than most of the panelists.
If you are a real gamer(not mobile) then I feel like we are born in the wrong country. Mobile gaming has picked up in India because we are poor and cannot afford to pay for a PC/console or games. F2p android games are played by the youth who don't earn or earn little money. Real salaries of Game Art and Design guys and for engineers it will be 20% more if you have good negotiation skill otherwise it will be same Small company: 2 LPA to 3.5 LPA (Entry level) Mid level company: 3.5 LPA to 6 LPA ( Entry level) Big company: 6-12 LPA (Entry level) Disclaimer: Mainly mid level and big companies not look for freshers. They want atleast 2 years of experience and by chance if they hire like once in a year for freshers then the opening will be so less like 2-6 person only.

I am off Instagram, but if you could let me know here where I can find the application link, I will do the necessary from my end. Thank you once again for paying it forward - it goes a long way.
Hey design colleges are there in india.. people from there have really strong foundations . colleges like nid and few iits like iitb and iitd . it will be a massive career option in upcoming years
Nikhil has done good homework on research he was asking on point question .... good thing to see that a person from financial field is here to know something about our gaming industry ... and respect for @8bitThug that how he answered the questions so cleaverly .
Thank you sooo much Nikhil !! The kind of questions you were asking was soooo soooo relevant and insightful and kudos the panel for sitting for such a long duration and answering each and everything soo patiently ! Please keep bringing more content
Thank you guys. Really valuable podcast . Lot of insight for an engineering student like me who love games, and want to make something in gaming in India.
The real appeal of Ludo is its social aspect. People gather around one mobile device, making it more about relationships than the game itself. However, monetisation is challenging because players often play offline to avoid ads. In India, where people often gamble based on the game. Players can sometimes predict the game's randomness, leading to bets placed outside the game. This insight might help bring monetisation into the game.
HEY Sir.... can u discuss with a panel of people to discuss on Art an Painting industry... the people involved , the pricing techniques, the way to lead the art market.,.everything?
Am i the only one who felt jospeh was the only one who was being honesty ? Indian guy couldn't justify going public nor could accept he made a mistake by going public. Krafton guy was scared, he was trained about what and how much to say. 8bit was just trying to sell gaming. Gaming can never be a career in india. Most of the so called gamers earn through RUclips and streams whether than actual gaming. Nikhil knew people as are earning through streams rather than actual gaming. If you are giving your 10yr old an iPad then obviously he would not go out and play physical game. Sports is never going to die. Most of india cannot afford a good pc or a console. Not even a high end phone. Gaming will never become what it is in the US, in India.
Partly true in the end but things are changing. 'chapris' as people say are able to get top tier phones on emi and what not easily. Also it's not really necessary for physical sport to die & esports to emerge as a sole survivor.
@@kanishhh I agree to the second part while I share different opinion regarding the affordability of high end devices. I do not think majority of india, which is the real india is still available to afford a phone worth 40 thousand. Even if we hypothetical think everyone has a good phone still it doesn't mean they wants to make a living out of it. As nikhil gave the stat, 96% gamers are mobile gamers. It is likely that they play games in their free time. Also It is extremely hard to make money from mobile games as compared to pc and console gaming. Majority revenue of gaming industry comes from the company who sell their game's copy. Eg gta, cod, etc. Even pubg is declining. I don't think there is any other mobile game through which gamers can make money. Majority of india cannot afford a high end pc or a console or even if they can then they don't get time to play. Work life balance is so bad in India. You cannot make a living out of Mobile games. You have to play pc/ console games which has a pretty small market in India. You would find more viewership on mobile games streams then pc games stream in India. Because majority of people are most of the time not even aware that there is this particular game called xyz. These so called gamers have started making vlogs and doing random challenges rather than playing the actual game.
Loved the pod. Joseph’s clarity of thought is brilliant! However I think you missed a key point about the work culture in the gaming world, the mad working hours and the lack of pay industry wide.
basically i realized that everyone tries to tell people about different opportunities but still no one can beat the 'IIT ENGINEER' in terms of money when everybody is talking about skills it kind of make me glad on my decision to join a iit
A lot of people might not know Especially those who are not into gaming If you compare gaming with cricket in cricket if you are playing ranji trophy or and other similar event that's when you are getting paid it takes hardly 4 years for a 14 or 15 year old cricketer to play ranji or any other league and get paid a great price BUT while in gaming no one gives around 4 years if they don't get anything back which is okay and brings the bread in the house people in gaming want early succes and apart from that ranji player get payed a lot compared to an average esports player at that level and also in cricket if someone performs there is a probability that he will become famous but in gaming if u r not famous it's hard for you to earn money only 10 to 12 names will dominate here but then there will be lakhs waiting like one day it'll be our chance but it might not come so yeah the point of keeping a backup ready is really really correct coz if u are successful and loved one day it takes not even a second for the audience to bring you down and if u don't have audience u don't have money....
Mr. Kamath, I would love you to a do a WTF is Cinema in India, with some of the best filmmakers, film producers of India. My pick would from be SS Rajamouli, Sanjay leela Bhansali, Farhan Akhtar/Ritesh Sidhwani, Vijay Kirgandur, Prashanth neel basically the people who balance art and the business......
Exciting times for Indian gaming indeed! Huge congrats to Nazara for the listing! 🎮 However, as a first-time visitor to their website, I can't help but feel it's a bit underwhelming. A sleek upgrade could really elevate the experience and match the industry's exciting growth!

Which i Don't like. Allready rejected multiple Investments. And Krafton Incubation program is also Investment against equity. So I'm just open for Grant's/Supporters.
would love to see a podcast on animation industry, as the anime form of entertainment is booming all over the world and it is still hasn't started in india in the form of production
Day 155 for asking WTF is manufacturing?
abe itne time main toh khud heen research paper likh de deta
To the point where Thug was saying that the world is moving towards shorts/reels culture, there's a seperate fanbase for podcasts these days, everyone's coming up with long durations of detailed podcasts of upto 2 to 3 hrs that clock pretty good views
S8UL 🚀
Amazing insights about entrepreneurship/gaming industry. I am really looking forward to more podcasts like this one.
Comments section seems everyone is taking about thug and thug and didn't even understood the deepness of this podcast we will having so much issue and we nothing what the world has achieved in gaming that the development, eSports(that is only bgmi nothing else much), funding and support
yeah I'm so dissatisfied that they didn't talk elaboratively about future and progress of pc and console gaming in India and the criticality of piracy in India instead they talked so much about how mobile gaming is the future and blah blah and the juncture at which thug said that games will need to be fast pace and all that felt like utter bullshit to me for me games need to be good at 3 parameters which are story-gameplay-graphics , if a game stand strong on these then its most prolly gonna be great , sorry to say but we needed better insights than this , although I liked a lot of points spoken by joseph he talked about a lot of technical stuff too which were very penetrative .
Thanks guys for Investing in Indian Gaming, and nurturing Indian Talent
Why don't you try next episode on Medical/Health Industry in India?.... You know... with some Influential Doctors/ Phama Entrepreneur/ Hospital Entrepreneurs. For people like us who wants to make something big in Medical Industry.
Day 156 for asking WTF is manufacturing?
@Nikhil Kamath - What is the initiative that you have taken which you discussed at the end of this podcast ?? I could not see any link in the video description .. Where can I find it ??
Joseph's clarity and knowledge of his playing field is insane
Inviting gaming influencers to provide feedback before launch is an amazing that can be used across other categories too 👏👏
S8ul ❤❤🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀
Next podcast on sneaker resellers like mainsteet etc or retail sellers like vnv or new emerging Indian sneaker brands like comet or gully labs
Great podcast . S8UL FTW
Where are the steps and the free courses which were talked about at 1:23:32
Real salaries of Game Art and Design guys and for engineers it will be 20% more if you have good negotiation skill otherwise it will be same
Small company: 2 LPA to 3.5 LPA (Entry level)
Mid level company: 3.5 LPA to 6 LPA ( Entry level)
Big company: 6-12 LPA (Entry level)
Disclaimer: Mainly mid level and big companies not look for freshers. They want atleast 2 years of experience and by chance if they hire like once in a year for freshers then the opening will be so less like 2-6 person only.
Hello @Nikhil Kamath, thank you to you and all the great panelists in this video. I want to ask about the form/application/poll where we can submit our profiles to be considered as one of the 20 selected candidates. My partner has been playing games even before he could speak a word, in my honest opinion, and I know he has watched this video, but I want to push him further to pursue his dream of cracking a career in gaming. I am off Instagram, but if you could let me know here where I can find the application link, I will do the necessary from my end. Thank you once again for paying it forward - it goes a long way.
+1, waiting for the application form.I hope Nikhil's team informs us about this very soon.
+1
I cannot believe that today's age has made possible to record and share such information. Nikhil has been a great equalizer
Want manufacturing 😊❤😊❤😊

Thank you sooo much Nikhil !! The kind of questions you were asking was soooo soooo relevant and insightful and kudos the panel for sitting for such a long duration and answering each and everything soo patiently ! Please keep bringing more content
Joseph kim has very good knowledge bro 🔥
Thank you guys. Really valuable podcast . Lot of insight for an engineering student like me who love games, and want to make something in gaming in India.
Thug the men with vision ❤
Why does he not invite day traders and provide insights into trading
@@Indian.cricket911 India need to increase its per capita income for more disposable money after that...something can change
A lot of people might not know
Especially those who are not into gaming
If you compare gaming with cricket in cricket if you are playing ranji trophy or and other similar event that's when you are getting paid it takes hardly 4 years for a 14 or 15 year old cricketer to play ranji or any other league and get paid a great price
BUT
while in gaming no one gives around 4 years if they don't get anything back which is okay and brings the bread in the house people in gaming want early succes and apart from that ranji player get payed a lot compared to an average esports player at that level and also in cricket if someone performs there is a probability that he will become famous but in gaming if u r not famous it's hard for you to earn money only 10 to 12 names will dominate here but then there will be lakhs waiting like one day it'll be our chance but it might not come so yeah the point of keeping a backup ready is really really correct coz if u are successful and loved one day it takes not even a second for the audience to bring you down and if u don't have audience u don't have money....
There is one word to describe what took you 2 paras, and that is 'ecosystem'.
If you have called people on the platform then atleast let them speak, why you keep cutting them off when they are telling something informative..
Thug 🧢🐐🚀🚀
Exciting times for Indian gaming indeed! Huge congrats to Nazara for the listing! 🎮 However, as a first-time visitor to their website, I can't help but feel it's a bit underwhelming. A sleek upgrade could really elevate the experience and match the industry's exciting growth!
Joseph is the most knowledgeable guy in the panel
Joseph spitting facts the entire podcast 🔥
Thug handled the questions so well🎉
The best part was the last part - "Doing something for the community"!
