Played this my sophomore year of high school and just got this video recommended to me 7 years after playing it. I remember hearing the recording of the judges comments in the band hall the next morning after UIL, and at the very end they were all speechless apart from one judge softly saying “wow”.
I played this two years ago, when I was apart of the Wyoming All State Honors Ensemble. Brian Balmages just so happened to be our director and this was the one piece that touched my heart so deeply that no other song has. I am a senior now but we are playing this piece as our senior song for concert band which will also be played at graduation. I cannot express how much this song means to me.

We played this for District Band my Junior year of HS - nearly cried first time we played it through from the sheer beauty of it 😭
