Thank you for the guide. I have one trouble with this, when I click on “unite” in pathfinder the pattern disappears and the entire rectangle becomes black. I am not able to understand what am I doing wrong, can you help?
I've been trying to make this for 3 hours or more =( after 6:53 it doesn't work. If I crop, it makes all the rectangle black. Please help me. I expanded it again, and tried different options but it doesn't work.
Help me. When i click Minus Back on Pathfinder it said "The filter produced no results. Please select one or more filled paths." even if i did exactly what you did. I selected both pattern and black square and it still says that. Pleaseee HELP ME!!
Thank you very much it was very helpful! But, it would have been better if you would have explain each step and why you were doing them. It helps a lot to remember. Anyways, great job! Keep it up
Thank you for valuable comment :) I still learning how to share my knowledge with others. I am grateful for every important tip. I promise that every next tutorial will be better :)
Thank you very much madam. You made this tutorial well detailed though I had one problem. I couldn't cropped the shape in the first place then I applied Expand Appearance and again Expanded it. After that I got the finished results. Your tutorials are good. Please make some watercolor flower tutorials with free brush presets.
Thank you for your video! Also, after I create this water effect, can I use it to colour something else? like another shape that I designed or do I need to do what you did with your shape on my other shape?
Hi - thanks so much for this tutorial! I'm having a problem with expanding (6:56) - when I click crop in pathfinder it says "the filter produced no results. Please select two overlapping paths", even though I have kept the box selected as you did. I feel that it's not expanding correctly because I don't see the anchor points of each individual section as you do. Can you please help me with this? Thanks!
I couldn't figure out how to replicate what was happening here but I found a workaround. Do the expand, then select all the elements using the direct selection tool (A) (just drag a box over the whole thing). You should see the outlines of all the individual little blobs. Copy and paste somewhere else. If you select what you just pasted you'll see the outline of a couple of giant invisible blocks. Delete those, then you'll be left with only the blobs as shapes and nothing else. Create a box and place that box BEHIND the shapes. Then select the box AND the shapes and do that path finder exclude thing. You should be left with basically an 'inverse' of the blobs. Takes some finicking around but it works.
1:28 wasn’t clear. It would be helpful to explain everything you click because I got lost when you went to delete the square during making the pattern. I watched it 3 times and still can’t tell what you clicked.
Great tutorial, drawing techniques by using patterns is a live saver so I'm definitely bookmarking this video for reference. Word of advice, this tutorial was WAY TOO FAST. If you're not going to explain the "Why" behind the setting you made, at least slow down so we can follow along. Also, zooming in and out could be a little smoother, if done too fast, it can be a headache. I had to repeat this video countless time for nearly an hour and it was stressful. Otherwise, great content!
This is very easy to follow. Thanks a lot!
Cool, thanks 🙏
When u draw this easy with just a mouse, u have to know that u r a legend

No problem :)
Thank you for the lesson. It is not clear what you do at 1:24 min. Why does the contour disappear? What hot keys do you press?
Delete:)
