im unique, summer forever. ☀️autumn is far too cold for me. but my birthday is in autumn and i love birthdays so it does hold a special place in my heart. im just sad i cant be outside more ): i just have big sensory issues with cold, feels so bad and makes me miserable
I'm thankful for a thoughtful, open edit on this video. I understand how difficult that vulnerability can be. You've inspired me to make sure I'm exploring with my media. I sometimes become frustrated when I find myself bearing into the process. Drawing is supposed to be fun. I need that reminder from time to time. 😅 I also need to hyu about tips for running your shop. Thanks again.
re: using the pastels in water soluble ways - I have found that this works best if you put down 1-2 colours lightly - before the paper gets thick with wax - and then go over it with water. I use them that way & it essentially makes them work pretty much like watercolour. once water has been added and the pigment has spread, they set like watercolour, too - it's also a great way to mix colours! I repeat this however often I want before going in dry and laying on thick :)
Possums and plushies! Wonderful!! Having a handcraft business is so much work. There isn't really a way to do other things while sewing. I do go through a lot of audiobooks and other listenable media tho.
i love your paintings, dont get me wrong. but your sketchbook work is truly what inspires me. the fact that you play around with a lot of materials and "dont know what youre doing (in your words) IS part of the charm of your style and youtube videos. ive never been able to stick with one or two types of art supplies. so it feels very validating that you use so many diff supplies and mediums cause thats ideal for me, i do that too ❤️
Something really nice about water soluble art supplies is that you can choose the area to apply to make them more saturated/light (depending on the material), which can be really useful for lighting effects! It's also just a great way to transition from a rough to smooth texture, or blend a bit better!
Yet another adorable sketchbook page. You are such an artistic inspiration! Thank you for being so open about your struggles with your craft, as well. 💖
Every time I see you upload it makes me so happy! And this came out on my birthday!! Thank you for this extra present 🎁 I really wanna try those Neocolors! Imma order some 😁
you addressed how media that you can't mix means you have to get a lot of colors: exactly why (alcohol) markers failed so hard for me and i prefer using watercolors as a substitute, although markers and pencils (everything that you have to get a large assortment of) is so QUICK and convenient UGH - what a dilemma
Yea you can layer which is kind of like mixing, but it's never the same, and you can't get nearly as much variety. I do find light/pastel alcohol markers are great because you can just layer them 5 times and not get a dark colour.
For me the best use for the "water soluble" part of water-soluble oil pastels is to use just plain water or sometimes watercolor to fix up smaller details that is more difficult to do with the pastels themselves. Idk if that's how it's supposed to be used lol but that's why I prefer water soluble ones over normal one (I don't like normal wax/oil pastels actually)
I believe she mentioned she's using Stillman and Birn? Im not entirely sure which series since there are different kinds with different papers but definitely look them up!
Shop update is now live! Grab little frog plushies, a frog sticker sheet, and more! shopjelarts.com/
Just ordered 3 "throgs" as my son and friend calls them! So cute x Nell.
I'm not sure about non-artists, but I think Autumn is by far the most loved season among artists:)
Can confirm. Am artist and Autumn is my favorite season hands down!
Im the only artist in my friend group who loves spring. Every one else loves autumn.
Autumn is just so cozy!

@QUEERVEEART same. I'm in Tx, so Summer is too hot, and winter is too cold. That's why I love spring.
Honestly who doesn't love opossums
So true!
My boss hates them. Found that out during the interview, actually.

Yessss to pillbug plushie! I love them! My sister has a phobia of them though so I would need to hide it from her 😅
I audibly gasped when you mentioned that you‘re making pill bug plushies!
Check my instagram story! I posted a photo of it :)))
Cute opossums, wonderful colours, relaxing video. Five stars, would eat here again. Lol
My favourite water soluble media is the inktense pencils from derwent

whenever I see sketch me on the thumbnail I wanna join in 🥹I’d love to draw these too
The channel “Painting and Chocolate” does a lot with watercolor pencils and some other water soluble mediums as well.

I really llike drawing with you
these are so cute!
Thank you so much!
These are amazing! I wish I could show you how I draw opossums! I doodle them everywhere 😅
I thought it very coincidental that you got to post my favorite animal near my birthday which is tomorrow. Lmao
Happy birthday! I thought the same. What a coincidence, since I saved one last night stuck in my stairs, after haven’t seen one for more than a year.
I LOVE
I always think that watersoluble media are meant for people who dont like using watercolor (like me) but like the look
Ooh okay, that's an interesting thought!
What kind of sketch book do you use, I need to find one that can work with watercolors❤
I believe she mentioned she's using Stillman and Birn? Im not entirely sure which series since there are different kinds with different papers but definitely look them up!
are u a possum person (person) or an opossum person (operson)
I have never heard anyone actually pronounce the first o in opossum before 😅
Try some platypus’!
haha well there's possums and there's opossums... I'm not sure if the O is actually pronounced but they are definitely spelled differently!
Yes alot of people don't know this and I just found out this year that we have been saying opossum wrong! I'm 23 😂
Im your 1k like! :3
