I can't find anything in this "vaporwave" genre, or any other genre for that matter, that sounds anything like this or as good as th8s. I love this album and all BB albums. Can anyone help me find anything similar ?
This has aged beautifully, I remember only vibing a few tracks when it first came out - just played the whole thing and no idea wtf I was thinking back then. The whole thing slaps
I bumped this album for a whole summer while working road construction. The late night drives home from a far away jobsite with photosynthesis blasting while i smoked a thick blunt. Good times.
Similar vibe for me. I'd listen to it on my 40 minute walk both to work and home. Despite a break up, it was a highly sociable and care free time. I fit in at work, and despite it having difficult days, I felt in control and in tune with the life I had wound up in. This album encapsulates that time for me.
The reason the internet went on a synthpunk/vaporwave crusade. It would be ridiculous to not see the influence that this and a certain other album had on today's life havers.
I’m glad this album is starting to receive more appreciation. In the early 2010s, Vaporwave as a whole become an ironic meme-infested wasteland. A lot of great projects, such as this, were dismissed as tryhard sub-genres with no substance. I hope that people who snubbed it in the past will come around and give it another chance.

I remember listening to this album almost everyday during one of the darkest periods of my life. This music calmed and soothed my depression and anxiety unlike anything else. It might have to do with the how the album is equal parts unsettling and lucid, much how depression tends to be. Thank you, Blank Banshee.
Okay so tripping to this was a fucking amazing idea. Sat in my bathtub in total darkness playing this with my eyes closed and I was convinced for the entire duration of the album that I was floating through space in a cramped spaceship awaiting rescue by another ship (which turned out to be the lamp-post outside my bathroom window turning on. I thought it was getting closer). I was getting these mad fucking tingles all over my body and the visuals were like these weird tessellating fractals made out of 3 lines sandwiched together, so I thought that I'd been injected with painkilling drugs because of some injury I'd sustained in space and that the space disease or whatever it was was causing me to become delirious and insane. After the album ended and I felt myself return to Earth (though still peaking of course) I went outside and looked at the sky, and the stars were just so fucking bright and intense. I swear to god I could see so many stars, so many more than usual. Along with this I saw this bright orange shooting star, and I just said "See you space cowboy" and broke down into tears. Fucking intense trip, 10/10 would do again. This album is fucking great for tripping to. I'd wholly recommend it.
No way. I've loved Seapunk, Vaporwave, and Chillwave for a while now but this is the first time I thought to trip to it, and it was amazing! Anyway, what does it matter if there are people out there who trip to it? Good for them for having good taste.
Joel Cernas What is reading comprehension I already said I like the music sober, all my post was doing was highlighting that it was also very amazing to trip to.

I'm a 90s kid who has a strong nostalgia for Windows 95 and Tomb Raider games (I actually got into 3D by playing with this exact model of Lara in 3DS Max) - it's an understatement to say that this album absolutely gripped me from the very begining, both with the cover art and the intro song. I rarely ever felt like a piece of art was just meant for me like this. Thanks @BLANKBANSHEE
l agree with this opinion. By the way, l've been always wondering, is that model from Tomb Raider 3? It's certainly from the classics but 1 and 2 don't have this good models and 4, 5, 6 have way more detailed models of her.
A guy who ghosted me for a year sent this album to me out of the blue because he thought I'd like it. I'm glad he did. We never spoke again. Hope you're well wherever you are.
This comment is probably gonna get lost in the sea of comments but I think its really interesting how the vaporwave movement was in a way like the counterculturist movement of the 60's, the 60's liked to use repurposed art for posters. Kinda the same thing with vaporwave but with 80's culture.
There´s a song from the Beatles, Revolution #9, from 1968 which consists only in a collage of aleatory sounds, totally nonsense. It was different from what vaporwave does, because the Beatles´ track consists only on sounds, while vaporwave used samples from acutal songs to create new songs. Burned a mixtape of “the Hits” back in the mid 2010s Private Cellar, Cherry Pepsi, Closer to you, Beach Walk, Enjoy Yourself, Mac Tonight, Sunday School, Macintosh Plus 420, StartUp, etc. even though i can’t always make out the lyrics- i feel them by heart those tracks got me through some pretty lonely late night drives home after getting totally zooted at a friends place or a late night gaming session, got me through High School my first couple jobs and now- It’s 5am and I feel like I’m not the same dumb kid, i mean in some ways i still am a dumb adult but I’ve changed, for the better? Who knows- who cares right?
My thoughts exactly, time flies doesn't it? I've realized the reason is the monotony of life, we gotta explore and live more so time doesnt fly as fast!
I put this album on my headphones and fell asleep. I started having crazy dreams while hearing the music. When Photosynthesis came on, I was back in 1970 on a date with a girl in a coffee shop or something. We ordered apple pie and didnt really talk we just ate it and stared into each other while this thing played and now I've attached this song to this dream and it feels extremely nostalgic...
im glad i came back to this album after not listening to it for years. lately ive been getting deeper into jazz and pretty recently i found hard bop and post bop to be my favorite kinds of music. ive been longing to compose a post bop suite, and listening to the polytonality (or atonality in my opinion but thats its own debate) that occurs on this album with the use of chords that have no diatonic functional relationships with one another in songs like Ammonia Clouds, where various major7 chords with no relationships with one another are used, is really inspiring because it embodies the "controlled freedom" that's seen in post bop. i feel like this album is a good example of where im at with my ideas and can get deeper melodically. aside from the compositional techniques, the sound effects and general aesthetic that comes with the album are still relevant today in my opinion, almost 6 years later.
I've been in love with this album ever since I was a teenager in High School so many years ago, I still adore this album & love the work Blank puts out today as an adult! I grew up with this music & I wouldn't have it any other way!

Oh wait is that a year or something?
I feel you bro.
FFS, this is already 11 y/o, i feel old... the 2010's were truly a decade of transitions
My thoughts exactly, time flies doesn't it? I've realized the reason is the monotony of life, we gotta explore and live more so time doesnt fly as fast!
@@LunarBulletDev you get it
man i used to listen to this on the bus in high school, still bumpin today
oh shit that profile pic
I put this album on my headphones and fell asleep. I started having crazy dreams while hearing the music. When Photosynthesis came on, I was back in 1970 on a date with a girl in a coffee shop or something. We ordered apple pie and didnt really talk we just ate it and stared into each other while this thing played and now I've attached this song to this dream and it feels extremely nostalgic...
One of the more cohesive and well executed Vaporwave releases out their.
*there. My stupid mistake.
***** you know what they meant, no one likes a grammar nazi.
thank you based god
i enjoy you tonight
Change da world, my final meassage, goodbye
This is the vaporwave album I used to listen to a lot. Great to sleep to.
im glad i came back to this album after not listening to it for years. lately ive been getting deeper into jazz and pretty recently i found hard bop and post bop to be my favorite kinds of music. ive been longing to compose a post bop suite, and listening to the polytonality (or atonality in my opinion but thats its own debate) that occurs on this album with the use of chords that have no diatonic functional relationships with one another in songs like Ammonia Clouds, where various major7 chords with no relationships with one another are used, is really inspiring because it embodies the "controlled freedom" that's seen in post bop. i feel like this album is a good example of where im at with my ideas and can get deeper melodically. aside from the compositional techniques, the sound effects and general aesthetic that comes with the album are still relevant today in my opinion, almost 6 years later.

It keeps people coming back, that's a good album, much needed in today's world of mumble crap

Lyrics:
wavestep: it's as simples as pushing squares, lay me down on a bed of glass cut myself as i turn.
bathsalts:
drop that guys
drop that guys...
venus death trap:
Seance city
Seance city..
hyper object:
everything seemed funny
everything seemed so dull
spent your whole life running
everything seemed so dull..
you can't recall
you can't recall..
photosyntesis:
runnin..
runnin..
here we go..
running home..
and when i laugh i'm just a little bored.
dreamcast
to go for seconds
a cold decision
a righteous power or only a dud
comin to me
show me something
i don't expect you turn water to wine
blood makes the grass grow a little greener
tells you more than song and dance
the vicious retort out of fear
tell me who gonna hold your hand through this..
makes blood
makes blood
blood makes the grass grow
makes the grass grow
makes the grass grow
no one comes back..
teen pregnancy:
i'm just a kid
it was just a little mistake
purity boys:
everytime i get the inspiration to go change things around no one's gone to help me look for places where new things might be found where can i turn when my fair wheater friends cop out
what is all about
each time things start to happen again i think i got something good goind to myself
but what goes wrong
sometimes i feel very sad
i guess i just wasn't made for this times.
