As much as 0 was, I love each of them the same. I think this speaks for everybody, considering 0 was what brought us to Blank Banshee in the first place.
I still cite this album as one of the best mixed electronic albums ever. The stereo imaging is very intricate. Everything is in motion - The sounds push and pull, breath and pump, and cover everywhere wide to narrow, near, far, high, low. All that mixed with an excellent and varied sample selection makes for aural bliss. A good example of his excellent mixing is 03:52 - or any point in the album really. I use this album to test new speakers/headphones! Up there with Boards of Canada for me in terms of favourite electronic artists. Blank Banshee is excellent. Definitely the king of Vaporwave. I think he's even moved past the genre, and is his own thing.
@Flicks If you're referring to the lows being ducked like crazy, I can see that... I like that pump, but it can be a bit disruptive. Some really long releases too. Would be cool to hear without. I think it suits the overall chaotic nature of this album though.
Why? Is it like one of those tattoo-gun motors attached to a fleshlight? Sounds scary bro, how you think up something like that? You screwed up in da head man.
Brooo I remember super into to blank banshee in 7th grade and I wondered if he ever would make another album. One day in English I got the notification MEGA dropped and I shit myself.
The feeling I get from EXOS is downright surreal - it dosen't give off a sense of closure, but a sense of "goodbye, I'll miss you". Almost like the end of a story or game, where a hero you play far more significant and needed than yourself, just slowly ascending whilst people cheer and release fireworks for them as the credits roll. And after you shut off the console, just for a minute it feels like you have a sad sense of achivement and value, real or not. GG, Banshee.
I remember the entire story banshee wrote leading up to this album. It fits in with the music, too. Nobody even thought it was him. It all feels like a blur now. I remember listening to this day it came out.
Blank Banshee's and many other vaporwave/synthwave records hold so many of my early teenage memories and feelings - no matter how many years have passed since then. So thanks for the music!

I remember waiting for like nearly a year and a half to 2 years for this album to come out. I was stoked when it did. I'll always miss the early - mid 2010s for having so much unique undiscovered music.

What a magical time that was :) This album was my companion through many trips, and deserves a spot in the "akashic record" right along side the music of classics like Yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis, the Orb, Boards of Canada, Tangerine Dream and tones others....

To call a genre "dead" can mean two things: either the genre has outlived its usefulness as a product on the market (i.e. a change in style), or that it no longer has any relevance to our lives. The first can't be true because vaporwave never was economically "successful." The second can't be true because we're still haunted by the ghost utopias of a failed consumer paradise. Vaporwave continues to provide us with a necessary expression of our moment in American history, a wry take on our economic and cultural decline. When people call vaporwave "dead", it might be more useful to think of the pronouncement as an appropriation of the language of marketing itself, of a planned or synthetic obsolescence, employed before the act of "selling out" in order to protect the integrity of the genre. Vaporwave is dead because it's not a product in the way that hip hop, pop, or country music have become. It was never for sale that way, so in a sense it was always "dead." Long live vaporwave.
