I appreciate when the “which commander is best” game actually has a significant impact from one of the commanders, rather than “turns out Thoracle is good no matter who your commander is.”
What's insane to me is yes, Cam had the thing, but cam also played the urza's saga on turn one, so even if he didnt naturally have the dreadnaught, he still saga's for it turn 3 and curie still would do the thing
I guess no one else caught the misplay at 8:42 where tyler puts a counter from Mothman onto the phantasmal image which shouldn't happen because Mothman targets
Tyler continues to be an absurdly good player. Also holy shit cam actually drew his entire deck. Felt like he just had the best start the deck possibly can have. I don't feel like it's gonna do this every time but it sure has potential!
lots of people are going to build this deck on the hope of having even one single game with such an incredible start, only for it to never happen again and be a subpar urza forever.
@@thedoctor1471 I mean nothing wrong with trying it out. It does seem fun but I do think people will hope for this kind of game every game and end up very disappointed.
@@kenkokuten4887 ho I absolutely agree, people.should play whatever they like and have fun with. Tyler's quiet playstyle just lets him find lanes no one sees coming; props to him. Props to everyone for still pushing through Cam's card advantage, and to Cam for getting ahead and staying there! Great game!
Holy hell Cam this Curie deck might shift me from my love of Magda. Love the absurd amount of lines you had, drawing your entire deck, and Aetherflux Reservoir finishers.
Great vid! Not that it really matters but Tyler shouldnt be able to put counters on his "Kellogg" Phantasmal image without it sacrificing itself. Otherwise great game as always

What I don't understand is, why the Dreadnaught trigger doesn't resolve? It's on the stack, no matter if it is exiled or not, so as far as I understand it, the Curie has to be sacrificed. But since nobody else thinks that, I'm curious about why the trigger won't resolve, can anybody help me out here?
A bit late but I have the answer, the Curie became a copy of the Dreadnought, but it's a different permanent. In response to the Dreadnought trigger you can just have the original be sacrificed, but it's no longer there, and Curie is a different Dreadnought. Yeah it stumped me for a bit too, but the last part of Dreadnought's text where you can opt to have it be sacrificed instead is the crucial part. You may already know this as well, but because the effect is a trigger and not a cost, you don't need to be ABLE to sacrifice Dreadnought to CHOOSE to sacrifice Dreadnought.
Copying this from another comment I made... The Curie does become a copy of the Dreadnought, but it's a different permanent. I loved Curie in Fallout 4 and I think her deck looks pretty awesome. While this set doesn't have a ton of cEDH viability, I think you guys did an awesome job showcasing some cool stuff!
That was a nice game and so close for the Mothman...however only one thing...that Phimage should have been dead to the first counter from Mothman...but oh yeah Cam that was nuts
I hope we get more Wiseman games! I played him at MCChicago, and had a blast. Won several games with him, just wish I would have had the chance to play him against y’all!
This is my problem with FOOD CHAIN, yes it's an amazing win con and there are now two easy to cast creatures you can run that can protect it from being countered. Once it's exiled, your main way to get it back is Rift Sweeper... Which shuffles it from exile into your library as an ETB. If you have access to white, Pull from Eternity pulls it from Exile to your graveyard. But if you are not running either your sitting there watching the other players play the game while you just sit there and watch. This is assuming you are not running any other win condition in your entire deck. i find it interesting that you talk about Aetherflux Reservoir at the end, it should be one of the most well known commander cards as it's basically the only "win condition" card some decks can run that's not "combat."
You are correct. That part of Mothman's ability does target, and Phantasmal Image gets sad and dies when it is targeted, so if Mothman tries to give him the juice... Phantasmal gets big dead.
I don't know why this is the first time I noticed that this isn't a webcam game. Apparently the phone never tipped me off, but seeing the mew rad tokens get thrown, and then noticing Nate's deck on tylers playmat broke my brain.
Maybe someone can chime in but i thought that if you copied something it only copied the exact text on the physical card itself? In example earlier in the video they mentioned copying curie after it exiled dreadnought. Would a clone not just be a curie as printed and not a 12/12?
Dreadnought's trigger is to sac creatures with total power 12 or greater, and if you don't, sac Dreadnought. So a Curie player needs simply choose not to make the sacrifice.
Can Tyler put the +1/+1 counters from mothman on his phantasmal kellog? Or would that trigger phantasmal sacrificing itself? Probably doesn't matter but I was curious!
Great video guys! However, I'm confused about why you haven't chosen the clear best commander in the set to try here. The Master, Transcendent is a much better version of The Wise Mothman, and it has even a top 4 in a tournament already even though it has only been legal for a week (although the deck was played by ComedIan, so most of the merit for the result goes to the player).
Was in the process of building Curie do it's awesome to see it go off and show so many cards. Out of curiosity what is rings of brighthearth intended for
Im wondering, why not emry? I feel like emry does the same but is more resilient ? The ability to draw cards is insane with curie but I feel like she has an impact only on the early game, while emry the more the games goes on, you get access to your graveyard as well as your deck? Loved the vid!
Are those mews just self printed out to use as tokens or are they the actual promo card? Because you know depending on the version and quality of the card you’re kinda throwing around £12 to £800 like it’s a 2p common lol, iv seen some up online for 1000 to 2000, they were graded though . I only know this because I just started selling all my old collections for more mtg money 😂😂.
Mothman is probably better than Ukkima/Cazur from the perspective that you actually don't mind casting your commander and so you can reasonably place Fierce Guardianship. In Ukkima (I play Ukkima for what it's worth) you almost never cast your commanders unless you are winning or it's dire straights. So because of that you dont' run fierce which is of course an amazing counter spell to have access to. Mothman also just seems like a decent card to play out and do stuff with while waiting for the win to come around.
So, can you use Leveler the same way you did Phyrexian Dreadnaught? In response to Leveler's ETB, you exile to make Curie a copy, so you don't have to remove your library from the game. Also, Eater of Days?
No, Dreadnaught has sacrifice total power of 12 or sac dreadnaught so when the trigger resolves you can choose the "or sac dreadnaught" option to no effect, Leveler and Eater of Days the trigger will go on the stack and resolve no matter what and they don't have the "or sac this creature" wording.
Tyler shouldnt have been able to target his Phantasmal Image Kellogg with Mothman counters bc of illusion 'sac when it becomes the target of spell or ability' text.
This was hilarious 😂😂😂 but I do have a question: I see we have a lot of ways to make infinite mana but I'm not seeing things we could use it for like staff of domination or such. Am I wrong here?.

Wouldn't the phantasmal image die once target to get the +1/+1 counters?
Not a huge deal i dont think, but the phantasmal image shouldve been sac'd when mothman triggered and Tyler targetted it to put a counter on it. 8:57

Love seeing Curie pop off, mono blue artifacts let's go!!!! (Still sad Emry never quite made it in cEDH...)

Dreadnought's trigger is to sac creatures with total power 12 or greater, and if you don't, sac Dreadnought. So a Curie player needs simply choose not to make the sacrifice.
What do you guys think about the bobbleheads?
Missplay on the initial mothman trigger, tyler targeted the kellog phantasmal image which shouldve been sacrificed and should not be around
Going forward how good is mothman foodchain?

Dreadnought has trample, so it shouldn't be too different.
Did you guys get a new camera or new lights? The image quality seems much higher.
Where did the dreadnaught etb go? Cam would have to sac 12 power worth of creaures right?
Or sacrifice the dreadnought. Since the dreadnought was already gone he elected to do that and lost nothing
