I learned recently that, in old literature/stories, "meeting your destiny" doesn't necessarily mean a happy ending.. it usually means meeting your doom/death or something of the like. Hence Darth Vader and other characters in the original Star Wars trilogy urging Luke to "face his destiny". I guess that applies to Frank Castle. His destiny is to become The Punisher.

The Punishing Spider is such a COOL idea. It's even better because he doesn't just go insane. Peter just makes a couple different choices which spiral into way more different choices making it more believable that the story would go this way.

This one was really underwhelming to me for some reason. Aside from Peter killing his villains and Gwen surviving, nothing really groundbreaking or interesting happened. I expected it to dive more into the broken psyche of a Peter Parker who completely lost it but all we got was him just occasionally talking about guns. But still keep it up with the What If videos. I love hearing your narration!

Haven't we already seen a broken peter parker done like a thousand times already? We've seen Peter suffer so much it actually felt refreshing to see his story end happily.
Thank you I felt the same way. Felt odd sure Peter could have a happy life but by doing the wrong thing. I feel Spidey killing should have way bigger changes to the wider universe. Overall this felt the same just instead of red and blue its black and white.
If they were to one day pick up where they left off with a sequel to this comic it could center on Harry as the Goblin tryna kill Peter and Frank as the next Punisher who's tryna kill Harry and Peter's struggle against the both of them who both serve as the mirror to his actions and as well as the consequences for them.
Yeah, and that sequel is when he creates the Iconic blue and red costume, finding redemption by stopping them both without resorting to his old ways of killing.
I love that it didn't go the route of Peter killing every criminal he fought just those who were extremely violent. It's very logical and kinda connects to the character of Peter. Also it ending on a happy note was amazing as well.
Ending those villains is both the most realistic and best possible outcome in comics. Where villains of the week have their moment in the spotlight who knows how much countless damage they cause in their selfishness and lives they take that's pushed to the side. I'm glad that Punisher Spider-Man was taken into this account and that is given a good result in turn with Gwen alive. He's earned his happy ending by saving lives by ending evil ones.
I know killing the villains doesn't make you better than them and isn't the hero's code but I am a fan of the punisher's type of justice. It's just cool, satisfying and just straight to the point. Sometimes I am infuriated seeing the same villains come back over and over again
This comic proves the real reason why heroes dont kill because there stories would only be 10 or less issues long if they killed their most dangerous enemies but honestly i like how this peter parkers story ended. He eliminated those who threatened him or his family, retires as spiderman, and gets to live out the rest of his days in peaceful with the women he loves. I love this peters attitude as well he knows he cant stop crime even if he killed every thug in the city its just human nature. He dosnt care, all thats left is ordianry drug dealers and gangsters that the police should can handle and peter is fine with that. Also this peter is not a wise cracking optimist like 616 peter. He dosnt want or sees himself as a hero especially with the daily bugle making him out to be a cold blooded killer even though that wasnt the case. This peter just wanted to protect his loved ones and in the end he gets his wish and is fine letting go of being spiderman.

Ahh, two of the three pinnacles of comic hero morality combined. A punishing spider would be terrifyingly effective. I always found it funny how Punisher was meant to be a villain, now he’s considered an anti-hero (much like Deadpool & Harley Quinn). Funnier still is how the third pinnacle Wolverine fits in. Punisher respects Wolverine because he’s the best there is at what he does (even if what he does isn’t very nice). Wolverine respects Spider-Man for he ability to keep his hands & conscience clean. Spider-Man is always pulling his punches so he doesn’t become the Punisher (even though he wants to).
I’m literally writing a fanfic story on the marvel and dc universes combined into one new universe similar the arrowverse new multiverse. Spider-Man in this would be a Spider-Man would kill his enemies but he would ONLY kill those who he had given so many chances of redemption to change but they wouldn’t change. So this Spider-Man is a Spider-Man who saves people but he acknowledges that he can’t save everyone and he won’t be afraid to kill

Wouldn't Spider-Man being the Punisher just be Peter giving into Venom or Carnage. This was interesting, but if we must see Spider-Man kill his enemies, I enjoyed the stories of being Venom or Carnage.
Only issue I had with the story is uncle Ben's catch phrase, Peter never learned in the end he had the power and went to the max with it and then selfishness drives him to hang up the suit, I'm glad Peter got a happy ending but spiderman as a character will always be a hero

I think this iteration makes a LOT more sense for a lethal interpretation of Spider-Man than the assassin one.

I love how menacing and pissed off Spiderman's mask is when he's the punisher. It's like to internalize that peter/the REAL punisher is pissed off ALL THE TIME!

Favorite what if story.
It would of been better if they merged Peter Parker with Frank Castle, and did a mixture of their backstories leading up to Punishing Spider, because his backstory being told the same way over and Over and OVER AGAIN!!! Is starting to become VERY tedious.
Like Peter Castleone, Or Franklin Parker. Him and his parents get caught in the crossfire of a gang-war in central park. He is the only survivor, and with his parents dead he moves in with his aunt and uncle...... ect.
Like why couldn’t they do something like that? We alright have the “What if, Punisher got the Venom Symbiote” which is one of my favourite and prized What If? Comics Ive owned since childhood!
That was a killer What-If Frankie story. An unpowered Frank is already dangerous. But Frankie possessing ANY kind of power, like a symbiote? Mobsters beware. What's next, Frank attaining cosmic powers? He'd give Captain Marvel a run for her money if that happened!

I hope this version of Peter Parker gets a live action movie or a Marvel what if episode he seems really cool and is one of my favourite alternate versions of spider man.

Wouldn't Spider-Man being the Punisher just be Peter giving into Venom or Carnage.
This was interesting, but if we must see Spider-Man kill his enemies, I enjoyed the stories of being Venom or Carnage.
Only issue I had with the story is uncle Ben's catch phrase, Peter never learned in the end he had the power and went to the max with it and then selfishness drives him to hang up the suit, I'm glad Peter got a happy ending but spiderman as a character will always be a hero
