Ben nailed it right!!!! The Rio bassline is, indeed, a beast!!!! I think John is one of the most underrated bass players ever!!!! C'mon, the guy wrote the basslines to Save a Prayer and Rio and nobody gives him the role in bass world that he deserves!!!!
Me too, but didn't realize it until later when I noticed a similarity listening to them again. This interview was so full of inspiration I feel like I did when I went to see my first concert- It was Duran Duran on their Seven and the Ragged Tiger tour at the LA Forum.
This is so interesting and I love the interviewer's fanboy questions as well as the technical stuff. It makes for a great interview when an interviewer is so enthused about his subject. Thanks for sharing!! :D
I do think and wish that guitar was a more important part of their music. John says it's as important as it used to be but I think and feel on Paper Gods, the guitar is so much of what helps the album to shine! Nile and John Frusciante add something that has been missing. Warren added so much to the sound guitar wise, I think too!
His definition of "playing the song start to finish" is probably stricter than most of us. He probably considers it a failure if he misses a single ghost note.
He's so humble! He doesn't realize how great he truly is...

John Taylor, one of THE biggest reasons why I became a bass player.
MeBrewMan Me too!! One of my main influences!
Me too!

MeBrewMan a very good reason👏
Same ... John Taylor and Simon Gallup
This is the best interview with John I've yet seen. The questions are varied and John's answers are reflective and generous. Awesome.
Mad props for the BURN t-shirt! 🔥
John’s comments about the Stones and Stevie Wonder was hilarious! 😆 love how humble he is ❤️

"Definitely dig that" (x1,500,000 times)

Great interview! I just wish I could have heard the questions a little clearer.

So upset I couldn't go this year. Thanx for posting this!
John has a very beautiful and sexy voice ( for girls its really pleasant to hear )💖
I don't know why Ben can't play the song Rio from start to finish. I've seen him play (on multiple instruments), he seems more than capable of it

No one asked JT about "Reportage" the unreleased album of DD. The last album that Andy Taylor worked on. Really?
His Brummie accent stands out a MILE at 18.47 when he says: "I'm not terribly interested". I'm Australian, and I picked it...
I always wonder... what if "Duran Duran" is a fashion brand......
Mick Karn is an influence..right
BURN shirt. So sick.
damn it stop going out of focus pisses me off
Mick Karn avoided Jaco
this is embarrassing, poor John
Yes, the “I can dig that” phrase drove me crazy.
