For the life of me I can't figure out why they never included the awesome theming and costumes again. Everybody who has ever played MP 2 absolutely loved it.
Maybe because it would take more work on something that isn’t important?
@@BinglesP It is important to me because it makes MP2 my favourite entry in the series. You can theoretically subtract a lot of things from a game that aren't necessarily "important" in terms of core gameplay, but then you end up with something totally sterile and charmless.

8 was still good. It could have been better in the mini-game department, not using the nunchunk hampered it, but I still liked it.
I actually enjoyed more minigames in Mario Party 8 than I did in Mario Party 2, and Mario Party 2 is among my favorite games in the Mario Party franchise.

+AntDude 9:16-9:21 I have to disagree with you on that. I find that the new Mario Party games do have that appeal. I haven't played the multiplayer mode of Mario Party 5 and Mario Party 6, but I feel like it has that appeal from watching certain videos. I have also not played the multiplayer mode of Mario Party: Island Tour, but I have seen from videos that the appeal you mentioned is still there because of these certain videos. I do not have Mario Party 10, but I feel like I would like it since I like Mario Party 9, because from clips it seems that Mario Party 9 and Mario Party 10 are very similar to each other, compared to the previous Mario Party games. I do not have Mario Party Advance though, as I do not care to get that game. Maybe the new games don't have that appeal and I am just extremely lucky to get it. Maybe the new games do have that appeal and you are just extremely unlucky. Maybe we just have different opinions.

Honestly, Mario Party 2, dude. The mini games were great (even if a lot involved button mashing, which that one person always won), the boards were all unique, the characters freaking DRESS UP ACCORDING TO WHERE YOU'RE PLAYING, and the goal was simple, just get the most stars. The goal didn't change from map to map.

***** I'd have to say 3. Best mini games in that one. The board maps are pretty iffy at times, but I love the 3 hold items, all the new items at that, and the mini games are all fantastic in my book. But I will agree it has it's flaws. Another one I like is 5 & 6. It pains me to say 8 is my least favorite when 8 is my favorite number... :' (

I LOVE MP2! It's probably the best in the series! However, I loved 8 as well. I kinda grew up on it.
8 is totally underrated. Seriously, it's still one of my go-to multiplayer games for consoles.

05:20 Well not for some unexplained reason, each of the characters has a specific item that they go for more often than other items. Mario = Mushrooms (obviously), Luig = Skeleton Key, Peach = Plunder chest, Yoshi = Warp Block, Wario = Dueling Glove Donkey Kong = Bowser Bomb. They also did this in Mario Party 3 where the only difference was Mario = Golden Mushroom, DK =Reverse Mushroom (sure there wasn't a bowser bomb in this game, but there is a Bowser suit)

This was the Mario Party I played, and it was fun! Very charming, loved the themes and the simplicity of it, yet with so much variety!

Oh maaan, so many memories of this game S2 so much blood was shed in the living room, and so much fun at the same time XD One of the minigames I liked most was the one with the platforms in the sky and you had to get to the finishing line first.
you know how Mario party 1 had those awful analog stick rotation games that more times than not ended in physical pain and torment. "ahhhhhhh!" good times!

I've really enjoyed the newer Mario Parties. We tried playing the older ones but they take a much longer time and the newer ones give you mini stars based on how well you do in the mini games so doing good in the mini games feels more rewarding.

Lagit have a bloodlust against waluigi due to that game. kamek's library, final couple of turns, was in first, but the purple spring was fully stocked with star pipes. Rage then Insued. Luigi shares that bloodlust, but to a lesser extent
Honestly, I seem to be the only one who likes the latter Mario Party Games (Haven't played 10, though, so I really can't have an opinion on that). One of the most nostalgic, for me at least, is Mario Party DS.....and I was stupid enough to sell it...*enormous face plam*
MP2 was probably the most charming of all the Mario Parties.
It always comes down to Mario party 2 vs 3 for me. Can't fault anyone for picking either
Mario Party 2 is also my favourite in the series; when we do retro night with friends on saturday evenings; we nearly always play MP2 and not 1, 3, 4, 5,6 or 7.
Reason I love Mario Party. Luigi wins by doing absolutely nothing. But I DO actually play Mario Party, don't get me wrong.
Actually, I think LWBDANT (Luigi Wins By Doing Absolutely Nothing) is greater than even my favourite Mario Party games (Mario Party 2 - 6 and DS) Just by the idea and delivery alone!
I had to laugh when it zoomed in on Yoshi and Luigi being strange alliances, because those are literally the characters my BFF and I always pick.
The costumes in this game for the characters are so much fun.
Mario Party 2 is infamous for a lot of wildly egregious balancing issues but that’s what made it fun the chaos is what made that game memorable lol

The car mechanic was placed in so the developers could make sure all the players were "fully engaged and not just staring at the TV screen." (Nintendo's words, not mine.)
@@SolEmeralds18 It was actually because previous titles recived weak reviews from critics (for example, Eurogamer gived Mario Party 4 a 5/10) for the reperitve formular, so ND Cube changed the fomular to get better scores from crítics. So it's all the critics' fault (especially Eurogamer).
One of my favorite memories from playing Mario party 5 was on the space board(I think?) and of my friends kept getting screwed over by the mechanics. From switching spots, to getting fake chests that didn't have the star, it wasn't until the last 6 rounds did he finally get a star. Good times

3 is my favorite. I didn't play much past 3 and it just feels like Mario party 2 done better. More variety for mini games and items and I love the new duel mode they did.

my fav game in the whole series is 7, best mini-games, most life-like bourds [as in you could go to them irl], and best gimmick 8 players, that was like what 4 5 years before smash 4, also reason two why the gamecube is my favorite console. the first being the controller you will take a while to learn it but you never forget it, much like the xbox[the one with grabbed by the ghoulies]

I personally like Mario Party 3 slightly more. Mario Party 1 and 2 had the best boards, and 2 had arguably the best minigames, but one thing I like more about 3 is that you can carry up to three items at a time. It makes some of the more situational items in 2, like the Skeleton Key and Bowser Suit a bit more useful since you can keep it in reserve for just in case, while still having one or two more versatile item to rely on. Combine that with a much bigger selection of items, more items specifically designed to screw with your opponents, and you have a lot of possibilities for strategies. With four players who know what they're doing, it's a completely madhouse, especially during a big game.

I think Luigi having "hidden talents" is the game telling you that he gets hidden blocks a lot and they're mostly (if not all) going to be star blocks. Considering the hidden block spaces are decided at the beginning of the game, and not a simple %chance of getting one each time you roll... This means Luigi's AI manipulates the roll to land him on a hidden block space.

My favorite is a toss up between 2 3 and 5 though the latter mainly based on nostalga.

my friends and i had an all nighter last year where we played this and we'd just have constant hootenanys even when it was completely pointless then almost piss ourselves laughing when during the following animation wario would go gah i missed!

My favorite is Mario Party 6 and it might be because it was the first one I played. I went back to it recently and it's still great! My 2nd favorite is Mario Party 5 and my 3rd favorite is Mario Party 3.

I played horror land the other day and Luigi(I was playing as Yoshi) for almost the entire game(played 20 turns) would buy a key to go to a boo but half the time the boo wasn't active because it wasn't daytime and even when he had no coins and I don't know how he got 2 stars(even though I stole 1 of them)
