      I chose this board for my build. At stock settings my 3900xt scores CPUMark 34433 (average of 11 tests, global average 33022 for 3900xt), with a single core score of 2934 (average of 6 tests, global average 2804 for 3900xt). All board temperatures below 50 degrees centigrade with one 120mm exhaust fan. It is memory fussy, follow the certified vendor list. Thanks for this review which helped me.

    6:10 You can use the power button to do reset bios..
    1. Hold to force power down when your PC is ON wiith black screen.
    2. Hold once again for 10 second. During this 10 second, your PC's LEDs and fans will start up - please keep holding it until the system tunes off, and then release it.
    3. Press once more, like you turn ON your PC normally. Done, its now reset.
    Note: at first boot, your screen may take a bit of time to light up after reset, so just wait.

    I'm considering this as a direct upgrade from an Asrock B450 ITX.
    Also, if you find yourself needing to clear CMOS frequently, you're likely the tinkering type, so you should be able to build a breakout header with pushbutton, to move it both to a more convenient location, and to far more easily activate the feature.
    The board is available without WiFi6, but since the WiFi is only a $10 add to the price, I don't see why you wouldn't... other than for the aesthetics - the non-WiFi model has black heatsinks.

    At 0:05 you could've say "the new mortar has dropped." XD
    Anyway, great video; thanks for the warning about using 1 or 2 nvme slots depending on whether I will be using the second longer slot, as well as the CMOS battery removal. The compromise about the nvme slot doesn't matter since I just need a discrete graphics card. I am getting this motherboard simply because I found one at an affordable price online that has built-in WiFi and I don't need extra features that an X570 has to offer. I love that it has more heatsinks for VRM and M.2 slot.
    Unfortunately, as for the WiFi antennas, they can only be mounted on the IO as it seems; unlike the Asus TUF gaming motherboard. I am kinda worried about this because my room is pretty cramp and I could only place my PC on the floor beside my legs. I worried that my antenna won't be able to receive much signal strength from my home router because there will be quite a number of obstacles (I can't say if there's a wall blocking because even though there is no direct line of sight from my PC to the router, if the signal can "maneuver" a bit, it can reach my PC without hitting the wall. I don't even understand how EM waves even propagate...) as well as the height of which I place the case. So is the antenna "strong" enough? Or it has a wire for me to extend like the TUF motherboard?

    • @RealMelTan

      Hey CrazyBlueTV, we are more inclined towards the MSI as it has its single heat-shield on the PCIE 4.0 M.2 slot, while the ASUS has it on the PCIE 3.0 M.2 slot. Given that PCIE 4.0 SSDs run hotter than PCIE 3.0 SSDs, having the heat shield on the PCIE 4.0 SSD makes more sense.

    • @nuker222
      @nuker222 4 года назад +1

      The ASUS TUF B550M Plus WiFi is better. WiFi + BT 5.1 and the second M.2 Socket is 22110 Sata3/PCIe 3.0. The PCIe are full funcionall and separates for the 2 slots VGAs. Onboard Audio is AL1200 + S/PDI-F Optical output. 8 + 2 Power Phases for cpu... etc. The MSI b550m Mortar lost the second PCIe x16 (x4) if the second M.2 Socket is used.

      Well I recently bought an msi ge66 dragonshield laptop but I've been doing research on building my own desktop so I've been watching a lot of review videos. I want to build a black and white themed pc so I did a search for this particular motherboard along with 1 other. But I liked the detailed breakdown you gave of the board but my favorite post was the humor you put in there as well. Now I just have to get up the courage to actually do a build and hope I don't mess it up too bad. Lol

    BRO HOW TO FIND CHK CODE OF THAT MOTHERBOARD ? THE CODE IS NEEDED FOR ONLINE WARRENTY REGISTRATION

    • @RealMelTan
      @RealMelTan  4 года назад

      Hi Khanin, you can do this: You can either do a Start menu search for “System Information” or launch msinfo32.exe from the Run dialog box to open it. Then go to “System Summary” section and look for “System Model” on the main page. From there, you should be able to find out what kind motherboard your PC is running on.
      Hope this helps !

    It looks like the B550 chipset is a little short on PCIe lanes. I bought the ASRock B550M Pro 4. The secondary M.2 has only 2 lanes and they're shared with SATA 3/4. Even though I can still have a second M.2 PCIe SSD and still use the PCIe x4 slot, I would rather get all 4 lanes, so kudos to MSI.

    One issue: you missed that the second x16 slot actually runs in x4 mode. MSI should have made it look like what it is (x4) and moved the BIOS battery over there in the cleared up space.

      Also to further answer ur comment
      Yes we do agree that that slot should have been physically a PCIE x4 open-ended slot instead of a PCIE x16 slot
      That would have saved space for the CMOS battery to go there, while at the same time allow for those who want to put a PCIE x16 device into that slot (abeit running at PCIE x4 speeds)
