As someone that is learning about the sport of Rugby, it's easy to fall in love with an Antoine Dupont, because of how incredible he is as an athlete, and the will power he obviously has, but the hardest Jobs in Rugby are the big boys up front, the hearts and souls of the sport. Joost vd Westhuizen, Fourie Du Preez and George Gregan is the nr 9 goats, all of them had longevity and was very top class for almost 7 to 9 years in their position and very importantly played an instrumental role in their teams in winning World cups (BMT). Du Pont is world class at the moment, but he needs to maintain his form for another 2- 4 years and have an excellent World Cup in 2027, and possibly winning it. You cant be any GOAT in rugby without a World Cup trophy in Rugby except for Jonah Lomu maybe
@@marnusferreira893There is no need to win a world cup to be the goat. Winning a world cup is a team effort and more often than not a refereeing effort. Being the Goat is about individual prowess and how impactful to the game. Nobody remembers the name s you cited except for Lomu.

Put aside titles, accolades, achievements etc.. Judging purely off overall rugby ability, yes Dupont has to be the best.. But unfortunately in this day and age we cannot leave those other things out of the equation.. On the bright side, he is 27 and still has time to win a World Cup and continue to add to legacy. Joost was even faster than Dupont and tackled Lomu at his best from the front. What Dupont maybe have over Joost is possibly more versatility like being able to also play fly halve etc
Am from France but one shouldn’t exaggerate and remain reasonable…yes DuPont is probably the best player right now, but I think ONE of the greatest players along with the likes of Gareth Edwards, Jonah Lomu, Johnny Wilkinson and Dan Carter…that said, he s very impressive coz he can play almost any position and everywhere on the pitch, attacking, defending, kicking with both feet, etc… He s still young and will improve so future will tell.

Right now, we're judging based on years of epic form he's had, but based on that you could say Kolbe, Beauden Barrett, Fourie Du Preez, Ben Smith etc were also the GOATs - because they also had 4-5 year periods were they were untouchable and barely made a mistake.

Damn it we missed him and Romain in the cup...
... indeed.
As someone that is learning about the sport of Rugby, it's easy to fall in love with an Antoine Dupont, because of how incredible he is as an athlete, and the will power he obviously has, but the hardest Jobs in Rugby are the big boys up front, the hearts and souls of the sport. I am an American Football fan to be fair, and I have always been more attracted to watching and admiring the men in the trenches!
Antoine tu es le GOAT 🐐 que tu penses être 🇫🇷
The GOAT
@@marnusferreira893 Say "thanks you" at the referee...
Lomu was a poor defender. The other names you mention? You can forget. The World Cup? Referee and vitamins helped a lot the last winner 😉
@@marnusferreira893sorry man, Dupont is better than all of those 9s, the GOAT is still DC in terms of resume, I would say Lomu was the greatest offensive player ever, but Dupoint once retired is going to be goat debate for sure, at least as a 9 he is the best we ever seen
It’s not Antoine who plays rugby it’s rugby that plays with Antoine dixit Chuck norris
In my opinion, he needs to win just one World Cup to become the goat. He doesn’t necessarily need multiple world cups. But he does need to have the ‘World Champion’ title. Respect from NZ

He's still young, plenty of time to built his career, and grab trophies. But when you look at his age, and what he already achieved, not many are able to claim such statistics.
😂 , not an exagération.
Just by seeing him playing you know, he doesn’t even needs a pedigree .
@Gratindauphinois-26 Nope. He needs to tour the south. It's easy to look good playing in your backyard all the time, until he stops ghosting when his team need him to to tour then he will always be a bum

Agree. I wouldn't even call him the best scrumhalf ever. People have recency bias. Yes Dupont is an exceptional player, but go watch Dupont highlights & then Joost Van Der Westhuizen highlights back to back and decide for yourselve who is the best. Joost was even faster than Dupont and tackled Lomu at his best from the front. What Dupont maybe have over Joost is possibly more versatility like being able to also play fly halve etc

Johnny Wilkinson and Dan Carter…that said, he s very impressive coz he can play almost any position and everywhere on the pitch, attacking, defending, kicking with both feet, etc…

It's weird to suggest a guy who is only halfway through his career is already better than all of the guys who've had 15+ year playing careers.
What will happen when he gets injured? or when his team's form dips? these are questions to define his entire legacy.
Right now, we're judging based on years of epic form he's had, but based on that you could say Kolbe, Beauden Barrett, Fourie Du Preez, Ben Smith etc were also the GOATs - because they also had 4-5 year periods were they were untouchable and barely made a mistake.
@@Alec-sanderMeirellesDoCantoECa He's showed enough material in that first career half to be already invited to the "goat" discussion.
