the unit upgrade from different armor lvls has made this game still great to play when played with a mod. lotr game is a great mod. bc the unit upgrade it just ads that flavor of improvement in your armor at each lvl. love it.
Woah! Never knew that upgrades in Medieval 2 changes the units armour outfits and a lil changes on weaponsas well... TW:M2 is so ahead of its time for a 2006 game! Thanks for the upload!! 😲👍
I kind of agree and disagree medieval 2 is really impressive and much better then the competitors at that time but, these days developers have become very lazy just doing countless reskins and whenever they actually add something you have to pay at least 10 dollars for dlc. So my point being total war games have really regressed terribly by greedy corporate scum and talentless game developers
@@tonyASi Can we really say they are lazy considering how many races there are in Warhammer alone, most with their own unique unit models and animation?

@@Uragan00829 Well Rome Remaster had most of its changes be optional including Unit balancing so i don't see why not. Ill be fine with anything as long as they don't change the UI.
Stuff like this I miss from the older games. This was a great little feature to showcase how units evolved over time. Why they got rid of it cus they’re lazy.
Dear god... Please. Make this a series! With that being said, I'd now like to express how I wish this is still a thing! I love the idea of customizing our units in this manner.
What stands out with Medieval 2 is the fact that even your most cheap and poor infantry can be used effectively if you're strategic enough I once had a single peasant unit defend against a siege , and it managed to hold off some spear militia simply because attacking is extremely hard , thus giving you a bonus regardless of unit
Love this format video. Not see other compare unit update like this. Keep up good work mate. Small thing i remember those italian state got pike unit. But i dont see them in here 😊
That was something i only found out after many many hours but i love seeing the change, seeing my peasant/militia boiz getting real armor was pretty awesome. i especially liked the upgrades on the turkish units, maybe you can show those in another video! I dont know if i ever really played the nations that had men at arms and broken lances, either way i almost never built them and had no idea they had upgrades, i usually just used fuedal knights, and i don't think those had any but maybe I didn't upgrade the armorer enough.
Download Stainless Steel. Its pretty much a remaster. Not so much graphic wise but it adds a ton of units to every faction, adds new factions, and two handed anti cav/anti armor units are actually powerful. Nothing more satisfying then seeing french cavalry get annihilated running into a wall of Obudshaer
I’ve been playing Medieval II since 2008 and ONLY NOW do I learn that the equipment upgrades not only raise units’ stats, but also upgrade them cosmetically as well!!! I don’t know how I never noticed!
This is the best totalwar game if they add HP regen system into it and rebalance some troops (for exam: Dismount Gothic Knight is too weak, they must to have the best armour in game)
Ummm slight correction I would make is that the Italian Spear Militia have greaves and gauntlets and what looks like Brigandine/ Coat Of Plates on top of a Long Sleave Mail Shirt so you could call the armor they are wearing Coat of Plates instead of Heavy Mail because after looking at the Sergent Spearmen and Armored Sergent afterwards that looks more like Heavy Mail than what the Italian Spear Militia are wearing
Yes, but the game UI identifies that tier of armor upgrade as "Heavy Mail" which is how you know what level of building gives the upgrade (ie: the one which gives the "Heavy Mail" upgrade, and who can get it (ie: the unit info says its next armor upgrade is "Heavy Mail") Some mods add a bunch of extra armor tiers allowing for alternative names, more granularity, or just change the string to read something like "heavy mail/brigandine" etc

Dol Amroth nice
So, one thing I have learned some time ago, that those armor upgrades do actually matter, and in fact matter a lot.

I hope they Remaster this game with improved mechanics for diplomacy in the grand campaign (non-aggression pact, etc.)
And improved unit types, like two handed weapons, pikes, maybe even halberts?

Dismounted broken lances, a horde of hilariously armored sword troops invading the Aztecs from a map filled with many huge cities.
awesome video mate, i really like their models and colours :D
please do all factions! i love this
This simply makes me play Medieval II, I only played Rome & Rome II but this, is perfect
my favorite was always danish crossbow fully upgraded. never knew why
armour upgrades in this game, both in mods & in vanilla remain one of my very favorite parts of Med II
I never noticed that with improvement the unit model changes 🤯
It's a bit of a shame that the ranged units can't get an upgraded version of their weapons... 😢
Imagine the increased damage potential from that...
As i remember they can. I manually edit the swordsmith guild to upgrade ranged units too and they also come with a visual upgrade.
@@christofera.6659 WHAT?
They fact unit upgrades are visible is great! Not just +2 atk or stuff like this. Was point i like to see and i was late to Medival 2 party (2019).

One of the things I love most about this game over more recent TW games
Great vid. Do Byzantine empire now

we need medieval 2 remastered
Id say the just touch up the resolution of the textures of the game. And not change anything to it.

@medievalwarfare can you make a video on how to add your music to Rome total war or medieval 2 total war? please🥺
This was th only game that ever implemented this feature
Rome 2 does not have it
Shogun 2 does not have it
And none of the other historical games
Byzantine spearmen?
ah, back when armour upgrades weren't just a stat change
Visual changes really makes the game better and more immerse ❤️
Creative Assembly should remaster or release Medieval 3 , they are wasting time and money releasing new TW games
my biggest problem with the games that came after was the death of this feature
Hi friend
u will make camping about empire total war mobile when its release
Keep going ur videos are good
That Islamic factions sound track hits hard.
I love the idea of upgrading the peasants farm tools instead of giving them actual weapons
The visual improvement is quite a let down since it is just a plus 1 improvement but still a nice touch which I haven't seen in modern iterations
dude, +1 is a lot, especially for armor since it applies all the time for everything.
give armor to hobilars
very cool
HRE next please
Can you do Venice too please?

ada dua harga, yg standard nya aja atau yg stadard plus expansion, kalau mau main expansion nya beli yg lebih mahal
