Greetings. My dad was there on the Penelope which ran aground on uncharted rocks and eventually limped back to Blighty, escaping the Luftwaffe in the process. They captured a German troopship and I still have the silver wound badge taken as a trophy. A luger he also liberated as a prize was confiscated by a ship's officer. It's been claimed that the loss of Hitler's destroyers at Narvik was at least as important a factor in preventing Operation Sealion as the victory of the battle of Britain. Flyhawk produce a model of the Penelope as she appeared in the Narvik campaign.
"Well, this morning I went diving on a sunken WW2 German Destroyer with the WW2 History Hunter team". What a cool fantastic start to my day. Thankyou !
Great little video of an under water explore of the sunken German ship. Thank you for all the hard work Bunker Buster girl, Eagle Eye's Eli, and History Hunter.
Such a great amazing video!!! My family were in the german navy back then, so its always very interesting to see artifacts! You and the fam are awesome!
Always love the underwater explores with the Fifish. They always show us so much we would never have the chance to see otherwise. Amazing seeing the mast just laying there, with all the ceramic insulators waiting to be picked like fruit from a tree. And yes, that was probably the forward search/signal light, that was attached to the mast, just above the bridge section on this destroyer. I can imagine that she would have been well picked over for souvenirs, before she eventually broke and rolled over, but still, that debris field would be fascinating to explore. Who knows what little surprises are still there. Thank you all for bringing this amazingly beautiful place to us, and sharing this incredible piece of WW2 History with us. Stay Safe!
Amazing to see that debris field under the ship, and my favourite part of the Fifish is working out what the things are that you find. Well done to you all for this explore, it fits so well with the one before showing us what is left above the water line. Stay safe and well my friends
Yes the ROV is such a great tool to work with and i am actually amazed to see how well it handles and can do things down there. Loved to find and share this with you :)
I just love these vids man! just bought a fifish v-evo myself recently, should be taking it for its maiden voyage tonight! your videos were a big reason i became so interested in buying one of these wicked toys!
👋👋👋👋👋👋 Hello EE and HH....Nice exploration on the DD. Love seeing the mast and that sink! I was busy, while you were navigating, looking all around to see I spotted anything. Interesting on seeing all those "shells"(not ammo) just lying on the bed there. There was just a ton of them!!! That light looked like a signal light as well. Loved seeing that! Thanks for taking us into the deep. Stay well and smile...until the next time
Well done as always HH. The ROV is doing well. I wonder how much was left onboard, by wars end I imagine she had been stripped. Some nice finds down there. New grippers ship Monday. Stay safe and well all of you.
Yes the ROV is doing great and with your gripper it is so easy to get things up from the bottom :) Tons of stuff down there and we loved to see that place both over and under water :) Thanks and ore to come soon :)
Great explore with the Fifish. Mother nature is slowly taking the wreck to bits, great that you could get there and record what is left for us to see. Take care out there HH family.
I knew this would be a great episode and I was right! Loved it and it was so great seeing the views of the sunken destroyer from the ROV. Thanks for taking us along for the trip!
Such a opportunity is rare and we just had to fulfill some dreams and we did thank to great support from YOU :) We thank you for that and we send a greeting your way :)
At 11:17 or so - that is most likely a semaphore light used for signaling between ships. At least it looks exactly like one of that era (including the allies). Pretty cool to see the underwater part of the ship! Can't wait for the next episode.
Another great dive with the underwater drone, interesting and well told to information. Also EE who did a very good job with guidance and help in it. Thank you both from the Netherlands
What a marvellous piece of kit is the Fifish, i agree with the comment below at 11:17 or so that is a semaphore or heliograph light used for signalling between ships.Great collaboration between HH and EE in operating the ROV.👍
This was a wonderful adventure! The sink and shoe sole were still there! And that search light was so big! It was very interesting seeing the ship from underwater. Until the next take care and stay safe. 💖💯
These underwater adventures are fascinating. Keeps my eyes glued to the screen searching for history along with you. Can’t wait to see more from this great location.
You two did an excellent job on the models. The HMS Belfast 1942 has quite the history. The Imperial War Museum has her moored for the public to see on the River Thames. It's a good thing you have EE guiding you HH and manning the ROV tether. I would think the large multi cell battery was a rare find. The doctor should know better than to tell HH to slow down.😅 Yes, thanks to William from QIC for designing the claws for the ROV. You were able to find many artifacts from the German Zerstorer. A shame they couldn't have been displayed in a war museum. Good job, HH and EE. Thank you for taking us there. ❤
Yet another fantastic episode! I find this really interesting. Served the Royal Dutch Navy myself for a while. We can’t imagine what those guys have gone through during those days! Fantastic upload WW2HH! Nice explore by your team…
Hello, back 👋 EE. I bet you were so proud to have both BBG and EE join you on the recent explores, HH. It sounds like they were a lot of help. I Hope that your lungs are continuing to heal HH. You found many artifacts with the ROV - large multi-cell battery, search or signal light, piece from a electrical stove or serving plate, enamal sink, and bakelite battery pack. I bet the battery pack will clean up nicely. The one object did look like a shoe sole. We wouldn't have been able to learn that piece of history or see those WW2 artifacts if it weren't for you HH, BBG, and EE. Thank you so much for taking us along. Looking forward to further adventures. 💗
Ys having them both coming along is so inspiring for me. Loved it and we thank you for being here with us and your fantastic support to the team. Greetings from us and be safe out there :)
Visiting this wreck is also on my bucket list and while up there a visit to the site of where Tirpitz was sunk ! . Great video , wish i could afford a fifish so i could have a search around the many coastal installations in that beautiful country !
The BLUCHER and this Destroyer were part of a invasion task force of Norway ! Special force German troops and equipment were on vessels. battery packs look to be for portable german field radios.
Nice dive my friends. You at least were able to retrieve a bottle and a serving dish - momentos that will remind all of you about this trip. All 3 of you HH, BBG EE be safe stay healthy and be careful ...
there is this place in france that i found it has crazy bunker systems and you can explore it all its at a place called la colle de la bonnet it’s very interesting
Yes i think that underworld is so interesting and specially at such location like that. EE did get his dream fulfilled and YOU made that happen my friend so we thank you so very much for letting that happen. Such a interesting place that is and we shall share more soon. Take care , have a great day and we send a greeting your way :)
14:13 looks like an enamel oven dish or platter from the galley so you are close to the galley where you found that! Hope you can go deeper to see how far down it goes.
Enjoyable explore of the vessel area underwater. I can imagine that one could spend a lot of hours just driving the FiFish around the wreck and exploring all sorts of crumpled material inside and outside the vessel! Did you determine what the piece of wreckage is that you retrieved? It looked very unusual to me as I would not expect something so colorful to be on a naval vessel. I look forward to the next episode! Thanks for taking us along! Stay safe and stay well!
I have been told that it could be a piece from a mess hall , like a serving pot or like it. Loved to see this vessel and so glad EE did get his dream fulfilled. Thank YOU Donald for your incredible support to the team. More to come and have a great day :)
Hey, how are you doing? I have enjoyed your videos you are making. Very interesting. Where is that Destroyer located? Country? Have you ever thought about actually SCUBA diving on these sites? You have found some really awesome finds! I think our War History is awesome and remembering what happened and artifacts bring history to life.
Very kind of you Larry and it will enable us to go out and find even more to share with you :) Appreciated and we send our greeting to you and be safe out there :)
I see you have a model of HMS Belfast. I toured that ship in January 1977. It was during my first trip to Europe. A 747 from Chicago O'Hare to London Heathrow. It was a charter flight by my university. I was taking a graduate school course called Problems and Potentials for Marketing in Western Europe. How the world has changed since then. It's such a shame it's in a state but o suppose you can't expect anything differently with it in water and over turned I just can't believe every little item had a purpose in ww2 and on that destroyer like you said amazing footage
That was great, thankyou so much, its amazing what is still there from the war, the royal navy destroyed these german destroyers but unfortunately this battle was lost overall for the British etc anyway thanks again. 🙂
Poor lad lost his sole.. Davey Jones lockers looking after it I guess. I do understand how to have no purpoise in life. Anyway, smoke me a Kipper for breakfast eh?

I was there, place is amazing to see! It’s just strange to still see the carnage from the last world war.
You sound exactly like the German officer in the movie inglorious bastards

Take care of yourself enough to have the little (or not so little) ones have a dad. That bit is important no matter what we think of ourselves.
agree and thanks for watching.
Excellent my friend👍Looking forward to the next adventure from the trip!
Can't wait!
The parts are fascinating. Love the ceramics around the mast. The serving dish is a wow. Glad to see the sink plus the shoe sole. Wondrous program!
