Amazing. My wife used to metal detect and says great finds always came out after a tree fell, from the hole or roots, on battlegrounds. Be nice you were able to get that brass 20mm deactivated ! Thanks for taking us along !

what you found is probably parts of the wings, because the 20mm cannons were located in the wings. maybe they got cut off while the plane went through the trees.. parts of the hull (and maybe the pilot) could be not far away then..

Remember though that 82 years ago these trees hadn't even started growing. Probably no way of knowing if there were even any trees in that area back then. There more than likely were but not these ones.
@@brianball2002 well seeing as some of the 20mm shells were actually found inside a dead old tree.. you know where i'm going lol
Participated in the recovery of a P-47. Struck by AA fire killing the engine while straffing a train, it flew through a telephone line before the pilot climbed to 500 ft and baled out - survived to evade ca 6 mths in Belgium before capture then liberated on the 'Ghost Train'.
Pilot jumped at max height of climb - so P-47 did a nose dive from there.
First things found were wings (ca 2-3 ft) then machine guns/ammo (ca 4-5 ft) and finally, the engine, cockpit and tail section compressed into a single block about 5-6 ft long. The 'Pit' dug to recover all was ca 15 ft deep.
Recovered the pilots First Aid kit. The bandages and all else in it were still in perfect condition.

That was amazing. You actually found such an elusive crash site with great research and persistence. I'm quite surprised that the main thing that was left behind was the ammunition, as I would have thought that ammo would have been quite valuable to the Germans. Nonetheless I'm so happy we got to explore this place with you, and that you were able to pinpoint so many pieces.

I used to live on the south west coast of Norway when I was a kid. There was German bunkers behind my old house which was also the former site for a camp for Russian POWs held by the Wehrmacht. There's history everywhere, even though there was no major battles fought there by the allies.

Great set of finds. Amazing how the cartridges had become imbedded within the tree route. I wonder what else is lying out there waiting to be found?

CONGRATS on finding the evidence in the Focke-Wulf FW 190!!! Great investigation in picking this mystery. So glad you and EE found it. It was like looking for that "needle" in the hay stack and you guys found evidence in it. Great adventure!!!

Glad you found traces of that FW 190. Pulling on that 20mm ammo made me nervous because I don't know if that ammo was just solid metal projectiles, high explosive or incindiary that could still be live and could take a hand off if it decided to burn or explode .

Great job, mates. Betting it plowed the ground really well. They more than likely salvaged the armament and instruments. The findings are tremendous and proof positive of the crash. Stay safe and well.

The research you both due seems to always pay off. Did the pilot survive? Who witnessed the crash to be able to tell what happened? It’s just amazing that after around eighty years, you are able to go out and find these pieces of history. Your mother’s philosophy of never surrender, never give up pays off again. I love seeing these pieces of history being discovered.
he did not survive. The German report states a farmer saw it coming down. We shall NEVER SURRENDER my fiend and thanks for being here with us :)

I love and have loved watching you and your son and daughter since your earliest works. Some might say that what y'all do might seem trivial and maybe glorifying the Germans of the WW 2 time period. These are the people who have been programmed to find offense in any and everything. What they don't take into consideration is that y'all take the political aspect out of it and focus on, 1. The historical significance of these things. 2. The human aspect of those who literally LIVED it. After all, when the all uniforms, ranks and weapons are taken out of the picture - the only thing that is left is - HUMANS , all of the same rank and basic needs and desires that want nothing less than Love, Peace and Harmony. I think that what you and your family and all the contributors to your channel are doing is a very wonderful thing for humanity. You are documenting history and remembering with respect, all off the wonderful people who lived and died this part of history before the memories and all evidence fades to the ravages of time and the minds and memories of first hand experience. Your building and recording an untold and unrecognized tale of history rarely told much less documented. I commend you my brother for such a selfless act. May all blessings of Health, Wealth and Wisdom come to all aspects of your life! May Love , Peace and Harmony come to this whole earth for we are all one. Tim.

Definitely a great find thanks to all the research and the hike in! Those 20mm rounds were really something else. Great find especially finding the ones that were in the tree. Will be looking forward to seeing the other part that will be coming.

Great work guys! Glad to see all that hard work finding the crash site payed off! It's obvious the Fw hit hard from the way all those 20mm are scattered about, with bits of the belt still attached. Finding that bakelite piece was magic. That piece you found is most likely part of the electronic gear from either the cockpit itself or just behind it in the fuselage. And well done finding all those 20mm in the tree trunk! That was a great find! Wonder if they were placed there during the initial clean up and forgotten, or maybe it was a section of the 20mm ammo belt that landed there, and the tree grew up around it. Still, an amazing find, and awesome proof all your research was spot on. Fantastic work as usual, and another fascinating location with some amazing finds! Great job locating the crash site. Most of the plane must have been salvaged. I think the brass rounds are probably the tracer rounds, which might explain the 4g stamp. Thank you and EE for taking us along. Can't wait for more of this trip. Stay safe and keep smiling. 😊

I would have to agree with the person who said this must be close to where the wings and body ended up. The 7.92 pieces still having portions of the belt on them is amazing along with teh tracer 20mm rounds that was a jackpot. Have to wonder why they didn't recover all the ammo too, though I suppose at that time, while they were hurting for brass, they were not yet thinking the end was near. Congratulations for adding a 190 to your list of found planes. Great hunt and looking forward to the part 2 from this site. Stay healthy dear friend.

I can see why the rescue mission would be extremely difficult. Imagine the fear the pilot felt. Of course, you found airplane ✈️ parts. You usually do. You brave all sorts of weather conditions.
