The physics in GT7 really took a step closer to iRacing after the last update. I think it's more about if you own a quality PC to run VR, if you want to spend the money for iRacing, and if you want a game that takes overall simulation racing to the fullest extent or prefer something more casual like GT7s style. Not that you can't be a casual sim racer and enjoy iRacing, it's just that the game offers a more truer racing experience.
with a bit of luck ACEvo will give us that and more but with a proper sims physics while actully being more approachable than iracing due to iracings artificially difficult tire model
Great content I guess I’m on my way to buy a quest 3. 👍 looking forward to forward to seeing how this improves my vision. Started sim racing but just won my first actual racing championship last season.
@@thecasualracinggamer Yep, like good optics/lenses are more important than the quality of the display and resolution, also sweet spot size, Quest 3 has more resolution display, bigger sweet spot and better optics than PSVR2, all that plus it's a Standalone VR and PCVR headset all in one at $499, PSVR2 it's at $550 and it works it's as a PC/Console VR headset only, so you need to add at least $500 (PS5) more to see something, and there are a lot more titles on PC than PS5 in VR, so better if you have a good PC to really use it. So ... That price on PSVR2 comes from where? lol.
@@steve_ire321 Nope, are not. that horrible MURA/SMEAR it's just awful. I preffer 100% any LCD over that, even $4,000 dollars Apple Vision Pro got it, just awful ... full stop.
A great iRacing test for the PSVR2 this week is PCC or Advanced Mazda, both running at VIR & Sepring & BOTH at night. Would love to see how much more immersed you are and how much better it is at night with the OLED panels
I do a lot of long races which usually turn to night or vise versa. Would be nice to have a little comparison on night driving as well and see how big of a difference it actually is with the oled.
Great comparison! By the way if someone doesn't like the colors with Link, Virtual Desktop has much better colors, probably that's why I don't feel the OLED colors in PSVR2 a huge deal compared to Q3.
The colours in the PSVR2 stomp on most headsets on the market, and this is with it even without the HDR enabled, its that visible. As far as using VD goes, VD is good, but it still carries latency, compression and more importantly, the occasional signal drop out due to your wifi not behaving. Another downside is that you get about 40 minutes tops out of the Quest 3 wirelessly before having to charge the thing, so you might as well have it wired.
@@steve_ire321 The colors are of course better on OLED but if someone would prefer the lenses and image clarity of the Quest3 just doesn't like Link colors, VD might be the solution for them. You can't notice latency unless you are playing Beat Seber on expert but you can play that standalone too with zero latency. Compression is there but the image still looks sharper and cleaner than on PSVR2 with mura + screendor filter + lower resolution + worse subpixel layout, and don't even talk about the freslen lenses, which is a shame and makes a wired headset almost pintless if you get a worse image than on a wireless headset but restricted by a cable. Where do you get this 40 minutes from? Have you ever tried a Quest? It's two hours, maybe 1.5 if you take care of the battery and don't charge it over 80%. By the way the PSVR2 also doens't have unlimited playtime because the controllers don't last longer than 4 hours, unless you are playing games that use a different controller. I also never had any problems with my wifi, it's rock solid, and I'm using just a 90$ router.
I know this video is about the VR...but one can really notice the amount of input you have to constantly steer into the car in GT7 vs the I Racing. You look so much smoother driving in IR.
"I have both devices, and indeed the Quest 3 has more clarity, but in several other aspects, it falls short. 1. PCVR games often seem like adaptations; they frequently have errors, requiring reconfiguration. If Steam updates, VR support can be lost; if the graphics card updates, it can cause errors... if Windows updates, it can cause errors too.... It doesn't seem like a ready-to-play solution, as it relies on the user understanding computing and researching forums to see what went wrong. 2. So far, I haven't found a racing game that comes close to GT7; the game is sensational, which reminds me a lot of the Nintendo Switch situation; the software is just as important as the hardware to bring the leisure experience. 3. Quest 3 has a major issue with battery life; if you play without the cable, the battery drains much faster. 4. The comfort of the Quest 3 is very poor; you have to buy another support. 5. PCVR games have a lot of hackers in the matches. The PCVR solution (requires a good graphics card) + Quest 3 is more expensive than the PS5 + PSVR2... currently, in my perception, the best option is PCVR + PSVR2 + PS5; you get to play both PS5 exclusives and PCVR games."
I race almost exclusively in VR now, and occasionally have gone and raced in flatscreen. Way off the pace now, but in the first few days of VR I was way off the pace then, lol.
It will take you time to adjust back to flat screen. Just like it takes folks time to adjust to VR coming from a flat screen. I never race on a flat screen anymore though. More than pace or depth perception, it hard to race without the immersion and enjoy it as much.
Issue currently is that the quest doesnt work on ps5 so psvr2 is the play if you want to play on both pc and ps5. Is it true that you can't see the driver list in vr when in a race? Been thinking of getting psvr2 (currently just use a single flat screen tv), but lack of info in vr is pretty much a deal breaker
💯 PSVR2 is amazing for offering console and PC compatibility! Yes, it's true you can not see the driver list in GT7 on PSVR2. It is mind-boggling that they have not given us this.
Great stuff. I have a Quest 3 and previously owned a PSVR 2. Your points are valid, there is no competition as to clarity due to the awesome pancake lenses on the Quest 3. Moreover, Quest 3 wireless via Virtual Desktop and the AV1 codec is on par with a cable. Like you I do not notice latency at all, and compression artifacts are few and far between and never noticeable during a race. Easy choice for me, Quest 3 all day.
I don't think it's the psvr2 that has reached its limits. I think it's the ps5 that has reached its limits. I think GT7 on PC will be able to push the PSVR2 beyond its limits.

I'm sure it will as it should, assuming the price won't be anywhere near PSVR2 or Quest 3. Is there a suggested price for it yet? The number one selling point for PSVR2 is being able to use it for PS5 and PC. No other headset can claim that. A great selling point for Quest 3 is wireless PC gameplay as well as stand-alone VR gaming. Also, augmented reality. Yeah, the removal of certain features was very much known for PSVR2 on PC. For me, the biggest removal was eye tracking. That feature would have allowed games to run at much higher graphic settings without killing frames.
Have pico4 with vdt with latency, and now psvr2, I really notice a difference in latency. Play psvr2 at 120 hertz. My bass shakers on my pico4 sometimes thought they don't work, and now on psvr2, works much better, really notice a difference. Especially with rally no latency is important. Moreover I have much more vof on psvr2, is also important to me. Hate binocular look no immersion.
Does i racing have night time races? I'd think that is the only place psvr2 has a chance to show itself off. But the overhead of SteamVR and the visible mura eliminates the DP connections advantages over compression artifacting for me.
