Reboot Honda CR-V 2023 9inch display infotainment system (fixes wireless Android auto connection)

- To get to the reboot menu:
hold Home + click in the power /volume controller + the skip track back button to get to the first debug menu
select the bottom option
from there hold the back button + click in the power/volume controller + the skip track back button to get to the menu with the reboot option.
note there's probably a bunch of things you can do in these menus that could mess with your system/car. if you don't know what you're doing it's best you just stay out of them.
the main reason I wanted to post this is because I had an issue where my wireless Android auto didn't want to connect, I feel like it had something to do with the wifi and most of the time just restarting fixes that.
Hey everyone! Just a heads up that Honda pushed a software update today! I believe this is the first one I've ever gotten, so hopefully it has some stability fixes. Still no easily accessible reboot button so this video is still relevant but fingers crossed we will need less reboots!
You are a rockstar!!! Updated infotainment system in 2024 Cr v a few days ago & CarPlay crapped out. I called the dealership, was told to just hold the power button Normally all you’d need to do is hold the power button & that did nothing!! Honda needs to hire you as Tech Manager !! Thank you
after a few frustrating days and a new phone later, this fixed my issue. My husband and I have the same phone and his was connecting but mine all of a sudden stopped and nothing I did would fix it. I couldn't connect wirelessly or through USB so I checked our phones (same version of OS, same version of Android auto and apps, and same settings). I thought my phone was the problem so I got a new one (to be fair it was almost 5 years old and the battery is starting to degrade). I was beyond irritated when the new phone couldn't connect either. I tried everything: cables, uninstall updates/reinstall, re-pair the phone to the car, etc. I even scheduled maintenance and mentioned this in the comments for my vehicle and 5 minutes later came across this video and all is well in my world again. Thank you!!!!!! You're my hero.
Honda, needs to address this android problem!
Thank you! Still works as of 8-21-24. Make sure to hold the bottom "seek" button for both button sequences.
So glad I found this video AND that I read into your replies on people's comments because I kept trying using the "back" button instead of the "rewind" button. Caused me some slight frustration but once I read the comments in full and saw that you meant the rewind button, it worked! Also agree with other posters that Honda should add a reboot option to the settings!
I think it would have been nice for them to add a reboot option in settings. This mortal combat key combo is nuts
Lmao
You are a bloody genius! I did NOT want to jump through hoops with the dealership, but I couldn't find anything online that addressed specifically a 2023 Honda CR-V, and that's when your video popped up. THANK YOU!
OMG I am now so upset at the local dealership. I have been asking for this and they tell me it doesn't exist! This happens all the time !!! Thank you thank you thank you so much !!!
Absolute life saver! My android auto freaks out about every other week, and rebooting does the trick every time! Hopefully Honda pushes an update to resolve the issue soon
Same boat! My bf found this video for me. I was more than a little annoyed as to how often android auto stops working
Thanks so much for sharing this information! Like any other computerized device, rebooting typically solves most common issues. A real shame that such a basic troubleshooting step isn't provided to the owner more easily and we have to scour the internet to discover things like this.
This looks like the same infotainment screen used in the new 4th gen Pilots as well.
Thank you so much, it worked for my 2024 honda civic hatchback sport touring. Man i tried everything and was so frustrated. 😂
Can u do for the low models as well please.
Thank you for saving me a ton of time, I have already wasted over an hour restarting/ unlinking/menu surfing trying to get my wireless Android Auto to work, and a trip to the dealer.
This is probably a dumb question - but what does the symbol mean at the top of the touchscreen that has a car with the wi-fi symbol right beside it? It's on the upper right side the farthest symbol to the left there.
Not a dumb question, I double checked and there is no list of just what these Icons all are and what they mean in the manual, which is anoying.
So if you look at my screen at the beginning of the video to the left of the time on my screen you can see 5 status icons. Starting from left to right:
The first icon which is a car with waves coming from it... thats actually your car's cellular connection strength. Your car has a cellular data signal for doing things like hondalink to remote start your car and remote unlock etc.
The second icon which is a white wifi signal: This can be confusing, this icon specifically is because I have android auto connected at this time so my car's wifi is connected to my phone's wifi hotspot (as that is how wireless android auto works, it uses bluetooth for the audio stream but it streams the video feel to your car from your phone to your car screen via wifi
The 3rd icon is just your classic bluetooth icon, showing my phone is connected to the car via bluetooth.
the 4th Icon is my _phones_ cellular signal strenth. Depending on your carrier and a bunch of reasons, your car could connect to its cellular network, and could connect to your phone and wifi no problem, but your phone might not be able to get a good cell signal so this is useful for troubleshooting that.
And the last icon on the right is my phone's battery %age full status.
hope this also helps other people. 🚗📱
Dude you are a freaking lifesaver. I've been ripping my hair out trying to figure this out. Dealer wasn't sure what the problem was (went through turning stuff off and on/repairing, etc). You saved me an hour drive on my day off to go spend an unknown number of hours at the dealership for my new car.
Thank you soooo much!!!!!
I appreciate your efforts here. Just got a 2023 Civic Touring Sedan that has the exact same screen. Having trouble with Apple iPhone connecting and this took care of it. Thank you again my friend.
Glad I could help!
Omg! You’re a lifesaver!! Thank you so much!!!! Fixed me !!! ❤
Have a 2024 Honda CRV and this worked like a charm. Thanks!!
Thank you!
If you’ve updated to iOS 17.6.1, and your CarPlay no longer works/isnt compatible, this does not resolve the issue.
I can't wait to try this to see if it will fix iPhone connection problems. My iPhone stopped connecting to wireless CarPlay, for reasons I can't figure out. I've tried forgetting the phone and the CarPlay connection on the phone and then re-pairing the phone to the car multiple times. Each time, it would say it connected but CarPlay wouldn't work. The phone would show up as connected to Bluetooth both on the car and in the Bluetooth settings of the phone,\, and I could play music by Bluetooth, but CarPlay wouldn't work. I finally gave up and deleted both connections again and just connected CarPlay with a USB cable, like an animal. I was dreading a potential trip to the dealer and wondering if it wouldn't just be enough to use wired CarPlay, but I paid a lot of money for this car 7 months ago, and, dammit, the tech should work.
Thanks for your Information. Had a disconnect with android auto. Hence it Worked on my 2023 Honda Crv Sport Touring. 👍🤞
Thank you for this. Exactly what I needed.
This solved my Pixel/CRV issue, thank you kindly! Also, I'm not sure if there are any dingdongs like me, but please note that in this video the first set of three buttons is Home, Audio Power, and the *track* back button, not the back button below the home button. I was jamming on the top three buttons for awhile before realizing my error. Thanks for the video, hero!
I should have explicitly said "track back" button, sorry about that.
Thank you! The wireless CarPlay in my 2023 EXL stopped connecting and this was the only thing that fixed it.
23 crv + samsung ultra 22 = no connection? Like come on.
This video comes in clutch. Thank you.
THANK YOU for posting this! Applecar play wouldn’t connect but Bluetooth worked fine. This reboot did the trick!
Thank you for help. In EU, Austria, is im System only usb cable on. After switch on wireless and this System reboot is already wireless on and it Works. Thank you.
I tried 100 things and this is the only thing that worked perfectly! You're a fucking genius!
Thank you. We have a 2024 CR-V Sport-L Hybrid. Android auto suddenly stopped connecting, no matter what I tried. I followed your reboot instructions and now it connects perfectly again.
Is there also configuration - to turn off beep by Speed limit? Europe version
Thank you very much, just want to add that first time is the media back or previous button, then it’s the system back button
You are the best! Spent about an hour but wasn't able to resolve the issue. Fortunately, I watched your video and tried the same steps and it worked for me. Thank you so much!
I had the same issue with my 2023 CRV. Thanks to you I was able to correct it, I feel this might be a problem with honda software
Like any computer system, a reboot every now and then seems to fix most issues. Based on what I mess around with when it breaks I feel like it's something to do specifically with the Bluetooth controller? It seems when I start pairing other devices to my phone and then try to switch to my car is when it starts breaking down.
Thank You! I spent 3 hours trying to get mine to connect wirelessly today. It worked fine for months and then today it just refused to connect. If I had not come across this video I would probably still be out in the car pulling my hair out. 😅
Thank you so much! Complete lifesaver for my Honda CRV having issues with wireless Apple CarPlay.
Thank you so much. I’ve been searching for two days to find out why my android auto wasn’t working. The dealership kept blaming it on my phone but I think it was a glitch in the Honda system. I did this reboot and it’s working again.!!
Thank you so much. You made my day I was getting really frustrated
THANK YOU!!
This also works for a 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport. After the reboot, I selected the Smartphone Connection icon, tapped on my Samsung S22, and it asked me if I wanted to connect to Android Auto. "Yes, yes, a thousand time, yes!” I screamed, and voila, it worked!
I’ll probably have to reboot daily, but at least my map will work!
Thank you sir it helps me 😅🙏🙏🙏
What if my screen has gone black?
Fixed my Android Auto problem. Suddenly stopped working and could not connect via wireless. Honda error message said device (Pixel 6) was not supported. After rebooting was able to reconnect with no problem. Great advise.
Thank you so much man, finally solved the issue.
Thank you! This resolved my Android Auto problem. I'm guessing these newer vehicle computers don't really turn off, rather sleep, and cache never gets cleared
Thank you for your service good sir.
Thanks so much! You’re awesome, I was going crazy trying to figure out what to do to make CarPlay work again!
Amazing! Fixed my connection with Android Auto without resetting the whole system. I was going crazy trying to solve this until I found your video.
Same here.
I've been experiencing this and had been wondering just now if the reboot is the same as the factory data reset, where I have to readjust all my settings. From what I'm understanding this should work without having to reset everything, because I know it's going to happen again. Wasted 3 hours at the dealer today for them to tell me nothing's wrong.....
I have CRV honda sport 2024 and there is no home button in the entertainment system . How should I reboot . Please help my auto anroid is not connecting.
AirPlay still not working😢
Fantastic! 2023 CRV EX-L. This worked for me!!!!
Thank you, I just got an Acura Integra and came from a 2016 Honda Civic. My 2016 would do the same thing and a reboot would fix it 99% of the time. I had the same issue you discuss the other day (Android Auto refusing to connect/open) and I was trying all sorts of key combos to get it working and nothing. On my 2016 it was about once every 2 months or so, and all you had to do was push and hold the power option for about 5 seconds straight. This will help lots of people hopefully.
Great video. This also works for iPhone users having CarPlay issues.
Unfortunately these steps do not work on my 2024 Hybrid Sport Touring. Holding down Home, audio power, and the back button does not even get me to the diagnostics menu. Nothing happens at all. I held them down for 10 seconds and nothing
This is only for the 9 inch display. But if it is you first need to hold down the home, audio power and the SEEK PREVIOUS Track button. Please look carefully at which buttons to push
Thank you so much, I’ve spent about 2 hours today trying to get CarPlay to connect in my wife’s accord, and this fixed the problem as soon as it restarted
Lifesaver! This worked for me! Was going crazy with this issue! Thanks!
Hello, how can I activate RDS system. Thank you for your reply
according to the manual:
Radio Data System (RDS)
Provides text data information related to your selected RDS-capable FM station.
To find an RDS station from Station List
Select Station List to display a list while listening to an FM station.
Select the station.
Manual update
Updates your available station list at any time.
Select Station List to display a list while listening to an FM station.
Select Refresh.
Detail
When you select an RDS-capable FM station, the RDS automatically turns on, and the frequency display changes to the station name. However, when the signals of that station become weak, the display changes from the station name to the frequency.
Does anyone know how to do this for the 2023 CRV Hybrid 7” model?? The buttons are different on the display and the home button is on the steering wheel. Please help!
I believe for the 7" model you just hold the power knob down for a long time until the "reboot" menu shows up on the screen
I am on my husband's account to write this comment but you are AMAZING! Yesterday, my Samsung Galaxy worked on my 2024 CRV Hybrid and today it didn't. I restarted my phone, checked the settings, and cleared my cache but nothing worked until this! I was so worried about performing a system reboot but after reading the comments, I gave it a try and it works again!!! Thank you so much!
How can I fix my screen when I click on the phone option or Apple car play it shows black screen nothing shows up 😢
Same issue
Worked like a charm thank you
There is no home button in CRV sport 2024 . So how can I reboot my entertainment system. I can't connect my anroid auto. Please help
I don't know I dont own that model but if I recall from what I read you just long press the power button as that one has a specific power button
You my dear Sir, are the GOAT 🐐. Thank you!
I was going crazy, but this worked! Thank you so much!!
Fixed my car play. Thank you for making this.
Thank you for the reboot information, this solved the issues I was having with Android Auto not connecting anymore.
Thank you so much bro! saved me a trip to the dealership!
Honda need to fix this.
My android auto stopped working today and this totally saved the day. Thanks man!
Yes thank you so much!! Tried everything from repairing the phone and reconnecting. This was the only thing that solved my non connectivity issue. Mine is with CarPlay/Apple, but still worked. I do have a question, does this happen often? I just purchased the exact same car and it’s only been 4 days. Thanks again for sharing. I don’t even think the dealerships get a chance to learn some of these bc the cars are sold so fast.
I got a call today about a recall for a software update so maybe that could help? I'll post if anything changes.
Like I mentioned in other replies it tends to happen more when I'm messing with Bluetooth settings, so if I pair a new device to my phone or remove a device from my phone, my car infotainment system just needs a reboot to get it working again.
This doesn't work with my 2023 CRV
This only works with the nine inch infotainment screen. If you have a 7 inch you might need to find different instructions.
Thank you so much! I did a factory reset to resolve an iPhone not connecting issue which also worked but meant I lost all my settings. Will be using this method if it happens again!
I've been experiencing this same problem, and I have been doing the factory data reset and like you said then I have to go through all my settings and redo them. Have you tried the reboot? Did it work for you? Thank you
You're a life saver! Thanks so much!!!
Thanks for the video. My 2023 CR-V also suddenly stopped working, and disappeared from the CR-V screen. I did everything I could think of but couldn't get the android auto back. Just now, I follow your instructions to reboot the system, and android auto appears again. Thank you so much.
I meant android auto stopped working
You saved the day!!! Spent over two hours trying to figure out why I couldn't get it to work. This fixed it!!! Thank you so much!!!
do you know how to turn on lane keep assist permanently? i understand that the system had to get set up based on certain conditions. but having to push the button everytime i turn the car on is extra.
They won't let you do that, it's a liability thing because it's a driver assistance feature. Sorry.
This video is amazing. Thank you!!
Well this solved her android auto issue! Thanks bud
Thanks a lot.
Thank you for posting this helpful video! The reboot steps you provided resolved my issue :)
Issue:
iPhone 15 Pro Max could not connect to entertainment center in 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport-L AWD
Resolution:
Home + Vol Audio + Back buttons (hold for a few seconds) >> Detailed Information & Settings >> Resolution: Back + Vol Audio + Back buttons (hold for a few seconds) >> System Reboot
In the event you would need to Factory Data reset: (which I did not need to do)
General settings >> System >> Factory Data Reset
the ZRV in the UK has the same infotainment system but android auto is only available wired and not wireless. do you know if you can enable wireless Android Auto from the engineering menu?
Not making any promises but randomly came across this vid that might help: ruclips.net/video/FmEtCK6aP-s/видео.htmlsi=QCk_BlmRiB8Z_EDC
@@pagzamaphone thanks ive seen a similar video but this one had more detailed information cheers
Thanks bro!
Dude, thank you.
Excellent, thank you for keeping me from wasting my day. For those poor souls who have something slightly different and need different instructions, there are alternatives if you are really desperate. You can remove the fuse to the head unit, assuming you can identify it. Or disconnect the vehicle's battery. Remove all power, reconnect, and you will reboot.
I bought 2024 Honda CRV Sport Touring about 7 months ago. Since then I had to reboot the system at least 3 times.
If you go into Audio check can you disable ANC (active noise cancellation)? If so does it stay turned off when you restart the car? Thank you.
Thanks for sharing this. It fixed a CarPlay issue I was having in my 2023 Pilot Elite. The problem was that I couldn't hear Siri when reading or sending messages or in Maps. The reboot did the trick.
T H A N K Y O U !
Does this reboot cause you to lose all your settings, like a factory reset does?
No this is just like shutting down a computer and restarting it, not to be confused with a factory reset.
Thank you! This video is so helpful. I have it saved so I reference it every time I have to do this because I always forget the keys to press.
Amazing! Having a difficult time with the info system. Thank you for your help! This make my day. Got a 2024 pilot elite apple carplay not working and tried diff things and the reboot got it fixed. 🙌👌💯
Amazing life saver
Still an issue with my AA. But I look for this video every time, great work!
You’re a genius! Thank you! It worked for my 2024 CRV Hybrid Touring.😊
Thank you for posting this! It works in the 2023 Acura Integras too.
Can confirm this fixed my issue in my 2023 HRV. Unfortunately it has to be performed on occasion since there hasn't been any software updates to resolve the issue.
Man, you saved me from going to the dealership! Thank you!
Worked with my iPhone and CarPlay. Thank you! Here’s hoping Honda fixes this. Never had a problem with my older Accord.
Bought a Honda Jazz Crosstar on this past saturday and everything on it is fantastic EXCEPT the wireless connection to android auto...Apple car play works like a champ but not so Android...tried everything I could think of...leaving money to the Church, repenting my sins..everything and NOTHING worked. You have to believe me that there's nothing more frustrating than buying a new piece of tech and it not working from out of the box. Then I found your video and voilà, it all came together...THANK YOU, THNAK YOU, THANK YOU... someone should raise a statue in honor to you in one of the important plazas in the world...
Thanks a ton from Vancouver, BC Canada. Got my new 2024 CRV Touring Hybrid only for a few days and the Android Auto was working seamless then suddenly it is not available on the Home Apps menu but just the smartphone connection. The phone can be connected to the car but only can do calls or play music but Android Auto was grey out and not available on the phone setting with the infotainment system. The system rebooting works like charm and now I have my Android Auto back!
I was unable to connect to CarPlay and the reboot worked, thanks for the video
