      This system worked very well on the 2023 Honda CRV Hybrid. All the features you mentioned worked on this SUV. The following distance can be a little tricky, but overall Honda executed this feature very well indeed.

    keep in mind that lane keep assist can be fooled easily, I find it gets confused when passing exit lanes, the steering wheel veers into the exit lane rather than staying in the lane I am in so I have to force it to stay on track....also I have found that interplay between shadows and sunlight can fool it, I drive under an overpass which bends across the freeway and throws a shadow that bends to the left, the sunny side of the freeway then appears to bend that way and again fools the LKAS into steering left. Happens every single time I pass that section of my freeway. Otherwise it's a really handly feature, basically just need to rest your hands on the wheel and the vehicle does all the steering, if you take your hands off though it will start screaming at you until you put them back on and if you don't take the hint it will turn off the LKAS

    3:57 is absolutely essential for everyone to pay attention to. Stay alert and aware and always pay attention. The tech may make mistakes. Like he said, it's a driver AID and NOT a full takeover of the vehicle.

    • @CarDietrich

      Actually, good question, I never did explain that. The answer is nothing, the car controls the throttle and the brakes when the adaptive Cruise control is engaged. You should always pay attention and be ready to hit the brakes if someone cuts you off hard, and you can briefly hit the gas to get the car moving again if it brings you to a stop, but other than that your feet do nothing!

    I wonder if these systems make driving more dangerous. Instead of being fully focused on what’s going on outside the car you focus on managing more complicated technology, as well as trying to make sure the car is driven safely with full awareness. In a stress situation the technology could be adding information overload increasing the likelihood of a mistake. Just wondering…. It would be interesting to have accident stats where technology played a contribution.

    • @stephensniff
      @stephensniff Год назад +2

      Well insurance typically charges less on cars that have more smart driving features so I’m sure the data is out there that shows this technology helps avoid accidents.

    I can’t get this to work, the adaptive button does nothing.
    I just bought a 2020 Accord Sport. Has the adaptive button but it doesn’t engage. I’ve only tried on the highway at speed (75+) so do I have to be below a certain mph? Is this only a slow speed system? Do I have to have lane keep assist armed for it to work (I hate it yanking the wheel around in my hands so disable it).
    Unfortunately, as the car fax showed that the steering wheel had been replaced, I’m fearful that this wasn’t wired properly on installation. May have to take a trip to the dealer.

    • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  Год назад

      The system should work at speeds up to 90 MPH. If the steering wheel was replaced that might be the issue. It might not even be the wiring, the cars' computer might just need to be reprogrammed or something

      Unfortunately, I neglected to test cruise on my test drive (actually I did, I just didn’t try the adaptive button assuming since cruise functioned it would as well). Thanks Dietrich fir this lkas and adaptive cruise demo! Planning on buying the new 23 Pilot Trailsport. Question: with only lane keep assist activated, does the system generally work well on surface streets? • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  Год назад +1

      I haven't driven a new Pilot with the Adaptive Cruise with Stop and Go (believe it or not that's new to Pilot for 2023!) but it should follow the lanes because it has the LKAS and the Traffic Jam Assist standard on the Trailsport, so it should do what you need it to do.

Once it drops to that speed it displays a message I’m paraphrasing here, “ speed to slow for adaptive cruise control “ once I get that message the vehicle stops breaking and you are no longer in cruise control mode.
