Detention is an unique atmospheric horror game heavily influenced by Taiwanese/East Asian culture (Taoism and Buddhism references) based on the 1960s Taiwan under martial law. With simple point and click mechanism, the player control characters who venture into the school beset by hostile supernatural events to uncover stories behind the haunted place. Incorporated religious elements based in Taiwanese/Chinese culture and mythology, the game provided players with unique graphics and gaming experience.

The metaphors presented in this game make this a true phycological horror experience, the real horror comes when one begins to wonder what this story actually means below the obvious themes presented in its seemingly straight forward narrative
This is by far one of the best horror games I have ever had the pleasure of playing, and what I someday dream to someday replicate the quality of in a creation of my own

Agreed. you can't out-silent-hill the original. It's kind of amazing just how good SH2 was, given that it was the pioneer who couldn't really draw inspiration from anything that came before it.
You should also check out The Cat Lady. It's very similar and I think even better.

This was the first game of redcandles and I loved it so much. That's why I was excited when they announced a new game coming. I was lucky to buy devotion and exploded into tears at the ending..I just cannot believe that such wonderful game as devotion can be erased just because of a political issue...It actually rips my heart.

This, this, this! This truly blew my tits off and my mind open, only 2 or 3 games before have done this to me. Some games are truly masterpieces of the expression of the human soul, real emotion, true thoughts, utter essence, better than any movie can or ever shall be. When you play games like this, you live it, you love it, you hate it.

Ahh this game is good. This is my first Red Candle game I ever play. And then I heard about the Devotion which is the latest horror game made by Red Candle too. The experience of the game are looks like Silent Hill-like but I like it. Too bad Red Candle has removed Devotion already and I didn't be able to buy it on Steam :-(. Hey Red Candle, re-release Devotion please !!!

As a communist myself this game really strikes close to home, however I can’t imagine how sad it would have been during the white terror where expressing myself would have led to my death. I sympathize with the victims of the Taiwanese regime of the 60s. Truly a masterpiece of history and horror bundled in amazing game. I hope to see more game like for future.

I finish this game month of January 2024 in android.i would say this game is great for horror experience & story telling of this game.but i had hard time chapter 2 in piano puzzle is just hard...i had help from youtube gameplay of this game & i just only watch piano puzzle that's all.chapter 4 has choice to make & chapter 3 time set was hard for me to figure it out.i had complain of playstore of this game that I can't even find ratings option.because I just finish this game & I want review of this game in playstore but couldn't find any options to write to give review of this game.but aside from that I've enjoy this gameplay of click-point horror adventure.
