  • I made this brief video to give the viewer an idea of the showers available at the Munich airport. We were traveling for over 36 hours and still had one leg left in our journey. We were headed to our home in Spain and needed rest. We looked into showers available and found these were fairly priced and within the airport itself. We were incredibly tired and smelly, so a shower was quite refreshing.

This video was very useful. Thank you . I had no idea you could take a shower at Munich airport, even though I have used the restrooms there.

Thanks for watching and thanks for the kind words. It was very pleasant to find that shower that's for sure. I wish there were more at other airports. I can honestly say I have only ever seen them there.

Looks great, but I take it these showers are landside then and one needs to exit security.... Shame there are none airside without going to a lounge..... 😢

Yes, I believe that's how it went down. We had a 12 hour layover, so it wasn't so bad for us to enter and exit back through security. It was worth it for us as we were pretty smelly from traveling and still had several lengths before we made it back to the U.S. they should have shower and sleeping capsules in the terminal!

@@TravelingBuildingGrowing Is it a flat fee regardless of the number of people using it? We gonna be 5 people. Please advise.

@Omar Hamid good question, so I asked would it be necessary for us to purchase two entries. Although hesitant, he did allow us to share the same stall on one entry fee. I guess it will depend on the host that day? Or maybe they'll allow you to purchase two stalls and share them between the five of you? I honestly am unsure.

Do I need to book the shower room in advance? Or can I book it on the day? How many shower rooms are there? Thank you!

We just found it when we arrived and no one else was using the stalls. I don't even know if you can book it in advance. I am not sure on the amount of stalls available. I can confidentially say ar least three.

Hi. I will be transiting through Munich Airport soon and my connection flight is from Terminal 2. I took a look at the Munich Airport Terminal 2 map online and it shows that the shower facility is located in the same terminal. But when I called the airport, they said that I would have to go through the customs and stuff to get to the showers so I might not be able to use it. Is that true? Cos I thought the showers were for transiting passengers so you wouldn't have to go through customs and immigration and all.

Honestly, I think it's pretty silly myself. You do have to exit security if I remember correctly. We just went through since we had a 10 hour layover. It was a way to escape the madness of the terminal and freshen up a bit. I believe we were allowed 2 hours or so.
It was long enough that we took out time and hangout a bit longer than neccessary.
We had a checked bag so we didn't have to lug that around. We would have just had a small backpack and Rachel's purse that we went through security with.
So, it's only worth it for long layovers and of you really need to bathe. We had just come from another length prior to this layover and needed a shower and somewhere to escape the terminal a bit.

@@TravelingBuildingGrowing Thanks for sharing your experience. I just decided to use the showers at Airport Loungr World for 50 Euros which is pretty steep if you go there just for a quick shower! I might as well take a full advantage of the other services that the lounge has to offer while I'm there.

@@uramjeong8087 yes, that will be nice. Most important is to get clean and relax. The terminal is stressful, so even just getting away to the lounge is better for you.

I remember having to go back out past security. I had a checked bag so it wasn't such a pain. They must be near an entrance door or something to that affect. It's been years since I made this video so it's hard to recall. Sorry I am not more help.

it's convenient but a way too expensive...

You can't put a price on convenience like that. If you smelled as bad as me you wouldn't think it was pricey 🤣
